Hey, I just want to say good luck with the site; it's looking pretty awesome so far ;)
Hey good luck with site man, don't look at the negative comments here. Most people here talk shit unless you have good reputation. So good luck!
I think it's written into the DNA of GMod developers to create things which have already been made.
You forgot CodeForage
Nobody copied CodeForage, did they?
Nobody copied CodeForage, did they?
The style was similar at the start, but it's changed now.
Looks solid however I would wait until the website has more features to show rather than an exact SF clone (feature wise), centralized payments can be a good thing and if you'll figure out how to avoid leaks then good job. matt eat shit
Looks way better than that shit scriptfooder! U go girl.
I know this is a bit far fetched, but coming from a GSP perspective an auto installer, xml instructions or json for example would open a chunk of possibilities.
What's up with the pink block? And add a black border line between the jumbotron and the navbar.
Well because this is a game, I, by definition of my personality, will not spend any money on a game. So that's why I'm asking for selling addon for free... Github is I think for the moment my best choice by the way there is no addon sell site which respects what I need and by the way the Workshop is terribly long and complicated to upload (takes me hours !).
Inconvenience isn't really an argument in the whole 'should you sell your add ons on ScriptFodder' debate, and it's not about users spending money, it's about server owners.

That's like in Minecraft. Every Minecraft plugins are free, well with that you've got 5 years old server owners who don't know what a server is....

Even AAA games suffer from pirating even though they invest millions in trying to stop the practice. We do have some features in the works to help stop leaks but at the end of the day, it's easy to just work with pirates or pretend they don't exist. Trying to make people who never had any intention of giving you money, to give you money, is a huge waste of time.
Looks way better than that shit scriptfooder! U go girl.
ScriptFodder isn't that ugly! It's functional and really that's what is important. I believe they're working on a new design which you used to be able to preview at https://beta.scriptfodder.com/. It looks like they've taken it down though, you'll have to wait until they release it.
I know this is a bit far fetched, but coming from a GSP perspective an auto installer, xml instructions or json for example would open a chunk of possibilities.
One of the most requested features from server owners and players was a mod installation system, similar to what Nexus Mods provides. We're working on something that will work great for everyone. GSPs will also be able to use the Mod Mountain API to "fetch" mods that a user has purchased, allowing them to be installed directly onto the user's game server.
What's up with the pink block? And add a black border line between the jumbotron and the navbar.
We've noted your design concerns and will bring them up internally during our next review. Right now our goal is functionality before beauty but we'll make sure to give it a makeover soon! Do you have any other input that could help us serve you better? Right now the site is tailored more towards paid addons but we're working on bring in some features for free ones, such as Github integration. I originally got my start with modding and server management via Minecraft. There are plenty of servers that are hastily thrown together with free plugins. There's nothing wrong with that, in my opinion. As long as everyone is having fun what's the problem? I also disagree with discouraging younger server owners. There's no reason to discriminate against children just because of their age. You were a child once too. Don't you remember what it was like when someone older than you said you couldn't do something solely because of your age?
Well well well. I did not say every children were doing bad things with their servers. Actualy what I say is that there are some children that think always by the power of being "server god" ! I found that children are in majority willing to use power on their servers (not realy playing, or playing dumb games with others), than other older server owners who are less absorbed by power... Anyway, I don't want to enter some philosophical subjects.
The style was similar at the start, but it's changed now.
CodeForage looks a bit better now that it isn't just a renamed ScriptFodder. Why is it that name reminds me always of Nigel Farage :suicide:?
I really like the design of the site.
i have never participated in CH/SF and i like the look of it, and i like the idea of centralized payments as long as nothing sketchy starts going down. on the note of jobs, its hard to tackle because of the people involved. i do this partly for a living and it works in a business environment because you generally have very clear requirements that have been hashed out and documented, contracts agreed on etc, but its always going to have issues when you have many devs of varying levels of experience and professionalism as well as the people they are doing jobs for. there should be some sort of system for communication between developers and customers that is logged and developers heavily encouraged to make sure its used, and when everything that is needed has been sorted, both parties should be forced to agree on a set requirements list every time it changes. sorting out disputes would be far easier with an audit trail rather than he said/she said stories and chat log screenshots. lastly have you not considered just taking a flat percentage of each transaction? the idea of a monthly charge to sell seems like a bit of a turn off for me; its all fine and dandy for people who are pumping stuff out and making a fair bit of money, but it disadvantages small time sellers a fair bit who might otherwise be content making $10-20 a month from scripts with tiny pricetags.

Money will be deposited into escrow, both client and worker will be pushed towards chatting only on the site, etc. We're also planning on integrating quizzes / tests so that developers and workers can verify their skillset. As for payments and such we're currently redoing some of the backend code and adjusting our pricing model. We'll talk about this a bit more in detail very soon. All I can say for now is that we made a mistake when we initially surveyed developers which caused us to choose an unfair pricing model. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We're currently doing some maintenance on the server and upgrading a few things. As a result the site will render a little weird for the next hour or so. We'll post once we're done.
Edit 2: I've been rused
I laughed hard. To be fair with this website, it seems different from the other bs clones. I'm not a coder and I haven't sold scripts so I won't have an opinion on the centralized payments option but the rest of the features seem cool. The coupons is something I've seen people wanting from SF, the fact that you're not charged until you actually make a sell, can you're not charged if you don't make a sell, those seem like really awesome features. The free scripts with donations is cool too, it's like the Steam Workshop done right. (Hopefully the search function actually brings up what you search for and not FNAF shit) And the $10 a month compared to $15 seem nice. All and all, I don't see why people wouldn't flock to this website. Then again, 0 rep, centralized payments, 0 backers. The website is nice though, I like it and the features.
Allow us to set prices such as 3.50. It's frustrating to have to round up or down. [editline]9th June 2015[/editline] I'd also not force 3 gallery images, since if we have a video I prefer to show the content in the video and not focus so much on screenshots.
Cool but unneeded.
I think you you want to get a head of the game, you need to open up the currently un-ventured channel of distribution that would be allowing GSP to access an API on your site that would allow them to become a reseller of the addons on your site, taking a small commission. If you allow for your site to be integrated into other sites, such as a game server provider, you will be able to parter up with said providers, and allow for domination of the market that is the ease of having an auto installer for the addons, and gain trust in your website (that is that you must first get the providers to trust you). Worth a shot none the less. I personally can't believe why other sites haven't done this (or at least I haven't seen it in use).

It would be quite promising to see some sort of setup on modmountain, which would definitely be used if so. I also ended up making my own DRM for GMod DayZ too.
In reality the success of this site will come from offering something that is more appealing. That and not having the fuss of changing. You might even be able to setup a transfer service. Where-in using api functions from the current leading market for scripts, users will be able to transfer all their existing data. I can't imagine this being too hard to implement. Again, simple idea, but game changer.
