Preventing steam id changing? - Developers

I know it's not really related, But if this serenty shit collects packets, and sends them upon joining. Couldn't someone just sort of make their own serenity thing? There's alot of tools that allows you to sniff and send packets, asfar as i'm aware. I used to use wpe pro or something like that when i used to play wow a couple of years ago to get free spells by sending packets people collected. And those were like, freeware tools you could download. It shouldn't be that hard to do even if you're no programmer? Please note that i have no clue what i'm talking about and i'm just guessing. My guess anyway, Is that this is something steam should be able to fix. That shit was posted on a hacking site that comes up first when searching for "hacking" on google. I don't think it'll last long. When people release stuff like that it never lasts long.

Chrisaster then tried again in December, being much more successful now. Nobody can whip a SteamID out of nowhere - packet swapping seems like the only way.

You don't think I know that, when I was the main "guinea pig" when Chris first tried it? Although, the dates aren't clear in my mind, when was it discovered?

The people using it were one of the main cause, however they were not the sole cause. But then again when those people decide to break every rule, use hacks to see players hidden items, use aimbots and speed hacks, AND use serenity so they cant get banned, yah that would bring down ANY community. Not to mention DDos the servers when they feel like it.

Also, this is why you don't give your admins a plethora of powers, only giving them what they need with a custom system.
