Very nice very nice! very interesting I have to say Mine-Dog is kinda cool but they limit the players way to much and the factions system isn't set up to good I hope you get something similar that works better. Inventory is awesome and the trading. I would help if you tell me what you need I may be able to contribute, if you're Going to have a dedicated server. decent at mapping or scripting weapons. Actually I'm in the process of making a mod based off light RP I think still need to talk to some people though. but I've already made a Hack or lock picking tool (it's a weapon) that works also arrest gun and made cops run faster etc. I'm actually almost done with a map but it isn't good for stalker style RP. Before I can contribute though I need to finish some things as far as My map and other things go. =) good-job
I'm so pissed. I can't play this because I get a fucking R6205 error. :( I'm going to go :emo:
As much as I like the beta, I have to point out a few things. The blowout doesn't do much, according to my friend. It doesn't seem to me it does much either other than propell you into the air. Artifacts and anomalies don't spawn. I don't know if this is a fault of mine, but i've been through atleast 6 consecutive blowouts on cscdesert and scoured the landscape for stuff. Nothing yet. What is the .res file for? This might be the problem, but what do I do with it? Now, I know this is just a beta, but this shows surprising potential. With some icon refinements, specified jobs (with their own sweps), unique factions, advanced inventory and trader VGUI, and other general improvements and polish, and this could very well be the best Stalker roleplay mod on facepunch! (*cough* Although discount the fact that this is the ONLY Stalker roleplay mod on Facepunch, it still is very good! I see uch potential in this, please do continue!) And one more thing to do with the blowout. I spawned some NPCs for a battle, and in the middle of an epic fight, the blowout happened. Nobody was killed, but all the NPCs turned towards the source of the blowout to stare at it in wonderment. And the next moment afterwards, continued fighting as if nothing had happened! More anomaly ideas: Tiberium: Don't be fooled, I am only giving this anomaly it's name based on Tiberium's mutative properties. When stepped on (should look like a spot of swirly green shit on the ground or something to that effect) it would suck the player under with lots of screaming and gargelling (and other horrific noises) and spit back out one of a few types of zombies. One, a partially invisible fast zombie that makes very little noise (the bloodsucker) and two, a regular zombie with ramped up health! Either that or these NPCs would be evident int he map already, for hunting purposes and general ambience. Rift: This anomaly would be a mobile one, swishing in between areas at speed. If caught in it, you would be transported to an area completely black, and you wouldn't be able to see 3 feet infront of you. Ominous music would start, and as soon as the anomaly passes by you would pop back into the place you just were. The effect should be a mildly noticable wavering heat haze effect. Creature Ideas: These include the two I described in my Tiberium anomaly idea. Flood Infection Form: Unfortunately, no new model for this. They would be fast headcrabs colored sickly yellow with increased speed and very low health. One shot from a 9mm pistol in Half Life would kill one. When one dies, it explodes in yellow strider/antlionish blood and gibs, but tey tend to come in numbers. This might be too hard, but the damage they inflict would be severe. Tentacle: A flesh colored antlion hive with a stack of dead shit atop it forming a tower. The tip of the tower would be one of those strider's impaling leg things which would try to stab you. In effect, it would be a series of ballsocketed props with a tip that is violently attracted to players. Zombie Stalker: Bloody humans (or other models you find more appropriate) dressed in city and rebel fatigues armed with rusty crowbars and some low-grade automatic weapons. I don't know much about their Stalker counterparts, so you'll have to use some imagination. Killing them might yield some kind of aritfact or medpac, weapon, ammo etc... Retrieval Team: Actually a group of specialized Combine Soldier NPCs that would walk on patrol paths through the zone with heavy weapons looking for stuff. If they spot wildlife, they shoot them. I'm not sure if you are automatically going to be an enemy to them or if you can form an alliance. Might be hard to code. Mutated Creature: Using the antlion model, these workers will be based around a queen in a part of the map that resembles a nesting area complete with eggs etc. Some stronger strains will act as soldiers and the queen's bodyguard. The queen would rarely fight or even leave her post and would be represented by the Antlion Guard model. That's it for now, I might post with some map ideas next.

It was going to kill you originally, but I found I can't propel player corpses when they're dead, so I just chucked them. I was hoping fall damage would kill them but fall damage does not seem to exist now. I will probably add huge amounts of radiation to any player trapped outside of a blowout, resulting in near instant death. 2.) use lua_run PlaceArtifacts(). 3.) For all the textures, such as the inventory things, the radiation and the radarmor. Replace map_name_here with the name of the map. For example. rp_cscdesert_v2-1.bsp rp_cscdesert_v2-1.res. The rest of your post I did not bother reading. Edit: I am going to update the download with a little fix which will automatically place artifacts when the gamemode is loaded and add radiation to players stuck in a blowout. Edit:
I can't picture this being much different.
