CoderHire is using a custom framework I wrote based on the features of CodeIgniter (a horrible, horrible decision). I'd recommend Laravel which is a mature, well documented and feature rich framework.

Yeah, looks like Laravel going to be leading php framework soon, at least according to google trends. Also looks bit more complex, but I guess it's worth to learn code in it than be sorry later.
