What I was about to say is simply it shouldn't be uploaded public. You may PM him and get access to it (e.g. I have access to it). But a public-release before it is done and reliable generally tends to people judging it on that state. And even if it gets better until release people remember "how bad it worked" in earlier stages so they still say "it's bad".

He told me he never actually wrote the module for it, but that he knew how it could be done. You need to calculate which vertices lie outside of the clip plane and then essentially ignore them and rebuild all the remaining ones into a new physics object. It's not exactly impossible, but it wouldn't be easy either.

He stated exactly why. He does those videos under strictly pre-planned and prepared conditions and wouldn't want to deal with people complaining about it not working correctly all the time. I know exactly what he means when he says this.
That makes perfect sense, but still; I can't help, but feeling sad for not having it ingame ;)
So what are the problems with it at the moment? Are you still working on the collision stuff?
I started trying out the guardian module, but it doesn't always work. I just discovered that some of the siphoning calculations must be off a few days ago when I made the horizon mobile by parenting it to a gate because it was not working right. The objects still crash into the world when they go through the horizon, and I have no reliable way to turning off the gravity and then restoring it to it's original state. So yeah, the physics are the main concern right now. Though I've been working on and off, it's mostly been me ignoring it. Too much crap to deal with. I think my new projects are much more interesting and rewarding... so... yeah.

Now that i think about it, having it invisible but collide is still an improvement on what we have now. Also what are your other projects?
Bah, you skipped all the important collision tests you noob! Or deliberately avoided them because you know that you'd be able to physgun the prop on the other side of the portal unless you added some CanPhysGun crap! That + trying to run into the part which is still 'solid'. To be fair, the best way to handle that bit is to use a plane side equation with the collision hook module. Gods.

Gods.[/QUOTE] Calm down dude, there is a PhysgunPickup hook wich disalows a player from grabbing a prop and there is a way to make props not collide with the ones on the otherside of the gate while not with the others (Guardian module).

I'm sorry I didn't bother to show everything in a video I chose to make for your enjoyment, boo hoo. Yes, the guardian module is working with it, and yes it is using a directional comparison to determine collisions as well as integrated entity variables for quick comparisons when possible to avoid calculations. So it will not allow you to pick up entities from the wrong side.

I give up, no one was really of any help and I don't play gmod very often anymore. Feel free to mess with them.. if you want to. The .bak and .txt files are there because I did make some crappy backups and I wrote down some idea tests... I don't really care if you all see them anyways. So yeah, modify it all you want, I don't care to further this project anymore. If you want to ever release it or use it in a video I'd appreciate some credit for it. It's only really useful for videos and pictures as it is now because if just deletes/kills entities.

I didn't take it away. I did the kind thing and released what I had! If you want it to be perfect then you edit it or start from scratch... Simple as that. Though a few people (that I know of, there might be more) have already begun to add to it.
Look for the Atlantis Addon Pack.
