Yes indeed, what are the problems with it? It seems pretty stable, other than a grid I think I saw on the projected part. EDIT: For god sake man, release the code to that, even if it's not finished, it would speed things up so fast, or at least make the gmod youtube player more fun D:
I dont have any bug solutions, as i do not know how to code stuff. But i was wondering whether or not there is a beta release of this.
This is useful! I agree with those guys.
Heh, my projector is practically in the shitter now that you've all made your own that are pretty much 10x better than mine.
I rated you optimistic. Don't give up!
I second that, DO NOT quit, please dont, for some reason, people around here dont seem to like releasing this stuff O: So grea$emonkey, please dont stop, or make a partial release, or something, for those of us who just want to mess around with it. Until the other guy releases. And here's something to think about... almost 3 people have been trying to do this, and only one has done anything, but we dont know of a release date at all yet. So yeah, what if he doesn't? or SOMEHOW someone out-does HIM? WHO will ever finish this thing? D: Anyone that agreeds, please mark agree.
Well, the thing is, if he doesn't tell us how he got there, we won't get any further.
Well, the thing is, if he doesn't tell us how he got there, we won't get any further.
Of course we can, we just go through trial and error until we get it right.
Of course we can, we just go through trial and error until we get it right.
Agreed
Great! Now we need it to be able to take screenshots in game and display them! Then we need to be able to mark on them... (Plan of attack anyone?)
Lets just keep to the original plan, if anything, and we have to scrap half the project, just make a working projector that can take the output from the youtube player and project it onto walls. We dont need any fancy photoshop going on in gmod, just a projector at this point. Doesnt matter if its good or bad compared to that other guy's projector, just what matters is getting it finished, and going on to another project. We dont want to wait 2 years for a projector, when someone else has almost finished it, we never know if they will release it. So at least we can have some hope in monkey for now.
If it only projects a youtube image it's just gonna be a shitty version of the youtube player.
How hard would it be to make a projector that projects simple webpages? Not full videos, and stuff, I can tell where you were coming from, but when the incentive goes down, so does the amount of effort you will put into it. So try implementing stuff into it that you can, like webpage display, youtube projections (I really cant imagine how it would be any worse than the thing on gmod.org), idk, display picture links? (Online Picture URL Projection?) Something small, and fun for people to play with, and im sure I could come up with quite a few uses for picture projectors, that grab a picture from a URL and projects it onto the wall. :D (Can you say? Multiple Projectors in a Museum, displaying various pictures from an online gallery?) and again, what incentive does this other guy have to release? How long has he been on this anyway? and grea$emonkey... even if all of this was to be outted, AT LEAST, you learned new stuff right? that you can apply somewhere else in the lua world.

Right now, except that one person, we've only managed to (afaik, grea$emonkey?) display static textures.

Really though, it was a fun experience wasn't it? D: Not sure what else I can say at this point. Every major project i've seen got stopped or never released, so I'm just hoping to GOD that the other one DOES. EDIT: And is it just me or is his channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/maurits150) completely flooded to the point of where noone can access it? EDIT EDIT: Took about 30 tries, but I got in, but he has no updates, no threads on it, nothing at all. and definately not a possible release date. This is all very depressing... ._.

I can assure everyone that I am still working on this. I am also getting support from some good friends. Just to be honest I kept all this stuff hidden so I won't get annoyed with the endless 'when are you going to release it???' messages. Also when people don't know something is possible, people won't try to release a most likely shittier version of it either.
Just tell us how you did it, why not? Currently, I've only managed to render youtube (working) using 2D3D, but even with html:AnimateStart) it's stupidly laggy.
He probably doesn't just want someone to make something similiar (steal his idea).
I agree with DarKSunrise. We dont want someone stealing the concept that maurits150 is using to make it work so well, with grea$emonkey, at least it was original, and he gave it his best. I'm sure this isn't the end for monkey, so let him cool down and think of something else to make.
I suggest get a life. If your depressed about a project not having updates, then something is wrong with you. If you read, you could see how much I dedicated myself to getting updates on the Portal Project, which led to the pretty much 100% conclusion that VCS went A-wall; so this was mainly to make sure maurits150 was still alive. on another note
I can assure everyone that I am still working on this. (Project, not projector) anymore nice media is welcome, but we are not trying to force it out of you.
Completely flooded to the point of where noone can access it?
I was referring to how I couldn't access your youtube channel worth shat, and had to try over 30 times to get it to work. How to move YouTube player material/texture to self.flashlight:SetKeyValue( "SpotlightTexture", ??? ). To replace "???".
How to move YouTube player material/texture to self.flashlight:SetKeyValue( "SpotlightTexture", ??? ). To replace "???".
That's the issue we face.
and theres no wiki on it?
and theres no wiki on it?
Well it's not that simple. The web-page needs to be converted into a texture, which is rewritten every frame, and that needs to go into projectedtexture without crashing. RT may need to be worked into that somewhere, but you get the idea. It's gonna require a module no matter how you look at it.

Did maurits150 use a module?
-;16844984']Did maurits150 use a module?
we will all find out in due time.
Sorry, but how many of your posts are just filler, for your post count?
Sorry, but how many of your posts are just filler, for your post count?
I've never looked at the post count ever since I joined this forum, and since you mentioned that, I looked at it for the first time. No, I don't give a crap about my post count.
-;16844984']Did maurits150 use a module?
I didn't use any kind of module when made that video, but I might need one later.
