You know, this is exactly the kind of shit that creates this whole leaking problem to begin with.
What? People leaking scripts causes leaking to happen?
People leak because they don't know what they are doing, they have the best intentions, a "Robbin Hood" spirit I like to call it. They don't know that the people they are stealing from are just regular people like they are, selling their code because (generally) they need the money. I've explained this to everyone who ever leaked my shit. And I've actually turned everyone I spoke to around. They didn't only stop leaking my shit, the people I spoke to stopped leaking. Period. In fact, a few became very honorable and honest CoderHire users afterwards. You may have not started the problem, you're only making it worse by denying someone's efforts to change. [editline]24th June 2014[/editline] I forgot to mention that I've seen numerous posts on leak.sx that suggest people leak BECAUSE the devs are assholes.
Or they do it because so e secs won't give support or make you pay for support? Or they want more rep etc on leak.sx?
Or they do it because so e secs won't give support or make you pay for support? Or they want more rep etc on leak.sx?
No one gives rep on that site, so it's hardly a motivator. What do you mean by "e secs"?
No one gives rep on that site, so it's hardly a motivator. What do you mean by "e secs"?
Obviously he means what you're having instead of real secs Ooohhhhh [editline]24th June 2014[/editline] In all seriousness we don't know Matt's real life situation, for all we know he might actually need that money.
No one gives rep on that site, so it's hardly a motivator. What do you mean by "e secs"?
Check ur keybrod, yo It's fairly obvious he meant "because some devs".
Ya sorry about the mistype I'm on a iPad and it's not the best for writing out sentences because of autocorrect etc..... The person who posted on top of this post got what I said right
Regardless of weather or not you actually need the money, you should still treat your potential and future customers with respect. I agree that Devs not giving support for their CH addons contributes to the problem. If we look at it from the customers perspective:
1. Yay! I finally have the money for this cool addon! 2. ...I'm having trouble 3. What? The developer isn't responding? [or] What? He/She didn't help me with my problem at all! 4. CoderHire devs are all greedy assholes! 5. Why did I waste my money on CoderHire? It's a scam. I will leak addons so that other people won't go through the same shit.
The point is, the customers are simply unsatisfied with the service, so they try to make it better for others by playing "Robbin Hood". The asshole CoderHire devs give CoderHire a bad reputation, which creates the leaking problem. In the end, (because, well, we're talking about money, here) by respecting both my future and potential customers and giving them a great service, I made over 1.5 times the money Handsome Matt made, even though he has been on CoderHire longer than me and he has more products than me. So it shows that being nice to your customers do have rewards.
You made a lot of money because you made that ultra sexy bank addon, you put a lot of work into and got over 1000$? If am right which by far surprised me.

Simple install issues because user can't figure out how to extract the folder is not supposed to be the developers problem. I barely give any support, and I still get shit loads of sales. It all comes down to how popular your script is, and how many people are looking for such a script. You could make a shit script and even offer to setup the script for the customer. That wouldn't get you lots of sales if the script isn't good enough quality.
Well your scripts are things people want which is mostly the reason why you get sales, Like the Bank armory and Cop Armory there a roleplay aspect and owners like to make there server more "Roleplay" so they buy it.
Yes, script quality is the main factor that drives sales, and I don't tell everyone how to drag and drop folders. With problems like those, I just reply "read the readme". When I mentioned "trouble" meant stuff like lua errors, or compatibility issues. That all said, I don't want to discuss sale numbers as much as I want to stress what's causing the leaks; Asshole devs who come across as "greedy" to the customer. Then the customer extrapolates his experiences, and concludes that all of CoderHire devs are greedy. Yes, ARCBank is popular. Yes, it's great quality. Something like that would get massive sales. Just as something like that is surely to be leaked. However, it isn't because the customers and I have a mutual respect. Or, we could put in one more factor, which I think is the biggest one other than asshole devs. People who genuinely, legitimately want the addon but are, for whatever reason, unable to pay for it. I will now direct your attention here and here. I took the same approach most mobile apps do today. Having a free version, and a Pro version. The free version still has the uniqueness of ARCBank, yet the pro version is more polished and has more features. By releasing a demo/try-before-you-buy/free version, all ARCBank leaks have stopped, and my sales went up. So, it's the developers fault if there are leaks. Not the leakers.

But what I find strange with your addon is that if it find a server with it then disable custom files it makes the bank an error expect the screen but then that is pink and black textures, I can get why the screen is pink and black textures but wasn't most of your addon made of phx props that have been cut into shapes and materialized?

The few that asked me "How to install" or "How to manage" I just replied
Put the 'arcbank' folder in your SERVER/garrysmod/addons/ folder. To manage ARCBank, just type 'arcbank admin_gui' in console. For more information, read the readme.
It's not that hard to just paste in a one-size-fits-all generic answer. I just do that, they are satisfied, and we both get on with our lives. What are you asking about ARCBank, anyway? Free version uses a basic-ish custom model with PHX textures, payed version uses a 100% custom model. Comparison: (Just images from google) [t]http://i.imgur.com/FKSeoTv.png[/t] Old model (ARCBank v1.0.X or v0.9.X or [FREE VERSION] ) [t]http://i.imgur.com/b89XfbD.jpg[/t] New Model (ARCBank v1.1.X or later)

The 1.0 aka free version I get errors from it when I have custom files disabled but what I don't get is why is the bank then an error if I already have the exact props that are used to create the bank model? Or is that just it the game doesn't handle it that way and you have to have the actually file to see modifications of that item. Plus I find it stupid where if you don't have a map and you tell it to only download map files and you join a server with the map you don't have it says you don't have the map and so you have to enable custom files just to download the map when original you should be able to download it with just the setting of only maps. Ps. Do you make the model for your addon yourself?

All the admin gui does is just call RunConsoleCommand on the client for whatever command/setting they want to change. Then, the settings are stored in a table, which is saved on the server drive using util.TableToJSON. When the server starts, it reads the settings using util.JSONToTable It's not hard to make things user-friendly. Free version (Which is 0.9.7f, btw) uses fast dl, not workshop. Mostly because.... I don't officially support it.... and when it came to that rambling about maps... I don't know what you're saying, dude. Get a keyboard for that iPad. PS: The old one, yes. The new one, the creator of GBombs gave it to me. He told me that the old one looked terrible. Although he didn't ask for anything in return, I bought him a few steam games as payment.
http://coderhire.com/scripts/view/1135 This is stupid IMO I thought CoderHire denied 5 second scripts.
Generally the mods deny stuff that doesn't have or shown effort.
Generally the mods deny stuff that doesn't have or shown effort.
It doesn't look to impressive to me. That's just my opinion.
well he did vgui i hate vgui so i think thats effort :v:

Would be nice if something could be done to fix the loading times, they are really bad and have been for quite some time now...
