Is there any excuse to not replace Awesomium which is apparently complete shit and a huge resource hog?
1) Licensing 2) I don't own OSX/Linux device, so I can't properly test on said platforms 3) What makes you think other solutions are not resource hogs? 4) Time I will have to spend single-handedly replacing the whole thing I am not saying it shouldn't be replaced, or that it's not shit.

Garry's mod sold millions of copies, Im sure he could afford it. 2) Pretty much the same, why does not Garry provide you one? 3) Fair enough. 4) True, pretty much the same thing again though. Why are only you working on gmod, (dont get me wrong) and not a real employee that only works on gmod. And ofc, noone if this is your fault, but Garry's.
2) I don't own OSX/Linux device, so I can't properly test on said platforms
Dual boot or install them on a second hard drive?

I am a noob on this but I know it is open source and supports all OS'.
Is Chromium not free? I am a noob on this but I know it is open source and supports all OS'.
chromium is a web browser, not an "embedded api" or whatever you call it properly webkit is the engine
chromium is a web browser, not an "embedded api" or whatever you call it properly webkit is the engine
Ok that makes sense :) then never mind what I said.
WOW robotboy655 NOT GONNA LIE it looks like matt knows a lot more than u do about this lol................. maybe u should just listen to him.................. :)

Linux runs on everything. I personally like Linux Mint.
1) YOU GUYS (FACEPUNCH STUDIOS) HAVE COHERENT UI LICENSED ALREADY 2) Linux will run on your PC already and why not ask Garry for a Mac? 3) Because I've literally posted benchmarks so many times, fuck even garry replaced Awesomium with Coherent UI because he understood how shit it was 4) I've seen you waste time on less, the API for CUI is super easy to replace Awesomium with.
Coherent ui has been licensed for unity, not c++

Isn't _Kilburn helping ?
2) I don't own OSX/Linux device, so I can't properly test on said platforms
what sort of excuse is this. "i can't be bothered to download the latest ubuntu." i can sorta understand the os x thing because hackintoshes require specific hardware but what is stopping you from dual booting into linux? i mean, shit, even virtualbox has 3d acceleration for guests. worse comes to worse you could probably run an os x vm and do your testing there? it's not a perfect solution but it's better than just letting gmod html support rot.
Tried hackintosh with AMD, half of my hdd got corrupted :/ And a virtual machine it's not always the best solution
Running a Hackintosh really isn't that difficult :( OS X in a Virtual Machine runs fine.
Isn't _Kilburn helping ?
I know I'm really late but uh, what happened to Killburn? I know he stopped working on Gmod but, what happened?
Isn't _Kilburn helping ?

I know I'm really late but uh, what happened to Killburn? I know he stopped working on Gmod but, what happened?
He wasn't around for about 5 months now, he said he was in Japan or something during summer and was super busy with work when I talked to him a month or two back.
I don't mean to press down more requests or demands on the development, but could TraceRay -- and more importantly -- ClipRayToCollideable bindings be added? The ClipRayToEntity request has been open for almost two years now and model/hull scale tracing outside of FireBullets has been fucked. I remember Robot saying that binding UTIL_ClipTraceToPlayers was causing crashes, however, that can be created in Lua if ClipRayToCollideable is added. I'm currently having to do a lot of hacks to get my DoD weapons to support the DoD playermodel size by doing empty FireBullets traces and tracking the damage in a hook for melee weapons, which is severely hacky and not prediction friendly. Adding this would also fix the TTT name hovering issue.
Isn't _Kilburn helping ?
vinh'll fix it
Realistically speaking, how long would it take to replace Awesomium with Coherent UI or something else that you find suitable, RobotBoy? We all know it's really just a matter of development time, as the other points you brought up provide no real obstacle, as there's ways around them (VMs, etc.). Also, yes, I know you'd likely be working on it singlehandly, but honestly it desperately needs to be done even if that's the case. I believe in you. <3
If Robotboy won't post his PayPal to the public, would people be willing to trust me with a donation button leading to my PayPal account so I can send him the money or ship him a Mac myself?
If Robotboy won't post his PayPal to the public, would people be willing to trust me with a donation button leading to my PayPal account so I can send him the money or ship him a Mac myself?
I definitly would. I dont know if others would, but you're definetly a good person and a decent person. No, im not gay
If Robotboy won't post his PayPal to the public, would people be willing to trust me with a donation button leading to my PayPal account so I can send him the money or ship him a Mac myself?
I already bought him two games to add map support, so I'll donate to add Mac support :badzing:
If it means getting rid of this shite awesomeonim i'd happily send some money his way.
If Robotboy won't post his PayPal to the public, would people be willing to trust me with a donation button leading to my PayPal account so I can send him the money or ship him a Mac myself?
I'd donate if Robotboy confirmed if he actually asked garry or whomever he speaks to above him for a mac to test on.
I'd donate if Robotboy confirmed if he actually asked garry or whomever he speaks to above him for a mac to test on.
I could always refund everyone if it doesn't work out. Anyway, it'd be great to see if that were possible. I doubt garry would have any problems doing that since I remember him saying in a blog post or something that he's pretty rich :v:
I think that the main money issue is paying coherent UI, costs $3500 for proyects that reach $500k, and i guess that gmod reached that budget, so god knows how much does this costs now
I think that the main money issue is paying coherent UI, costs $3500 for proyects that reach $500k, and i guess that gmod reached that budget, so god knows how much does this costs now
But hasn't rust already exceeded that also?
I support awesomium being replaced to combat its issues. KEEP CINEMA ALIVE!!! :D https://html5test.com/ 521 on chrome. 335 on awesomium I know it would be a lot of for you but it would be greatly appreciated :( <3 1) Licensing id pay an extra couple of bucks on the game if money is such a big issue. 2) I don't own OSX/Linux device, so I can't properly test on said platforms Virtual machines. 3) What makes you think other solutions are not resource hogs? TBH Winterphoenix and DarthTealc said it all. Handsome Matt killed it. shots fired!!! 4) Time I will have to spend single-handedly replacing the whole thing We understand it may be a lot of work... and it greatly appreciated from all communities. I hope that maybe if you have time you could consider changing/updating the support for html5 :) Thanks for everything though !!! ~zep
What happened to adding a binding to UTIL_ClipTraceToPlayers? Bullets the only way to use it.
What happened to adding a binding to UTIL_ClipTraceToPlayers? Bullets the only way to use it.
It apparently caused crashes when bound in Lua, however, it can be made in Lua alone if ClipRayToCollideable had exposure.
