I'm sorry if I seem like I'm demanding too much here, but could you change the artifacts to be ones from the actual game? There are several debris and rock models in models/props_debris, I think.
This will be an awesome game mode once it's finished. To help, here's a faction list.
Loner
Duty
Freedom
Bandits
Mercenaries
Monolith
Military
Those are all the major ones I know. Here's an artifact list, too.
Droplet -- Deducts 10 radiation at the cost of 18 endurance.
Fireball -- Deducts 20 radiation at the cost of 18 endurance.
Crystal -- Deducts 30 radiation at the cost of 18 endurance.
Thorn -- Defends 10 radiation but increases bleeding.
Crystal Thorn -- Defends 10 radiation but increases bleeding.
Urchin -- Defends 30 radiation but increases bleeding.
Sparkler -- Adds ~30% endurance but electricity hurts 10% more.
Flash -- Adds 76% endurance but electricity hurts 10% more.
Moonlight -- Adds 109% endurance but electricity hurts 10% more.
Slime -- small amount of anti-bleeding (this one is almost worthless in game)
Slug -- moderate effect against bleeding (~200%)
Mica -- large effect against bleeding (400%)
Jellyfish -- Adds 5 radiation, decreases bullet damage by 2%.
Stone Flower -- Adds 5 radiation, decreases bullet damage by 3%.
Night star -- Adds 5 radiation, decreases bullet damage by 30%.
Wrenched -- Adds 5 radiation, decreases rupture damage by 2%.
Gravi -- Adds 5 radiation, decreases rupture damage by 3%.
Goldfish -- Adds 5 radiation, decreases rupture damage by 5%.
Stone Blood -- Adds life but reduces defense from impact, bullet, and rupture.
Meat Chunk -- Adds 400% life but reduces impact, bullet, and rupture.
Soul -- Adds 600% life but reduces impact, bullet, and rupture.
The following artifacts are extremely rare and there should only be 1 per map:
Battery-A -- Adds 30% resistance against electric damage
Battery-B -- Adds 30% resistance against burn damage (see below)
Kobolok -- Adds 5% resistance against rupture damage
Mama's Beads -- Adds 5% resistance against bullet damage
Pellicle -- Adds 30% resistance against chemical damage
Spring -- Adds 30% resistance against impact damage
The faction list is good to know. But since the artifacts (currently, possibly permenantly) don't have any effects on the player, the artifact list probably isn't going to be very useful.

How do you plan to do the anomalies? I would assume a sprite would work, as it needs to be able to distort the land you see through it, like a fucked up magnifying glass. The only problem is that I'm fairly sure sprites are 2D objects, and rotate client-side so that they are always directly facing you. Now, I'm not sure if you can use a model do give a similar effect, but it seems plausible. You all remember that magnifying glass Kleiner has in his lab? If you look through it, or spawn it in gmod and look through it, it actually magnifies stuff. I think this is done with spatial distortions, which can be found in 3ds max. Perhaps a series of animated distortions with no collision could provide the desired effect.
P.S. This whole post was just one big guess, but I think it was a fairly well educated one.
I like the inventory system, now i won't have to use the gravity/ phys gun.

-Redid artifact weight, weighs 2kg instead of 20kg so you can carry more.
-Added dynamic day/night cycles. Day will get brighter, then darker. Uses global floats and postprocessing to affect the clients' contrast. Will not affect players if under a roof (and as such it looks a little crappy, but hey.)
-Added more weapons: The P228 Handgun and the Nighthawk Handgun.
-[b]Added a tradeskill system:[/b] Using a basic recipe system, players can now follow preset recipes to create items. SENTs for item components have been added. Players can currently create their own AK47 for a total of 70 RU, if they buy the box of metal, the gun stock, and the magazine components, and use the recipe to create them. [b]Still working on a HUD system for this; currently uses console commands[/b]
-[b]Added being able to buy a crosshair[/b] for 2000 RU. All this does is add a little red dot to help you aim. Useful, I think.
-[b]Added a radio channel system[/b]. You can create a new radio channel with /newchannel <name>. You can then invite people to join your channel with /joinchannel <name>. Once inside a channel, your team say is automatically rerouted to talk inside your group channel, where only your channel members can hear you. This will allow for organized groups of bandits for warring on other bandits, or for groups of people who gather together to search for artifacts and such.
-[highlight]Added, and still working on a [u]blowout[/u][/highlight]. I am not sure how close to STALKER this blowout is, because I never got that far. These blowouts happen every 10 seconds to 3 minutes. When one occurs, a loud explosion sound is played, and env_shake with massive amplitude and frequency shake the entire map, env_fades fade in everyone's screen and out, and (still being worked on) every physics object, including anomalies and artifacts, are chucked around randomly. This comes with a little countdown timer counting down until the blowout.
-Added a "Blowout Imminent" when a Blowout reaches within 30 seconds. During this a siren loops on the player, warning them to get to cover immediately. Being stuck outside a blowout is very, very, very bad.

So what if there's only one blowout in the actual game? Whoever said I was copying STALKER. If I was, I'd be taking out all the roleplay support, would I not?
I am merely basing off their idea, and branching off. Besides, these blowouts give something to watch out for. If you're stuck outside a blowout, chances are you'll get crushed by a car that was pushed a few thousand units from its original spot.
Also, off-topic, I can make alpha channels now! I'm finally making inventory icons. :D

I bet you could recycle some of the destroyed city 17 maps without npcs. That would add a nice chernobyl feel.
I'll look into that. I might be able to destroy the entities with Lua even. If not, oh well. I'll decompile and do a clean up of all the unneeded entities. Like triggers and npcs and nodes.

Adding radiation at the moment. It seems I broke the Anomalies dealing damage when I made them give radiation though. I'll get a WIP picture up in a second showing what I got with the radiation.

Add some radiation, or those invisible things that suck you in and pound you or whatever they do. Make some of those floating around. >< And some dogs heh. Naw too much work. Good job.
