I miss being able to rate peope 'Bad Spelling'.
Using my phone. Sorry.
Would be really nice if all of the alternate addons could be added into a github repository.
Out of curiosity, why does a thread exist to actively take revenue from developers? It's not like the people who make these lua scripts are earning millions for them :V
Out of curiosity, why does a thread exist to actively take revenue from developers? If somebody makes a script and decides to put a price tag on it, obviously not everybody is going to want to pay so threads like this exist for people to recreate addons to share for free.
Its because we got tired of people making half-assed scripts that are poorly made and configured, and then uploading them to coderhire to make money.
I don't think the price tag was ever a concern of yours, and you are not in a position to criticize anybodies script for being 'poorly made and configured' when you cannot write or even edit a script yourself.
Why not? If somebody makes a script and decides to put a price tag on it, obviously not everybody is going to want to pay so threads like this exist for people to recreate addons to share for free.
I'm sure if you had made a script which you were proud of, put it up for sale and then didn't get any money for it because it got cloned and distributed for free, you wouldn't be very happy about it. I can understand remaking addons based off the idea and modifying them to do some sort of better/different function, but just taking someones idea, remaking and distributing it for free seems wrong.
And now we are back to insulting Bluebull, shocker. Kibble please stop for the same of staying on topic, you are not making any profound points. Thank you And Pablo, Bluebull was pretty spot on but I had another reason. I started doing this cause 1) I was tired of seeing scripts so easy that I could make them 2) I dont want to spend money. Plus its a fun project trying to recreate something based off pictures and videos. (almost) Everyone wins with a free alternative [editline]14th September 2014[/editline] You replied right as I did. Most of the stuff I have done, cant say for others, has been changed or improved in some form cause I get carried away with doing stuff. But there has been a script or two thats almost an exact clone. The point isnt to rob people of their money but simply to prove that if your product is easily made, then you shouldnt be charging money for it. Plain and simple. It aint right to sell 5 minute scripts
(almost) Everyone wins with a free alternative
That's like saying piracy is good for everyone because they don't have to pay for things. The (almost) is the developers. I'm not saying I care if one person wants to remake a script and use it on their server, that's fine. If you have the ability and put as much effort into remaking something that someone made prior, all credits to you. But when you start mass distributing that code, you screw over the initial developer.
It aint right to sell 5 minute scripts
I guess it depends what you call 5 minute scripts
In NO way is he saying piracy is good.. The point of this thread, as I saw it, was NOT aimed at SOLELY taking money from, or, screwing over, developers. People work hard for their scripts; I know. And developers should be allowed to charge for their addons. It's the user's choice if they want to buy something, or use a free one. If you want people to buy yours, make it better than the one that's free! It's as simple as that! It's not like that "idea" is licensed to that developer; and no one is trying to screw anyone else over.

Ive already explained every one of those "points" that you brought up. I dont have to make something fancy to know when people are getting ripped off. Also, since when do you contribute anything? All I have seen you do is rate dumb on everything. Back On Topic: Now that coderhire is down, we are moving onto copy content from SteamWorkshop and ScriptFodder.

Back On Topic: Now that coderhire is down, we are moving onto copy content from SteamWorkshop and ScriptFodder.
Scriptfodder is just coderhire with a new name & owner.
Thats exactly what it is supposed to be....? Hopefully it has more updates due to 3 admins and devs.
I dont have to make something fancy to know when people are getting ripped off.
No you don't have to make anything fancy but you need to have some understanding and comprehension of the time, skill and effort that some people put into their scripts. And as somebody who openly flaunts the fact that their Lua knowledge is bare minimum, as mentioned before you aren't in a position to criticize anybody. You remind me of Snorlaxs except you speak english as your first language.
Now that coderhire is down, we are moving onto copy content from SteamWorkshop and ScriptFodder.
Who is we? I see you speak for a group of people but I've only seen you part of the group that is requesting others to recreate scripts for them. At least you're saving money not having to pay for scripts, so now you can renew your enjin website! :v: You can look at this thread as somebody that takes revenue from developers, but if people are using free alternatives to your paid product then you need to look at the quality of service you provide and give people an incentive to pay for your script rather than look for something that does the same thing without the price tag. Competition is healthy in areas where profit is the main goal, I think if people were discouraged to recreate scripts and provided alternatives that would just result in more people using leaks, and nobody will win.
I miss being able to rate peope 'Bad Spelling'. EDIT: Oh god I submitted this with a typo, I will keep it just to shame myself.
I made the same statement a few days ago only called it "bad reading".
I see this more as a clone type thing. A lot of beginners program clone chess for example, I see this as the same. For someone new to GLua or a specific GLua area such as meshes, sweps, entities, etc. it's a good thing to have a go at. The good thing with clones is most try to go their own approach to it, which is great. Also, I am so gonna frame this on my wall:
Hooks arent basic lua.....just to let you guys know for newbies.

Out of curiosity, why does a thread exist to actively take revenue from developers? It's not like the people who make these lua scripts are earning millions for them :V
Do keep in mind, almost all addons in this thread have all been relatively small. While I have no issues with ScriptFodder/Coderhire, I do think a site like this is a good thing as it encourages a bit more effort and creative thinking on the coder's part. Like I'll be honest, there have been a few products like this where even I'm like 'are you fucking serious'
^^^ that script should be free. Its useful but not sell worthy.

Still, I thought it'd only be a dollar or something if he sold it.
^^^ that script should be free. Its useful but not sell worthy.
Unless you've personally got or know the time and effort put into that script you are not in a place to criticize what he thinks he deserves for reimbursement. This thread is full of barking seals
Okay well that accomplished little lol. So yeah, dont steal code or assets and there will be no problems here [editline]15th September 2014[/editline] Name matching is something that would be good to work on. Its just a large table of ascii characters and their matching english letter. Nobody should pay for that
Unless you've personally got or know the time and effort put into that script you are not in a place to criticize what he thinks he deserves for reimbursement. This thread is full of barking seals
You could make months doing a usually small thing and turn it into something really, really big. Like a level system, or ( ironically what most people nowadays don't even notice since they tend to be big ) a pointshop.

I dunno, it just feels sort of odd to sell a tool like that? I guess I'm picking on it slightly because there's a version that's just for ULX which is $5 and then one for ULX/Evolve/Exsto and Moderator, which is $10, which is quite frankly fucking infuriating, like if you do this sort of thing, then just fuck you okay

If Exho releases his own version, feel free to remove mine from scriptfodder entirely.
What a combo.
Why was I brought into this :/

I wont be doing it lol
Nah, that doesnt seem terribly challenging but more of a pain in the ass to log all the ascii. I wont be doing it lol
Is it ASCII or Unicode? Am I just an idiot and don't know the difference? I thought cake did it with Unicode? -snip- I was looking for where to subscribe, but somehow filtered out "subscriptions" as developers you follow or something. My bad.
Need a subscription son. 15 a month
Why was I brought into this :/
I wonder if the mods would even care if I rated all your posts dumb.
