If you don't know Lua, you're full of optimism if you think you can integrate it with C++ for a SourceMod game.
If you don't know Lua, you're full of optimism if you think you can integrate it with C++ for a SourceMod game.
its worth a try for me. and i'll learn something out of it no matter what the out come is.
You're really, REALLY optimistic. We'll hear from you in a few months on this, if you even have the balls to continue it.
You're really, REALLY optimistic. Work on your punctuation and grammar first, then maybe you can master the divine arts of throwing together some shitty weapons pack, like Worshipper or Kermite. Hopefully better than both of those two put together though, considering they can't even spell their own names correctly.

And also you cant judge their names because you dont know if they ment to spell them like that or not all your doing is assuming.
"Meant", and that's my point. Doing something shitty, is still doing something shitty.
"Meant", and that's my point. Doing something shitty, is still doing something shitty.
I would rather do something shitty then do nothing at all. It shows that i at least know what to do.
I would rather do something shitty then do nothing at all. It shows that i at least know what to do.
Wow, that's the must mature thing you've said this entire thread. No joke.
I would rather do something shitty then do nothing at all. It shows that i at least know what to do.
You should try to squeeze this much out of yourself at all times. You'll get somewhere.
The guy just want to learn how to make his own sourcemod and include some Lua bindings and all you guys can do is shit all over his thread. Thanks iRzilla for being the only person to come up with a sensible answer. Good luck with your mod ATGOD and work on your spelling & punctuation if you want to continue posting on these forums.
He's the most sucessfull troll thread maker I've seen in a month.
The guy just want to learn how to make his own sourcemod and include some Lua bindings and all you guys can do is shit all over his thread.
Yeah, let's just suck every guy's cock who wants to make a SourceMod in here. Present yourself well, and people will listen. That's all you need.
A++ thread would read again.
it does thank u very much and yes that is what im trying to do make a mod that runs lua
Making a mod, as you want to do, is not as simple as asking for help on facepunch and figuring it out. It requires a team of modelers, texture artist, coders, marketers, etc. It also requires production costs and time. If you are still interested, I recommend starting here: http://www.moddb.com/tutorials/getting-started-with-mods [editline]11:54PM[/editline]
The guy just want to learn how to make his own sourcemod and include some Lua bindings and all you guys can do is shit all over his thread.
it does thank u very much and yes that is what im trying to do make a mod that runs lua
So you basicly want to recreate Gmod...And then what ? sell it on steam for 10 bucks? [editline]04:08PM[/editline]
I'm just gonna say this. People on the internet (unless they're little kids, or are just plain immature) respect you more if you use proper grammar and punctuation. Overall it will make you seem smarter and people will take you more seriously.
And Firefox has a spell checker that's pretty good.
So you basicly want to recreate Gmod...And then what ? sell it on steam for 10 bucks?
He probably wants to write a mod entirely out of Lua because Lua is easier than C++.

EDIT:
He probably wants to write a mod entirely out of Lua because Lua is easier than C++.
YEs that is true, and no i do not plan to sell it i actually lean over to open source
Thank you very much. I will work on my punctuation. EDIT: YEs that is true, and no i do not plan to sell it i actually lean over to open source
Someone's already doing something like that. I think it was called Lua: Source.
Someone's already doing something like that. I think it was called Lua: Source.
Well i mean but its going to be a mod, I plan to make it similar to the story of the original half life, almost like a alternative half life 2.
You would have to learn C++ in order to create Lua bindings for the Mod in any case... Unless you used the SourceMod plugin, which has a scripting engine somewhere between C++ and Lua. It plugs into any HL2-powered mod (or game, like TF2) and you can download other people's plugin scripts too. http://www.sourcemod.net/
There are some premade C files that let you implement simple Lua into source somewhere. You do however need to write the documentation by hand in C++ (I think, maybe it's C).

Where not asses we just dont like being asked questions that can be solved but the mighty tool Google...
Where not asses we just dont like being asked questions that can be solved but the mighty tool Google...
Then don't be an ass by not replying.
What would be the best method to bind functions to Lua? I'm currently using LuaBind in L:S.
What would be the best method to bind functions to Lua? I'm currently using LuaBind in L:S.
Maybe something in C++? Take a look at some of the binary modules.
Where not asses we just dont like being asked questions that can be solved but the mighty tool Google...
Actually i was on Google for about 2 days searching for lua and what not for half life 2, but i was not able to find anything so i came here to see if anyone can help me. edit: And thank you for the people who have helped me.
