Just a suggestion, searching profiles by a name or a steamid.
So, Despite my previous postings:
I understand what all of you are saying, I really do, but getting your script sold is completely circumstantial; It all depends if your script is even wanted in the first place - A Gamble.
I gave into the pressure and bought Developer Status for $10. Upon doing so I released a script - twas approved and I waited to see if any sales came. Rather then getting any, somebody else, posting their version of the same thing receives them. My Price: $10 His Price: $9.99 I'm bummed.
The guy already sold 3 of them. I feel bad for you for getting undercut like that, but when it comes to making money people will do just about anything.
The guy already sold 3 of them. I feel bad for you for getting undercut like that, but when it comes to making money people will do just about anything.
So true, but now it just inspires me to make some even better scripts to be on top! Of course, I need ideas D:
You know, I guess it's all bout luck. I've sold 9 of my Log System (15$), 3 of my MOTD (10$) and 7 of my car dealer (15$) giving me approx. 270$ - 10$ of the subscription.
About the tags. You should add more tags because to be hones when I would click on the HUD tag I expect to see huds for different gamemode. I don't expect to see ---> DarkRP F4 Menu, ChatBox , an edited TTT scoreboard. Right now there are 7 huds for different gamemode but in the HUD section are only 2. You should add some rules so people will tag their script correctly and add more tags. This is my opinion if you or anyone else don't think so, it's fine with me.

You can't really add a rule to tell people what they should tag their scripts as.
People tag their scripts with things they think will make them money and get their script noticed. Hud sounds right. [editline]19th July 2013[/editline] In other words. There needs to be more tag options.
I agree with both and that's why I said that there should be more tags. About the rule thing, if when you are adding a script on the top to say something like "If you select tags that doesn't have anything to do with the scrip you will be banned". Before the moderator approves the script he should look at the image and tags and if the tags are incorrect he should be ban first time for like 1hr next time it happens 5hr,10hr,1day.... After a few people will get ban everyone will tag their script carefully.
You should add a rule. People might misstag something because they think its the right tag, but its not. I tagged my f4 menu as HUD because that was the closest to vgui/GUI I could find in the tag list. We can't have million of tags, so we just need something that most things can fall under.
Pretty sure I said to PM me suggestions for missing tags in the email you were all sent :v:
Very much appreciate the comments section! Would it be possible to have a 'unsubscribe' button or something along with it? I keep getting notifications for stuff where I've asked questions on and have finished with.
I wish it were that simple :V I've put up a little intro to selling scripts for those not sure how it works: http://coderhire.com/about/index#selling_scripts
Someone fucked up the formatting for posts. Headers work, that's about it...
That's because you were using html when you should have been using markdown!

I made the traitor kills and chat scripts, I ticked "hud" simply because there's no "vgui" or anything similar. The current system is very limited.
Added vgui and chatbox. Anything else?
Added vgui and chatbox. Anything else?
Embedding Youtube videos worked yesterday, now it doesn't seem to. Is that on purpose? EDIT: Usually accepting scripts takes 2-3 hours, so I put in my videos section "Put video here before script is approved." It got approved in 15 minutes, before I could make the video. You definitely did that shit on purpose.
I tried using MarkDown for new lines, which I think is >, and it doesn't work :( Btw, is the website ill?
Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@coderhire.hullwebhost.co.uk and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. New lines in markdown is a newline. Working on it being broken.
CoderHire is down only for me ? [editline]20th July 2013[/editline] Well, I just wake up so of course I'm late and I didn't know is down because last night it was working.
It's back. Sorry about that.
I made 2 sales in like less than an hour (for $12.50 each). I feel like all of the work I did paid off. :) 3* :O
The guy who is selling a default feature of DarkRP comes on to my script to post a pastebin link to a script that doesn't have anywhere near the same amount of functionality then goes to another to complain about my tag usage... Really, dude?
Both of his scripts are freely available in different forms, either built into a gamemode or in an outdated addon. I think scripts need to be moderated more carefully and places like Steam Workshop or garrysmod.org should be checked to make sure the uploader isnt just selling other peoples work.

Something like that.
It said on a rules page on CoderHire they check the internet for parts of the code before approving it. Something like that.
Can _Undefined elaborate on this a bit? I can already see the start of an influx of rushed TTT logging scripts obviously made just to grab cash, I wonder if CoderHire will attempt to stop this sort of thing.
it's up to the people what they buy, at the moment it is just not allowed to resell scripts in any form or to sell anything other than you own work. Malware etc. is of course not allowed either. 5 second scripts are not allowed, however it would be unfair to reject a script simply because there are already 10 other of the same sort, competition is always good. We generally go through each submitted script, check them according to these guidelines, look on google, garrysmod.org and Workshop and if everything is good accept them. Sometimes it's very hard to tell if something is stolen or maybe just influenced by another script. If you notice any stolen scripts please use the report button next to the script title, we take these very seriously and stolen work is removed and the user posting it is banned from the site.
Here's the thing: you can sell whatever you want as long as it it's your code. If I find the code on the net, it doesn't get approved. If it gets reported and taken down, buyers can chargeback. I'm being paid to provide a place to sell the things you've made, I aren't going to stop anybody selling something just because it's like others. 5 second scripts though aren't going to get approved though.
Do you think you could setup something so that when a client purchases a script, and paypal sends them back after payment to coderhire, that coderhire can optionally make a JSON post to a set url by the developer containing the users SteamID64 and email? This way we can setup licensing services for clients or whatever else people want to do with that information.
