If everyone just used git we could track the commits over a week to see their progress and check to see if there were huge sections of copied code.

Yes, but you'll always come across the "why reinvent the wheel" argument like that, and for people who don't use git regularly like myself would probably forget to update it... which I have done again.
I'm sure others like myself have code banks and libraries/helper functions that they've made in the past. Hell I could throw a gamemode together out of stuff I've done in the past.

Short of watching a live stream for an entire week, I think git is a pretty good option. Plus, at the end of the competition, all of the code is available, for the judges but also for the community (don't forget that the main idea behind gamemode competitions is to rejuvenate by provided new original gamemodes).

Oi, People who dumb rated me: Explain to me why you think it's dumb. I'm just saying that it's a pain in the ass for me to use GIT because my PC/ISP hate the living shit out of GIT/SVNs. I understand how to use GIT it's just I can't because my pc/internet (still not sure which*) pretty much cancels/crashes any uploading/downloading I attempt to do with it.
*Note: It does this with other things relating to github. It's not just related to the github client as it does this with TurtoiseSVN and the like as well, which would suggest possibly my ISP, but things like TurtoiseSVN typically do get at least something done before it goes nuts.

If you don't like seeing what users think of your posts, you can disable seeing ratings in your user panel, however seeing as you make such a compelling argument, here's why I rated you dumb: Your first post made it sound like using git was incredibly complicated, when in fact it's drag and drop, decide a fancy message, press commit then sync.
