Back on topic, is the 'getting the random seed and aiming in the opposite direction enough so that when the spread is introduced, it aims perfectly' thing the only way to do it?
I'm no authority on "No spread" stuff but even if you have the seed, if the server keeps the spread amount secret there's nothing you can do right?

That might be retarded. Does the client need the spread for tracers? If so then I take this back. :smile:
If you know how the server calculates the spread from the random number generated using that seed, then you can generate the same number (using the same seed) and use the same calculation to get the spread.

The client sends the server the seed so they will be synced. So if you have the seed and the cone of the weapon spread, you can know what the random number that is generated will be and base the calculation off of that.

Clientside prediction would then be screwed up and you would have problems. The weapon may not even work if it doesn't know the aim cone or whatever it's called, but I'm not sure.

Hmm right. I was thinking of giving the client a fake cone but I guess that would indeed screw up predictions. I knew it couldn't be the right way to do it or else "No spread" hacks wouldn't even exist anymore.

I get dropped from all VAC secure servers after around 20 minutes of playing, for no real reason at all. Guess what? I don't get dropped from any GMod servers.
