So, _killburn is back, yay, will Multicore support ever see the light of day again, in the future?
Don't get me wrong, take your time, you guys are doing awesome work and we are all tired of people begging for Mc.
I just want to know if I should hope for a "It's done when it's done" or just give up on it.
multicore support is in the game, but its currently pretty buggy and can crash your game randomly with all sorts of fun lua errors, oh and AA doesnt work for most stuff drawn in a 2D manor. here are the commands to enable multicore support:
cl_threaded_bone_setup 1 --seams to cause most of the crashing
cl_threaded_client_leaf_system 1
r_threaded_client_shadow_manager 1
r_threaded_particles 1
r_threaded_renderables 1
r_queued_ropes 1
studio_queue_mode 1
gmod_mcore_test 1
enabling all of these should at least double your framerate
Honestly, mat_queue_mode 2 helps me far more than everything else listed above
Honestly, mat_queue_mode 2 helps me far more than everything else listed above
yea, it all depends.
I remember Fredy trying to use those convars, with his sli'd gpus and the whole game went rainbow
Boosted from 200fps to 400fps, anyway, i'm using vsync, my gpu overheats too easy and 61 is enough

200fps in gmod? .. What magic configs are you using?
I can only get around 30-40 fps when looking into the ground and standing at the corner of the map. (GTX 970 and an I5 3.80GHz).
Edit
And 15-20 FPS when standing in the center/looking at anything.
I've been running the the cvars posted above for months, only issue is DHTMLs constantly causing crashes on both my Mac, PC and a few players of my servers.

Is it possible to have some measure agaisnt this?
Cause after a chat with the owner of these "Servers" He plans on changing the ip and sticking around.
(But he did not make the spoofer)
(He also says he sold it to atleast 3 other servers)

I went from 80fps to 190fps, I don't care how unstable my game gets with these commands. Everything even seems to load faster as well. I'm definitely not turning them off.

cl_threaded_bone_setup does seem to be causing most of the crashing that I've encountered, everything else along with the mat_queue_mode 2 especially still work great thus far.

No AA, 720p, and just a tiny map with 2 textures, on a HD 6950 and 3.5ghz FX6300 (Can't even run fo4)

Can't we just add logical measure against this? I mean seriously, if a server have more than 128 players, just ban it, if the server's name it's weird, ban it, if we have anykind of weird map result, just...Ban it
Stop pushing up servers that uses a fake player number and just dropping new communities, that's just fucking unfair, but this were garry's way to make gmod server with high population, more popular
This is too funny

Cheers for letting me know.

Whats funny is your community is so shit you have to resort to such measures to bring players in. :goodjob:
On topic is that ban list dynamic or does the game have to be updated before such bans take effect? If its the latter then its a horrible way to try and combat the problem, simply because how much time are in between updates.

You bought this program for >$50 and it is not going to work after the next update, and the person you bought it from won't know how to update it and neither will you :3
I feel bad for the programmer, because i'm sure that aero will try to dispute the case...

Do you have a monitor with 60+ hz? Unless you have than there's no real point in making the game less stable.

Is it too hard to press "Add to blacklist" for you?

I don't understand this, why don't we ban all of his servers if he's even proud of his "satan-like behaviour"?
This message was just a provocation.

Whats hilarious is you thinking anyone outside of these couple people even cares about you. Much less thinks you're important enough to be "Satan".

So if 20 servers did this every week you'd enjoy blacklisting 20 servers every time.
Okay, I will not take the piss and spoof player counts anymore as you all are clearly annoyed by it.
One thing though, as I want to keep my servers together ( Easier for my community to find with IP changes, new servers we're playing around with and testing etc. ) am I still evil for doing this?

It's 2/2 because the server browser downranks full servers, and I want it at the bottom.
why not just make it a definitions file (with ip bans) that gets downloaded on game start?
why not just make it a definitions file (with ip bans) that gets downloaded on game start?
Honestly, IP banning is a very rudimentary method of achieving anything, its not like IP's are expensive or hard to come by ( Especially with OVH ), and then after the intended person whom was meant to be banned stops using said IP, it may cause issues with future servers trying to start up which I'd argue is just as unfair as spoofing players.
But by all means, build up a list of IP's.

The upcoming branch has sv_setsteamaccount, which you can use to give your server an unique steamid, if a user then saves your server to the favorite, that steamid will be kept and used by steam to search your server again even if it changes IP.
You can use http://steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers to create a new token for your server.
All the servers need an unique token, you can't reuse the same one.

Oh, that's a neat idea. But would that mean that if I had the same unique ID on multiple servers, they would all show up in the favourites after a players adding one of them?
Oh, that's a neat idea. But would that mean that if I had the same unique ID on multiple servers, they would all show up in the favourites after a players adding one of them?
You can't use the same token for all of them, steam does not allow this, you will have to generate one for each, but as long as your users add all of them to their favorites, there will be no problem.
[editline]8th December 2015[/editline]
Also according to https://forums.alliedmods.net/showpost.php?p=2096011&postcount=1 the command needs to be in the startup parameters, not autoexec.

Right, I mean the purpose I do that is to make new servers we're testing with easily visible. Still a nice idea though

And how does it feel, knowing that you are the cause for some unlucky server-owner?
I bet OVH would loooove to hear, about your rouge servers that might damage their later customers. It's not rocket surgery.
You could setup a master-server for gmod to check player-connections vs the server details. Something like what they did for TF2.
- New servers start with 0 points.
- Each time a player connects it loses 15 points.
- Each min a player spends, it'll earn a point (max 45 pr ply).
- If server details don't match for more than a day .. auto-ban the server.
And how does it feel, knowing that you are the cause for some unlucky server-owner?
Honestly, I couldn't care less. Its not my game nor my problem. The community is toxic anyway so I'd be doing the server owner a favour if anything.

i got an huge fps improvement because of this