Here's a comparison. Mine-Dog STALKER RP -Uses LightRP. -Has a KA-BAR knife. -Has factions that you cannot join unless other players allow you (fine, I guess.) -No trader system. -No inventory system. -No radiation system. -No blowout system. -Like 1 anomaly on the map. STALKER RP -Completely custom gamemode. -No custom weapons, meaning less to download. -All factions you can join freely. -Custom radio channels, an idea MD refused because they never thought of it. -A working trader system which is easy to add or remove items with. -A working and fluent radiation system, complete with damage, intake, and removal, both gradual and by antiradiation drugs. -A working and fluent blowout system, which will push things larger than the broken semi with the oil tank more than three thousand units from its original destination. -10 common artifacts, 4 uncommon artifacts, 1 super rare artifact, and 30 damage anomalies, all well-coded and taken about a day each to make. -Most trader items are not SENTs requiring less downloading as well. -A working combination system, still WIP due to no GUI. -A blowout timer complete with a 30-second warning system. -A non-LightRP HUD system.
I really don't like it. It sounds like you ripped off Mine-Dog. Anyways, beta isn't that good. I was trying out Mine-Dog the other day, and I have to say that it was one of funnest Roleplay's I've played. They already have some anomalies, and had an artifact system. Of course there were DMers, considering all of them never even heard of the game STALKER. But one of the players helped them, while the other Dmer's that didn't listen were banned. I was with four people in a group mission we got, and we were in the mines. Some crazy cloaked "Blood Sucker" ambushed us and we were running out of there guns blazing. Gotta admit having admins as monsters sounds pretty neat. EDIT: I just read GMOD's post. I've seen over 6 different anomalies. (Vortex, Hydro, Gravity, and some red one that can light you on fire.) No trader system? Yesterday I was doing missions and buying firearms from a "Russian Trader Union" or something like that. They had set prices for the weapons. I've noticed that Mine-Dog STALKER RP is also fairly new, and one of the players I talked too said they were already working on a custom artifcat system the day they started it. But about the radio.... I heard that they were making radios... and the "Military" already has a working radio. Just my opinion though.
:words:
It is impossible for this to be a "rip-off" of Mine-Dog. They use Light-RP, and just added STALKER shit too it. This is a COMPLETELY custom gamemode. Made from scratch. The ONLY thing that this has in common with Mine-Dogs' lightRP is that they are both based around Shadow of Chernobyl. Also, they don't have a Trader system. Just idiots that role play as Traders.
Hey, I've got a few questions. Do you mind if I "borrow" the inventory and trader script? Also, I was wondering if for the inventory you could have...upgrades persay. E.G. A Player buys a +25 health SEnt that stays in the inventory. As long as he has that SEnt, it gives him that +25 hp every time he respawns. Any way to do this? And if you need info on what I'm working on, just PM me. Thanks
Oh god, Gmod4ever, You make me laugh.
:words:
Ding ding ding ding! Let's dissect the post!
I really don't like it. It sounds like you ripped off Mine-Dog. Anyways, beta isn't that good.
Your opinion. I can't do anything about it.
I was trying out Mine-Dog the other day, and I have to say that it was one of funnest Roleplay's I've played. They already have some anomalies, and had an artifact system.
When I played, which was prior to making this, they had 1 anomaly and no artifacts that I saw. Makes me thing that they saw this (one of their dudes even posted in this thread) and started to get to work on it.
Of course there were DMers, considering all of them never even heard of the game STALKER. But one of the players helped them, while the other Dmer's that didn't listen were banned.
Yep. Always happens.
I was with four people in a group mission we got, and we were in the mines.
Gotta admit having admins as monsters sounds pretty neat.
No, not really. Got to admit an admin with a gun you cannot buy sniping you for no apparent reason is pretty neat.
I've seen over 6 different anomalies. (Vortex, Hydro, Gravity, and some red one that can light you on fire.)
When I played they only had one.
No trader system? I think they started it after I made this thread about it.
But about the radio.... I guess they had second thoughts after I made the gamemode, eh?
Just my opinion though.
And I respect it.
This man speaks truth.
Here's a comparison.
Actually, i wasn't referring to the gamemode at all. :v:
Whoa! That's nice!
What do I set my gamemode to?
What do I set my gamemode to?
The real "name" of it is simply "stalker", but the GMod name is "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Roleplay".
