Could you please convert all of the max/min depths to .ft, because it seems that they are still in source units in the .lua catch files. It would really be helpful because currently, catching anything but jusnk is IMPOSSIBLE.
source units are being converted to meters in realtime. So no, I won't do that. The reason it's hard to catch anything but junk is because I don't really have that many things to catch. This is why I made the thread so you can come up with something. I'm totally out of ideas.
Here is my first try at a fish, I call it Aquamine. For now it's attracted to melon bait. It's similar to the angry babies, once you catch it you can kill it by damaging it. But this fish hates angry babies, and will chase them down and try to kill them. It doesn't use speed as a weapon like the angry babies, but it has a shock attack and will shock any player or angry baby that gets near it. I'm totally out of ideas.[/QUOTE] no trust me, it was messed up. Because I decided to go in and check out the min depths and they were 200. In the game, I could barely get 20ft on a deep lake. Then, I decided to modify the files, dividing all max/min depths by 16, and guess what? I caught angry babies, dumb fish and such as easily as in your tech demo. So.... I have all the catch files default, with the min at 200. And with a depth of 16 I caught angry babies.

Why not just make this a gamemode? No server will be fishing+building. To me if i want to fish, i would play a fishing gamemode. Not a fishing addon.
Made it so the fishing info stops rendering at long distances Fixed re-catching of re-catchable catch Added some new catch Fixed some bugs Reduced the amount of downloads by registering the entities in the catch files instead

But theres more than melons as bait, and obviously some require certain level's Example: angry baby : bait -melon and melon chunks - level 3 Headcrab : bait -snowman head/or HGIBS - level 7 Radio: bait -antenna's - level 2 Heavy Weapons Guy: bait -sandwich - level 4 Explosive barrel: bait -butane cans and cs c4 - level 2 Aquamine: bait -melon and melon chunks - level 3 Dumb fish: bait - bugbait - level 10 Also you hook the bait with the rod and hook.
I'm currently working on the money system. I'm thinking about what you can use it for and I currently have these ideas: - Rod length - Reel speed - String length - Hook force I'm not really utilizing the force in catch yet (currently nothing will fall off), but I was thinking that you would for instance need a really strong hook to catch angry babies and so on.

It will be a while before I commit anything I think. But when I do it will be a major change cause of the whole money thing.

I was at your server $Python and I played with this :3:
Huge commit: - Money - Upgrades for your rod - More catch - You can spawn bait and it'd automatically hook if you have your rod selected there's probably more of the small ones, but I can't remember them. You start of with a weak rod. You can access the upgrade menu by pressing use + reload while you have the rod selected. To get money you can either catch money or sell things you catch. Notice how catch like angry babies can't be caught unless you have a strong hook (force) and that you need a longer string length. I changed the string length so the hook from the bobber will always stay in the middle. This means that the hook will go deep instead of just staying 1 meter under the bobber. I'm getting kindof bored with the mod. I'll do bug fixing and stuff, but nothing huge. I think the mod is mostly finished anyway, I just need catch more and stuff.
Well then If you're still fixing bugs: I can't see the little object window for Aquamines and Angry Babies. I can't sell any of the headcrabs, or the small round gas canister. When any living headcrabs die, they can't be deleted or sold. As for live headcrabs, all the ones I caught died before I could check them. You should put the Baits to the entities so its easier to find them, cause i have many spawnlists. Just an idea

Keep getting this: Hook 'Fishingmod:Think' Failed: entities/fishing_rod_hook/init.lua:85: bad argument #1 to 'Create' (string expected, got nil) Using latest SVN and no custom catches.
