Yeah, I also think that at least the first 2 or 3 should receive some part of the money:
First Place = $120 (60%)
Second Place = $60 (30%)
Third Place = $20 (10%)
The creators have put effort into that, so why just award only the first place?
Send Garry back the $500, so we are now working with $142, which is $47 per contest.
Give the winner $20, the next runner up $15, second from last $10 and the loser a $2 "well at least you got nominated" prize.
This is now no longer a FUCK ME I NEED THAT $200!!!!!!!!!!!!!! grudge match, and instead a cheerful "good job" party.
Better still:
Give the winner $5 and a custom title, and the runner up $2 and a custom title. We are now once more celebrating FP coders, and not giving money to people who don't actively contribute to our community.
Or stop changing the rules and outcome of the competition and just stick to what has been done.
Or just give me the money then do what you want with the actual "well done" bullshit
Sounds like a good plan, I agree.
I'm sorry but this is the worst idea ever. One scripter either deemed most popular or who's got a shitload of people to vote for him is going to get a ridiculous fuckton of money and extreme drama is going to ensue.
I want that money. :saddowns: Not for financial purposes or anything, but that would be like the first time I ever earn anything for something I have done. One year of coding didn't seem to bring me anything more than a tiny bit of popularity in the Gamemodes section, how the hell do you guys become so popular in so little time?
Although I'm truly surprised at the votes my gamemode received. I didn't know there were people outside of the Gamemodes section who actually interested by the TF2 gamemode.
Why are RP gamemodes here anyway?
They are the cancer of Garry's Mod.

Only the ones made by conna.(expecting rage from conna's community)
Roleplay was one of the good aspects of gmod9,gmod9 died and that roleplay followed it.

DarkRP isn't a GMod killer? I suppose your statement was more general anyway, so nevermind.

As stated before many times on this forum, RP isn't a bad idea, at all, but darkRP, shitty darkRP look a likes and massive shit servers/players that host/play it ruin the game.
and because so many people play it I don't think it's fair for other gamemodes like bathunt thingy and TF2
Well, as I said in the previous thread. Open Aura is from a quality-based perspective the most profound gamemode. You may like or dislike the fact that it costs money, but it's still clearly the most advanced, dedicated and deeply developed gamemode out there.
As the capitalist I am, I think it's very natural that it Kuro is selling it. The driving forces to develop such a product with high quality can in most cases only be brought by some classic trade.
Open Source is like communism. It's a nice idea, but it doesn't work.

Yeah... which is why all linux builds don't work, right?

You gotta be joking.
Is it even legal to make TF2 for garrysmod?
No game, no models or textures?
- Give textures with the game (Breaking Copyright)
Got the game?
- Go play tf2

I'm pretty sure it's not. But no one has said anything about it, and Valve wouldn't do anything about it, because it's not a big thing.

I don't get it,was that supposed to be a joke?
The gamemode is made in Lua,it always needs tf2 mounted and bought legally,i see no loss for valve here.
Oh,i got it,the good old "if you own tf2,why don't you play it instead of using this gamemode" argument, that's just dumb and it was discussed and answered many times before.
Got the game?

Nah, you don't get it. The main idea of the gamemode is to provide people with a communis- I mean, open source gamemode that approaches TF2, for various purposes such as machinimas, scripting, or just having fun. I think it's always interesting to play through Ravenholm and see how much the style and lighting in HL2 contrasts with the TF2 characters, it's almost artistic in a way.
Plus it's a fun challenge for me, I've learned tons of things about Lua and the Source engine by working on this.
But that's my gamemode, so I guess you probably won't believe me if I'm the one telling you that. :v:

qft
Now it's officially beleivable.
Yeah... which is why all linux builds don't work, right?
And obviously when you do get them to work linux is an extremely unstable OS, you probably won't keep an uptime of more than two hours.
Solution to all this drama: Only let people you've seen in LS vote/ or just ban kuro's gamemode. All these fanboys don't realize he isn't the best lua scripter and everybody else can do the same thing he can. What kind of person are you when you're voting for someone who puts malicious code in their publicly released gamemodes, when this voting is supposed to be about people who contribute to the community?
[editline]7th February 2011[/editline]
oh my vote goes to TF2
TF2 Gamemode
I think 100 posts isn't right D: Because I've been on facepunch for about a few months, I signed up because of TF2 gamemode (I wanted to ask a question on the thread) , and I mainly just go on occasionally to check on all the new gamemodes/TF2 gamemode updates.
I agree it seems a little unfair. It should be done by signup date instead really.
I find it odd that anybody is allowed to vote until they've played all the entries in the first place.

Actually it's an entirely legitimate question. A while back I was aiming to replicate CS:S (which is a whole lot easier I think to replicate), and I got pretty far, considering a majority of the project was HUD, and weapons. However, people gave me hell about it and thought it was a stupid idea.

I didn't finish it because I lost interest.

I know I am late but I am sure it's only illegal if the creator is including the textures and models of TF2, you have to own TF2 to play the gamemode, perfectly legal. He is also not selling it.
Kinda just thought of something, these awards are for the best Lua scripts. Correct me if I'm wrong but the part of OpenAura that makes OpenAura good is the C++ code...
I would like to have Tiramisu removed from the competition if OpenAura is going to compete.
Consider it a personal protest.
I'm a bit torn between UCH and the TF2 gamemode. On one hand, we have a fun and original gamemode, with great custom content. On another, we have a huge gamemode that has a lot of work put into it.

Give up. Nothing good about OpenAura is in C++.

ohh so would you kindly share this not-good c++ code with us?

No, because that would be showing you how my DRM works.
