this isn't really an addon fit for workshop. the issue is that you need to keep a small program running 24/7 for it to work and it's pretty bandwidth hungry on top of that.
Good point, I could see it more for singplayer though. I'd love to run around spamming songs from text-to-speech.
... It actually worked... works with entities too... Automatic updates are the future...
Makes me want to bring my updation module from my CMS to gmod; I've already brought several other systems over from my CMS.

Yeah the TTS is taking loads of bandwidth. One generated file is about 100 kb, 20 people talking in chat = 2.000 kb = ~ 2 mb / second. Is bad with 20p kbs upload. compressing it down on the other hand might take too much ram. You shouldnt have this unless you have a vps server with really much bandwidth.
Changelog: - Changed the gamemode name to GSmash - Removed Melons and added a new damage system instead - Redid nearly everything and made it 60-70% faster - Added ultimate weapons support - Made the gamemode even more friendly to non-tf2 maps Weapon - Added another weapon: Random - Added Piano [An ultimate weapon that targets the leading player] - Made an ultimate-crate spawn at the flag after x-time - The ultimate-crate got a 25% change to kill the player who tries to pick it up Sound - Made a mute button to stop the music in the chat-window - Made the music auto-mute when Gmod lost focus - The mute button now saves its state when joining another server HUD - Added live-score - Remade the weapon-materials - Redid the death-feed Going to open a beta server in 1-2 days time .. depends on my job.
GSmash
No melons anymore? It seemed like a great part of the game.

[img_thumb]http://i4.minus.com/iIpvShRkGu8xe.png[/img_thumb] (any price >= 1000 is gold) Not really sure what I should do to list prices - just trying to find a way to fill the void of empty space. Maybe I should just have two items listed per line instead? though with that being said, I still need to find where to show the amount of points someone has. could also change the color of the points amount if you don't have enough, instead of changing based on how expensive it is.
How'd you get the text to look shiny?
How'd you get the text to look shiny?
render.SetScissorRect for the top and bottom half individually, with a darker color on the bottom.
No melons anymore? It seemed like a great part of the game.
They tent to jump out of the map and people complained that they where tricky to pickup. Most (if not all) TF2 maps got a player boundary that only affect the players. [del]I've so far only heard complains about them .. but if people want them back, I'm going to bring the old name back and have an convar to switch between them and the new system.[/del] Consider them back.
Worked on this over the weekend. Porting SNES9x to a garrysmod binary module. (Yes I've also replaced the gmod footsteps with silly footsteps of my own design)

Computer withing a computer within a game.

I still need to work on the balancing a lot, though, considering I got two players to ragequit during playtesting yesterday. :v:
Looks awfully similar to that 'Green Shift' gamemode I made ages ago.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/wbGxDQL.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/wxjmt2l.jpg[/t] been experimenting with this, instead of just spawning drugs infront of you, you have to order them online they get sent to your mailbox which takes a while, and you have to go pick it up. there's a chance that the package gets confiscated, and the police gets alerted. [t]http://i.imgur.com/hiMmn1f.jpg[/t] the weed vendor can get temporarily arrested by the police
Looks awfully similar to that 'Green Shift' gamemode I made ages ago.
I remember playing that, it was a good gamemode so I've probably drawn some inspiration from it subconsciously. I haven't been making an effort to copy anything, though, and I guess it's more of a learning experience to me. [editline]20th October 2014[/editline] oh jeez found videos of it it really is similar, guess I'll try to make it somewhat more unique
the weed vendor can get temporarily arrested by the police
You stole my idea I came up with on the toilet yesterday... :tinfoil:
:words:
I'm sure that's cool and all, but I couldn't bring myself to stop laughing my ass off when I heard the footsteps.
just found out about queued mysql queries, completely removed the huge lagspike when saving apartments i really need to stress test more in the future
The default MySQLOO doesn't have that, does it? It would be very useful. Also, you can insert multiple rows with one query like so:
INSERT INTO tbl_name (a,b,c) VALUES(1,2,3),(4,5,6),(7,8,9);
Of course you can use INSERT IGNORE or REPLACE INTO to not have to bother with duplicates. Also, be careful with concatenation: concatenating strings in a loop might just take O(n^2) time. table.concat Is more efficient. Removing multiple rows is obvious
DELETE FROM tbl WHERE Id IN(1,2,3,4,5,6,23,421,4124,12341,2412,42142134,124)
[editline]20th October 2014[/editline] With the variable amount of fields it might not work with queued queries, but you'll only need to send a single query to the server. I'm sure the RTT save (and Think hook syncing time in MySQLOO) you get on that is worth it.
it's using the darkrp mysqlite thing, i gave up on my implementation since it lost connection and spazzed out all the time would be neat to make it like that, but there's way too much code to be redone

Silly me. MySQLite's queued queries just calls them sequentially though. No parrallel stuff being done there. Someone made stored procedures, I thought you were talking about those.
yeah it was in this thread, right? at least it helps the lag, froze the server for like 4-5 seconds when saving just a few props, and now you won't even notice it
I don't think I ever posted that, it was a test for an in-game editor/entity manager.
Just going to post this real quick, here's a video of a HUD I've been working on: Edit: Video tags hate me :^(
