I quickly drew this up before you posted that message, since I wanted to give it a go :v: I've only just noticed the coolvetica I have installed doesn't allow me to do non-capitol letters and I've always wondered why mine looked different to everyone else's. Please don't be afraid to call my design shit just because I'm a mod and my title mentions I do graphic design, I am perfectly capable of producing garbage. -poop-
your design is shit on a more serious note: too narrow, feels cramped, search icon looks stretched, the indicator dots in the carousel are gigantic, thin white text on light grey background is not entirely readable.
Thing about the crampness is, I'm on a 4:3 monitor from 2005 so I always do everything pretty small so it actually fits on my fucking screen :suicide: Yeah, the colours were sort of place holders, if anyone has a better colour-scheme I'll try it out. As for the indicator dots, I made them smaller but they were really hard to see because of the image I'd chosen to display :v:

As long as there is a category that will allow me to download the latest save files of alyx sex poses I will use it.
As long as there is a category that will allow me to download the latest save files of alyx sex poses I will use it.
I'm quite sure we do NOT want saves and dupes on this website, because that's where the workshop and GMod.org failed.
Could there also be a Wiremod/E2/EGP section? That would be awesome.
Just have a special "adult" category. Maybe somebody will make a sex gamemode.
How about we put together a list of features that we want for version 1 - then the design can incorporate those features? In my case, I want dependency management - but that's not really for single downloads - that would be a way of updating your addons using site as a repository - so it might be a client-side app which does the fetching.
Do you mean like "Also available on workshop" or when you upload, it uploads to the workshop as well?
I meant also "Available on workshop" with a button you click to take you to it. But that second part is a neat idea, if it's optional, because what if I upload something already on the workshop?
Sorry for making something so shitty.
Just thew this together, I'll make more later tonight with different themes. [t]http://i.imgur.com/RfYfV81.png[/t]
God no
Uh and making mock up visual designs without us even having a design draft (not visual, generally) for the site is pretty pointless too.
Can you please stop making them for now? Would be way greater if you saved your creativity up until there is something you can work off of
I meant also "Available on workshop" with a button you click to take you to it. But that second part is a neat idea, if it's optional, because what if I upload something already on the workshop?
I havent looked into the web API for Steam but I dont think its necessarily possible since the workshop crap is user uploaded, so uploading from a third party website doesnt really make sense, but I could be wrong.
Okay since there's different themes, designs and colours going around and we all seem to disagree lets start with the basics. Lets get a colour scheme sorted first: https://kuler.adobe.com/ http://flatuicolors.com/ http://www.flatuicolorpicker.com/ http://www.colourlovers.com/ EDIT: We also need to agree on the actual content. We've already established we're not having dupes (correct me if I'm wrong). Are we going to have a featured scripts bit? Just a huge tile system like the current garrysmod.org? Not sure about everyone else but I think having the status bar like this is a good way forward. It's going to allow us to add additional icons in the future if we want to add other pages/content or other functionality rather than others I've seen in the thread which are fixed and have no room for expansion which is going to be an issue, especially this early in development. I feel a bit more colour would be nicer though.
"Tells the sidebar to fuck-off" Best description 10/10 lol, anyways thanks for your design!
I think we should set a tooltip, so if you mouse over the sidebar collapser, a tooltip saying "tells the side bar to fuck off appears"
Is it already final that the site will be responsive according to screensize?
Maybe sections and subsections would be good. Like say I want to search for gm_ maps a filter for that would be nice as well as roleplay. Sort of like how gamebanana sorts stuff (except not crappy)
I would actually like to help though, but I'm not sure in which degree and what I could do. I started with NodeJS not too soon ago but I'd say that since I know multiple languages already it was just finding out how to structure a project, right now I'm getting better and better at it. Thelastpenguin helped me with some NodeJS shit, and I also wouldn't mind hosting it.
I'd love to help, too. Can design stuff, and use NodeJS (and PHP but that's probably not needed here). I designed SourceChatJS.
If we're going responsive here's a handy tool for testing: http://responsive.victorcoulon.fr/
I think he literally just meant a user provided link to the workshop download if it's also on there.
Yes, I do. I need to work on explaining things. Also, how would you prevent stolen content, i.e "i found it and uplaoded it bcuz it's kool", or just duplicate uploads? If an addon gets flagged for theft, how well is it going to be background checked? This I need to know, because I got screwed over and steam banned for people false flagging my work as stolen.
I'm still for manually approving each addon
I think we should have automatic checks, and then have a (possible) manual one to look for possible exploits.
I think we should have automatic checks, and then have a (possible) manual one to look for possible exploits.
Automatic search for RunString, etc, if found, mark for manual review. Seems like a nice idea.
If people really wanna do smth bad, then will then just game the system [LUA]_G["Run".."String"][/lua] And we can't check for all that
If people really wanna do smth bad, then will then just game the system [LUA]_G["Run".."String"][/lua] And we can't check for all that
Check for _G, most addons won't need to use it unless exploiting.
gonna need to be some low level checking, as there is a lotta diff ways to get around it
I got a neat idea to check addons however it might beat the point. You might have some use to this To upload you must own a Steam account. If what you upload is anything that's not a script, it must be packaged in a .gma or .7z, and already exist on Steam Workshop When uploading you are asked to enter the Workshop ID. For example the Workshop ID for The Enhanced Soldier V3, is 293615372. The website then checks the Steam Workshop to see if you were the one who uploaded it. Depending on the outcome, two things could happen. If it passes, your addon is uploaded successfully. If it fails, you get a mark on your account. How it checks can be a few things 1) If the steam account that uploaded it is the same one uploading it to the website 2) If the file content is the same, the second one could prove useful in disallowing reuploads from people who didn't make them