So what do I set it to? Also I tried running this in singleplayer and I got this :
Mine-Dog has got a few tricks up it's sleeve my friend
TOO MANY PERIODS GODDAMNIT! Type it out like sv_defaultgamemode stalker
The screenies made me wet.
Unstable Gamemode.
I don't mean to be rude, but you have your facts wrong. I've been roleplaying in the Mine-Dog server since day one, and we've had a trader since that day. Yes, the trader is roleplayed by a person, and not an NPC with a script. It's a bit more dynamic that way. Anomalies and artifacts came only a few days after the creation of the server. I'm only asking that you get the facts straight, before you slander the server. Have a nice day, man.
Actually mine-dog continually crashes. This script doesn't even start up.
Does the Mine-dog server use my Anomaly Tool?
It does. I must say it look beautiful. The radius of some of them are set way too big a lot of the time. Stupid admins! :argh:
Does the Mine-dog server use my Anomaly Tool?
Heh...yes it does but we stopped using at when it more then 10 of said anomalies started causing massive server lag and crashed our server, I really liked the tool but it was an issue so we removed it... Got any other Nifty STALKER stuff? we want it lol...
You did? I got Brain Burned the other day.
Oh what the hell...last I Checked we had removed it...Wolf does love throwing random shit up on the server to play with...so I am not to surprised but I had had it removed due to server crash issues...now to go talk to wolf... Edit: On a side note...I felt it was wrong to continue to try and run our crazy community without having actually played STALKER...so I got it this morning and I have been playing all day...I made a discovery. RPG + Supposedly Empty Building in Duty base = all of Duty base attacking you...

In S.T.A.L.K.E.R., did you just show up and be a part of Freedom or Duty? No. We roster people on our website. Once you get rostered and added to the script, you can join at will with a chat command. Granted, there are issues with people being rostered and not yet added to the script. Eventually, the faction leaders themselves will be able to do this. -No trader system. Rather than having NPC traders, which are impersonal, rigid, and inflexible, players on our server RP as traders. Initially, only I did it, with my swep admin. I ran a bar and trade. It has since developed into its own RP, with a Union of traders. There is competition. Besides just buying and selling, we haggle with players about prices, offer IC information, and most importantly, send players on paid missions, something which is completely absent from this RP script. No NPC can do all that. Our trader RP is far closer to that in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. -No inventory system. -No radiation system. -No blowout system. -Like 1 anomaly on the map. As for the first three, very true. Inventory system is coming. As for the others, it is more likely that it will be partly scripted, and mostly player controlled, as it is now. We have admins place anomalies and artifacts in logical, thought out places, rather than having a script spawn them at random. If you find only a few artifacts, perhaps no admin was on to spawn them. Eventually, when this is partly done via the script, that won't be an issue. Or, more likely, they were already found and sold to one of the traders. -STALKER RP- -Completely custom gamemode. That's true. -No custom weapons, meaning less to download. HL2 weapons? S.T.A.L.K.E.R. RP? Didn't see too many S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s running about with pulse rifles. Not to mention that it takes all of about 30-45 seconds to download lua files on a decent connection. We don't have custom models. We have a beta jamming script in place on the server that enables randomized weapon jamming as in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. Granted, weapons jam a bit too often, and we haven't tailored the rate of jamming to each individual gun yet. It will be fixed in time. -All factions you can join freely. Entirely UNLIKE what happens in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. Also, teams in this mod are not customizable, and don't get different loadouts. So essentially, these "factions" are here to allow you to freely change the color of your name in chat. -Custom radio channels, an idea MD refused because they never thought of it. This one's the funniest. We've had radios for teams since very early in our development process. Yes, it was already in LightRP. But we tailored the script to our RP by giving multiple teams multiple radios. Refused the idea? We thought of it first. -A working trader system which is easy to add or remove items with. I've seen many people in this thread having trouble with this "easy" system, and not much response to them. I've said everything else above. At the end of the day, both scripts have some elements the others don't. I sincerely would have liked to work together. Both of the scripts would have benefited, as would the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. RP community at large. Instead, you have chosen to take a competitive attitude about this, and spewn skewed bullshit like the above. I wholly admit that this script offers many things that ours does not, and I commend you on this release. But your attitude sucks. Maybe that will get fixed with the next release.
That doesn't look half as good as the other mine-dog stalker rp server which fucking rules!!! look for it on server's its usually up. Edit: Hey no wait i am an idiot!!! i never read it i just got sick of the mine-dog server because the admin's were abusing me and i wanted to go on factions but i had to sign up!!! what was i thinking??? I CANT WAIT FOR THIS IVE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE DUTY!!!
