I'm not bothered about compatability with the update just yet, but if it turns out the melons don't work with 2007, then I'll just fix and rerelease.
I've always wanted to use melons in combat...NOT as the actual projectiles, and now I can...megaw00tz to you!
I scanned through the posts and didn't see this question: Can the next update allow the melons to be turned on and off through the keypad, so they don't just start shooting?
Idea: Goto STool.
You take out the goto tool, choose team and then just click anywhere on the map, this will command your team over there.
Just make it restrict which melons you control by team and steam ip.
We don't want abusing players!
I have an idea for an melon! an pilot melon, a melon that you put infront of your ship, has no attack but has a lot force, meaning it will force the ship to point in the direction of the hostile ship!
Or you could just make an force value slider in the tool menu :)

lol you didn't read enough I put that. It will not be there for a while due to how much he has already promised.
I have an idea, add core melons, they are the very source of control, and once it goes down, the whole thing blows up. Because when the ship does go down, some melons are still going.
A rail gun melon kinda like the rail gun from C&C3 that would be cool.

That view would be perfect for the RTS gamemode if this ever turns into one. I made a melon wars gamemode ages ago had soldier and things just like this but I could never figure out how to make the melons shoot each other :( and in my rage I deleted the code, I'm annoyed now :D
I wish theese were snpc's and could like, "reproduce" themselves and spawn their own ships and bases.Had to have been like a 4 prop max per ship though, so it would'nt lag too bad
Before you take in more ideas i suggest making adv. duplicater supported :D so we can save our battleship layouts and stuff :D
I'll try and get my ones updated soon, but unfortunately for you, I've discovered TES4 Oblivion, and it has taken my soul.
The medic melons need different colours when healing, it's red even if they're blue. The range of healing is too big, I got melons about 10 meters away and they would still heal.

Side note: Medics need less range, and cannons might be better with even less power, or maybe less power but a faster firing rate. (right now the first cannon barrage often decides matches)
Oh, and Advanced Duplicator support would be mad awesome.
I had some fun with the LUA code and made my self a fast firing machine gunner melon, it's quite balanced for the low damage. The vehicles that you can make with the melons has a down side, you need a pilot or driver that has a far range to see, so it can move to the enemies without you moving it. Although the simple script allows easy modification, all we need is a on/off button.
Everytime the [B]cannons[/B] shoot this happens:

This idea reminds me of the prop wars gamemode I scripted in gmod9. It was similar in that players constructed vehicles out of wood, and could convert props into commanders or turrets. Commander props could be ordered around in an RTS style, and would capture nearby wood mines (thumpers). Turrets would rotate and fire towards nearby commanders or turrets on a different team.
It was a pretty complex gamemode - special props cost resources (more for stronger commanders and better turrets), and physics was more important because turrets fired physical cannon-balls that could be deflected by slanted armour. It was basically a wood wars rts. Unfortunately GMod10 happened before I released it, and now I can't get Gmod9 to work :(

COOL, can't you do your mod for gmod 10 PLEASE, or maybe for gmod 07/08 if it take too long

Could you do so the melon targetter changes any prop into a certain team? instead of making it a target:) It's really annoying that you can't repair your wooden contraptions with this :(

Unfortunately, I don't really have the time to remake the mod for gmod10 - it's just a shame that gmod9 servers don't work anymore, because it was literally complete:

There were a variety of weapons - cannons (that aim ahead and take into account gravity), lasers (weak but accurate), rockets (expensive and slow firing) and artillery (expensive, very long range cannons with explosive shells)

A vehicle is disabled if the commander is destroyed.

Hopefully this Warmelons (WARterMelons) idea is expanded to something approaching this, a full RTS gamemode where you construct the units and hold points.

It does make the prop team affiliated, though. That's what the team slider thing is for. Works fine for me, the props won't get shot by allied melons. Also a prop repair melon doesn't sound too hard. I'll get on it.
It's quite easy scripting up your own killer melon, I've made a core box that pilots your device.

i actually prefer the idea of this staying away from RTS
and just improve the melon AI so they can just be placed and do battle
Need bombers. The idea itself is it just drops something like an orange colored to the team color to the ground when an enemy is under it in a certain radius, and it explodes on contact with anything. This would be pretty cool, to see bombing runs and such.
I want to make three maps for this, a plain one, decent sized, with no hills or anything, just for full on battles with straight on fighting, a kinda hilly map with a few hills and depression, some low (about half the height of an upright melon) some moderate (around the height of a melon), and a few taller ones (two to three melons high), and last, but not least, a city map, with some small buildings, large enough for a melon to navigate, but not people sized or anything, with streets, open area, and the like. I actually might make these my first maps to finish, so long as I don't need to npc node them, haven't experimented with that yet.

Also, I really don't like people trying to make this overly realistic. I like my self-firing cannons. Having all sorts of things and having to set up this for that to work just makes it too complicated.
The melon soldiers that go on foot are quite slow. May I suggest... mounts?
