Seriousy, everyone stop derailing. It´s normal for the scripters to vote for them, why the hell not? How do you think presidents do it? You gotta ask your people to vote for you. Now please, stop whining and just make one reply with a vote and continue what you were doing inb4 this thread.

The other three coders don't have 100 diehard fans to plead to

What does that say then?
Somescripter you already have enough money, let someone else win.
What does that say then?
Having a lot of fans doesn't mean they were well-deserved.
2/4 of these are still terrible stupid roleplay gamemodes so that ruins it

I'm sitting in a chair in a wood/stone/brick house
I'd say all of those gamemodes have their up's and down's.
To say there is The Best gamemode is like saying "Cake is the best dessert".
Which is debatable.
Comparing in terms of quality is also hard to evaluate. If you haven't designed the gamemode yourself you cannot really comprehend how much work and effort was put into the gamemode.
I assume most people vote for the gamemode they know best and prefer to play.
Which is ok in my opinion. But is this poll really representative?

I can't wait for the best scripter voting.

It's going to get ugly fast.
-snip-
Do the gamemodes have to be public in order to be nominated?
And who decided what to throw in the OP, since it seems like its just some RP gamemodes, Chimera Hunt which was released some time ago already, and the TF2 gamemode, which really looks like the only new and interesting gamemode up there.

kurozael is some chav that wrote Nexus and a few other boring HL2 RP scripts.
Also, the link to OpenAura just sends you to a billing page where you can buy generic RP scripts from Cloud Sixteen. You should probably fix the link so it shows the gamemode instead of the shopping cart.
On Facepunch a contest that isn't about popularity can't be organized.
[editline]conna sucks[/editline]
WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE
Haha, forcefully advertising their stupid little RP schemes on people, how clever. Maybe I should invest in a custom title for IdealHosting: "SMUG WANKERS" and have it link to a list of things you could better spend your money on than funding kuro's addiction to buying teen girls cigarettes.
This voting system is terribly flawed in multiple aspects. You guys don't like Conna, but he would have easily won based on vote count, so the last thread was shutdown so he wouldn't win.
I find this completely bass-ackwards, considering in the main LSA thread, you were even so much as encouraged to have friends vote/nominate.
Why is there suddenly a change in rules?
I know that people don't like him, but if he's playing your game by your rules, you changing them doesn't really say anything good about yourself either.
Just my two cents.
I agree with amcwatters. This is just getting out of hand and is frankly a clusterfuck. My original point on that something should be devised to have a fair playing field for everyone should be looked further into.
The problem was that since openAura was a script that was sold, gmod.biz/ideal-hosting/cloudsixteen had a massive list of clients who aren't involved with the community. Using hordes of children who play nothing but RP seems a bit unfair to the other gamemode devs who release their stuff for free without tracking who downloaded it.
I don't want so sound like I'm taking sides or anything, but getting that many people to register for the sole purpose of voting is ridiculous. Calling Facepunch members biased fascists as a response didn't really help their case either.
More importantly than those reasons is that the last poll didn't show who voted, so anyone could have potentially spammed votes with alts. It wouldn't normally matter except that people are competing for $200+ in steam games, and it would be way too easy to exploit.

Maybe I can distill the drama a little bit.
Remember, that at the very core the main reason why I did this was to recognize the best people in the Lua community. That's all I wanted to do. Plain and simple. I'd fork over a little of my own money because I respect these people and felt they deserve a little prize (you know, $20 at the time). That's why the system was set up as it is, whoever the heck wants to nominate can feel free.
Of course, when garry puts up $500 the whole thing changes. All of a sudden people have more incentive to vote to get the money rather than to just get the recognition and a copy of TF2 or something. So while nominating is all fine and dandy, the actual voting becomes a big issue.
Again, the whole point of this is to recognize people who make quality stuff, not people who have a huge mailing list of people willing to make accounts on Facepunch. That is what I did what I did, and there's no two ways about it.
[editline]6th February 2011[/editline]
Also, many people have brought up the system should be more fair or whatnot, but I have yet to see anyone show me a good, comprehensive plan for voting.
Steam chat anyone?

It really doesn't hold any ground if it was still totally within the bounds of the rules. I don't think his post above was appropriate either, but what I'm talking about is simply a matter of sticking to your word.

It isn't a matter of rule breaking, its a matter of character. I don't see how you still fail to grasp that.

I think you forgot to read the OP.
So get nominating! All of these rules and such are subject to change if anyone has a better idea.
Baw, this makes me wish I had finished my Zombie Escape gamemode sooner. :saddowns:
Also, I voted for UCH because I haven't played the TF2 gamemode and I absolutely can't stand RP.
This didn't affect my voting, but Conna does seem to come off as quite the prick.
My internet dropped out shortly after the drama last night. Coincidence?
Send Garry back the $500, so we are now working with $142, which is $47 per contest.
Give the winner $20, the next runner up $15, second from last $10 and the loser a $2 "well at least you got nominated" prize.
This is now no longer a FUCK ME I NEED THAT $200!!!!!!!!!!!!!! grudge match, and instead a cheerful "good job" party.
Better still:
Give the winner $5 and a custom title, and the runner up $2 and a custom title. We are now once more celebrating FP coders, and not giving money to people who don't actively contribute to our community.
I'm sorry but this is the worst idea ever. One scripter either deemed most popular or who's got a shitload of people to vote for him is going to get a ridiculous fuckton of money and extreme drama is going to ensue.
