I never said it would be uncrackable? That would be arrogant.

Have you ever heard of backdoors in OpenAura? No? Shh then. There are no backdoors in my sold scripts, just DRM. Actually no, only 1.07. Nobody has managed to crack 1.08 or 1.09 yet :)
Notice the cool 'or 1.09' edit? :iceburn:
So... what's open about it?
It's an open environment for roleplay. An open environment. Open. Aura. It's just a name, God damn. Why is a Mars bar called a Mars bar.
I thought you told me it was Open for Open Source because you got to look at the Lua code for free once you'd bought it? [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] I guess I remembered it wrong. I'll make a note this time.
It's an open environment for roleplay. An open environment. Open. Aura. It's just a name, God damn. Why is a Mars bar called a Mars bar.
I'll rename my Team Fortress 2 gamemode to "Counter Strike Gamemode", and see as everyone becomes confused. :v:
I thought you told me it was Open for Open Source because you got to look at the Lua code for free once you'd bought it?
He claims he gives out the lua code free but I don't really believe that since then all that needs done is replacing some functions defined in his DRM dll and you can run OA without authorisation.
It's an open environment for roleplay. An open environment. Open. Aura. It's just a name, God damn. Why is a Mars bar called a Mars bar.
Because Mars Bars are cool, and can have that name. Your gamemodes aren't, and don't get the right to a name like that. In computing , "open" either before or after a name usually means free, open source programs anyone can use and edit. With no fees. Your gamemodes are not this, and as such, using the name OpenAura has made you look like a bigger fool than usual. There is no such thing as a "open" roleplaying environment when there is a script controlling it.
Its not very open. Open Aura is about the most restricted role-play game-mode I have ever come upon. In before calling me a dark rper.
Voting for _Kilburn's Team Fortress 2 gamemode for the award.
Whoops, forgot the 100 posts thing >.> Damn it!
Personally I cannot understand why people are voting for the TF2 gamemode. It's incredibly unpolished, buggy and unoptimized. Sure Killburn put a lot of work into it, and I respect that, but just because someone put a lot of work into something doesn't always mean that it's good. Fable 2 is a good example of this. It had a lot of work into it, but I think that the majority of us can agree that that game was disappointing.

But yeah, I see your point, actually I'm not even sure my gamemode should be eligible, since it's technically not done yet. Still, I'd love to get some recognition for all the work I've put into it.

There are bound to be bugs and unpolished sections. However I find it hard to understand why people are voting for an unfinished and unpolished gamemode over a gamemode such as Chimera Hunt which IS finished and nicely polished.
I'd love to get some recognition for all the work I've put into it.
This. I'm more than happy just seeing my gamemode up there in the first place. :buddy:

A finished game mode has little to no room for improvement as the coder will usually wipe their hands of it and not add anything, a game mode in development on the other hand can be changed so much.

There are several game concepts with potential that upon being released don't actually end up being very good (Spore comes to mind). I'm not saying that Killburn's gamemode is bad though or that the final product will be bad, I just think that all the while that it's unfinished and hasn't yet reached it's full potential, it shouldn't really be up in this poll.
There are several game concepts with potential that upon being released don't actually end up being very good (Spore comes to mind).
Except that _Kilburn has already released versions of his gamemode, and it is not bad at all. We know is has potential and we know it is a pretty damn great gamemode because we were able to test it. Your comparison to Spore is a bit far-fetched.

Maybe my standards are too high but I see nothing particularly impressive about Killburn's gamemode as it is. Sure the HUD looks perfect and some of the weapon animations work nicely too but it just feels bloated. Granted in Singleplayer almost everything works great (even though it causes framerate lag for no good reason which actually makes it less useful for machinimas) but when I played it online, animations were glitchy (specifically first person animations) and a lot of the weapons caused lag spikes (specfically the scatter gun and needle gun). But hey I always seem to be in the minority with opinions, I think that prop hunt is a good idea badly executed as is trouble in terrorist town but hey everyone seems to love those gamemodes for some reason.

Random crits, damage spread, every game mechanic has been reproduced flawlessly, and it feels like you're playing tf2. As for framerate lag, I haven't noticed any, but I'll run some numbers and get back to you. Framerate lag isn't an impact for machinimas though, just record a demo and convert that to an AVI. Google "Source recorder tutorial" for more info. As for online, I can't find servers running it, so I can't comment.

It's good to have high standards and I respect your opinion. Can't really see what else I can say about this, everyone wants to win, my gamemode happens to have been entered into this contest, and I happen to have a lot more supporters than I thought. I'll make sure not to enter an unfinished gamemode next year, if that really bothers people. Oh, just a little detail, my username has only one L in it. It just bothers me so much when people misspell it that way. :saddowns:

Oh shit, poll's closed. What's going to happen next? :ohdear:
Only 3 nominations? Come on dude there's plenty of other worthy gamemodes out there. Wouldn't hurt to throw other things into the poll. It's debatable whether a RP script is even a gamemode.

Shit, I was asleep. ... AND THE WINNER IS _KILBURN! I'll do a quick tally to make sure that enough of _Kilburn's voters were eligible, but I doubt with that much of a margin it'll be a significant difference. I'm going to wait until all the polls are closed and the winners are announced to gather up all the money and then we'll decide collectively what to do with it.
Everyone was given a chance to put a gamemode up for nominations...
Well i didn't see the thread. Plus if there are only 3 nominations, why not wait until there are more?
Well i didn't see the thread. Plus if there are only 3 nominations, why not wait until there are more?
Thread was open for about a month and a half that's long enough and its not are fault you didn't see it
So much flaming at Conna. Hahaha. And grats _Killburn. I didn't managed to vote in time tho :(.
Open Aura hands down, if you haven't played it and you enjoy role-play, do it, I know Kuro hasn't had a very good past, but it's not about that it's about the scripts, so yeah In my opinion, OA FTW. (Woops forgot it was over lol)
