http://coderhire.com/scripts/view/33 1000$ from a chatbox, I'd end up paying some ridiculous amount per month the way I'm going. :suicide:
It is a lot of money, but then people are making a lot of money too. You can already extend your subscription when you like.
I faintly remember (correct me if I'm wrong) you saying a long time ago that the subscription fee was to filter out non-serious coders (and keep everything running), and to me it seems as if it's working quite well.
Why not do a system that instead of paying the developer directly, it goes into your funds, and the developer can request/automatically receive payment - a % cut for you?
You are saying that because you have no script put on coderhire or just acting stupid ?
I don't really like the idea of paying 10%. Like Phoenixf, I make like 1000 dollars a month. 100 dollar a month is quite a cut, and paypal also takes charges :c. I kinda like the price at what it is at at the moment, 15 dollars. If anything, you could increase it a tad based on how much the coder has made in the subscription period. But still keep a max at something reasonable, say 25-30 dollars.
Quite well. I'd like to make it my full time job.
Then by all means do so, but I, and many others, would prefer if that didn't impact our earnings in the process.
Then by all means do so, but I, and many others, would prefer if that didn't impact our earnings in the process.
Well a small impact isn't all that bad. I just hope _Undefined considers many possibilities and make sure he picks the right one.
Quite well. I'd like to make it my full time job.
Just, don't get greedy and all should be well. You may not have considered this but competition can arise if you charge users too much and when this is your full-time job you're gonna have a problem. The way I see this page in this thread is Socialism vs. Capitalism, I don't sell scripts so I'm a socialist and think you should add a fee to the 'Capitalists' or the wild sales, since they're making more than enough. This is of course, because you're considering making this your full-time job - just keep in mind you don't want to get greedy and completely fuck up.
Well a small impact isn't all that bad. I just hope _Undefined considers many possibilities and make sure he picks the right one.
The problem is that, for a lot of users, it's really not a small impact.
The problem is that, for a lot of users, it's really not a small impact.
That's the purpose of my second sentence you know.
It was a question more than a fact. I can see peoples reactions are mostly negative so it won't happen.
Well, someone suggested you make it optional, so perhaps being able to choose would be a good idea?
I don't think putting the time in to do it would be worth it for the few who would use it who have low script sales.
I've already suggested this, but if you want to do such a thing we need to branch out. Minecraft Bukkit plugins, SourceMod plugins, it'll bring a lot more market in.
You'd wanna separate everything up, though, quite extensively. I think that's a really good idea, but shit could get pretty messy if all thrown into one place.
I've already suggested this, but if you want to do such a thing we need to branch out. Minecraft Bukkit plugins, SourceMod plugins, it'll bring a lot more market in.
this is actually a really really good idea
Making it an option is kinda pointless. There's a donate button on the "About" page, where you can donate any amount you want. The option would only work for people who sell for under 150 dollars a month really. It wouldn't be worth the time for like, a 5-7 dollar difference. People take a chance by buying a developer subscription. If you really have something proper to sell, you'll make money on your script. Maybe Undefined could make the donate button more clear? Show it on the bottom of the page or something. I think people would be more temped to donate some money if they notice the donate button more often.
I actually had the button on the bottom of the page for a few months before the scripts stuff was added and it was used maybe once :v:
What about incorporating the 10% system INTO the initial donation and/or a/the subscription. As in.. maybe a smaller initial fee or none at all, and the developer pays 10% of the earning UP TO the $15 for the fee, and maybe up to the next month's subscription? So they don't pay any extra, really, but if their scripts are truly doing well, they can have it automatically take the money made from their scripts to continue the subscription. Like a(n optional) recurring payment based off your script's success that doesn't hurt your overall earnings.

Not a developer, but just a thought based off what I've seen and since we're on the subject of it. Perhaps as well make subscriptions automatically billed each month instead of everyone having to manually do it? Even if they get a lot of warning, I think a lot of the developers would appreciate it to be automatic in case they get busy or forget. I mean it's not like they wouldn't be able to cancel it before the next month, so... just an idea that I'm throwing out there.
Maybe lower the Dev Subscription ($10?), and take 3-5% royalties? I don't know really. Just putting ideas out there.
eBay takes 10% but limits the max amount paid to like $250. You could probably do something similar except cap it at like $15. In all honesty though, 10% is a pretty small fee for a digital distribution platform: apple is 30% and steam is relatively close to that too; the humble store takes 15%; and eBay takes 10% along with any listing fees plus paypal fees.
-snip- also this guy was pming me, he wanted me to make him a realistic money printer.. for 15 with him having all the rights to it I don't honestly understand, I put a really good amount of work into my payday 2 scripts and I would rather do a pub release then sell it for just 15$ especially if I won't even have the rights to run it on my own server.
It all depends how much you really want $15 dollars.
I'm not willing to put hours of work into something for someone else to be able to resell it especially after I just made 65$ from my current script on the site
what do you think I said..?
It was me hinting that there was no need to complain about it on the coderhire thread.
It was me hinting that there was no need to complain about it on the coderhire thread.
you kinda suck at this man, not gonna lie
http://coderhire.com/users/view/4374 So I apparently got threatened by this guy. Because I applied to a job (before he was banned) and he added me, I accepted but we were never on at the right time, he actually comes on today. Tells me a sob story about how he was ripped of "22,000" because "someone with the IP of _Undefined" hacked his system and took it from his bank, and how "I called the cops and reported Coderhire 3 times". So I ask logical questions, just curious, and he immediately turns on me, stating how I shouldn't talk down to him and need to learn who he is before I speak down to him. Note, this is after I ask him to not insult me when he calls me "retarded". After that it just goes downhill and he threatens to DDOS me, throws insults at me and tries to throw swings at me. Just want to say thankyou to _Undefined for taking out the trash.
