non tangible = seller wins completely if he's done it via bank/card etc.
If it's unauthorized (he tells paypal his acc is hacked) he will also most likely win.
If he just says product not as described etc then the seller wins instantly (Providing the right checkout circumstances where met and coderhire isn't setup as if it's a physical purchase etc).
I'd say in the response field that it's digital content and no physical form is provided; the digital goods were delivered however if the user would like it burned on a CD that option can be provided to them as long as they cover shipping and cd expenses.
That may make it harder for them to just close them and this is one of the reasons I am not uploading my scripts to Coder-Hire yet on top of the lax security, by the way I can help securing the site; PM me.
One thing that does help win paypal disputes is to provide images of the login process, the checkout process, etc. Each page. There's a Firefox addon called Fireshot, or Screengrab. It'll take photos of the entire page. If you show that the page is empty without logging in with a valid Steam account which does 99% digital transactions ( which helps in proving they knew it was digital what they were receiving ) on top of an image of the script page ( each page including comments, reviews, etc ), the check-out process, etc. Every single step needs to be shown to these people so they can't argue that it was a legitimate transaction.
If they still do the chargeback, call the credit-card company directly and open a claim with them; this could get you your money back in addition to the fee that paypal charged.
If it was their credit-card and they filed a fraud claim, they need to file a police report stating their card was stolen for most credit-card-companies to reverse charges... If this wasn't done, it's easier to prove credit-card-fraud, a felony..
Chargebacks cost in excess of 20$ (from you) if someone chargebacks. PayPals novelty fee.

In the US maybe...
I've lost my card and had payments canceled before, banks will do it without police reports.

Correct; it's what they require in the states, or at least where I live, in order to file a charge-back / fraudulent payment.
So some guy had filed a chargeback with his credit card against the paypal purchase, and despite all the evidence i gave Paypal showing them that the guys credit card was not stolen and he made the purchase himself, they reversed the transaction and fined me $20.00

How would one avoid said $20 royalty fee, i've sat on mine for a little bit, Godz chargebacked on over 10 scripts and you banned him.

Sent you a PM.
I rang them, have to wait until the card issuer replies (~20 days), guaranteed my settlement fee back however.
Paypal replied saying that they won't return me the money because digital goods aren't covered by sellers protection.
Paypal what the hell [sp]basically I can go buy a steam game now and charge back because digital goods aren't covered by seller protection.[/sp] Thanks paypal for being a shining example of a true payment processing service.

steam disables account tho if you do that
steam disables account tho if you do that
pretty much any digital media related online store will do that
steam disables account tho if you do that
Even worse when PayPal auto chargebacks a steam transfer
Had my store/trading privileges revoked for almost a month while we sorted it out.
Steam: "Talk to PayPal"
PayPal: "Talk to Steam"
Ended up just revoking my L4D2 license and a first and final warning
Hey adam is it possible to get a trello support sorta like github. Would be useful for bug tracking. Person reports a bug I submit it to trello with a comment and title.
https://trello.com/docs/
Is it too much to ask that the owner of the server buy scripts instead of his stupid "coders"? I'm so sick of people with zero purchases or anything on CoderHire coming to me asking for support and then I have to interrogate them to find out who the fuck bought the script.
[editline]5th March 2014[/editline]
This dude comes to me via PM asking for help without naming what addon he needs help with.
Then he names something VAGUELY like my own addons so I kinda figure he's talking about that.
Gee why would I ever be suspicious of you mysterious person I've never seen?
:words:
Don't you use the tracking options provided by coderhire?
I'm paranoic, always when someone ask about a script on steam i have fear about they found a place where they got my scripts :tinfoil:
I remember one who ask for TTT support, that he will buy it soon, but not now because he would like it for TTT
After i pushed the update and sent the message never heard about him anymore, he just *puffed*

Something similar happened to me a few months back now, not related to CH though. I complained to PayPal and they gave me £50 compensation because they took over £100 away from me. It's worth a shot to complain if you're in the right and they're in the wrong.

It's best if you do as I say and call their corporate office.

Reduce Fraud
Our extensive security measures and understanding of the unique vulnerabilities related to digital goods commerce help reduce chargebacks and risk related operational costs before they happen – saving you time, money, and increasing overall customer satisfaction.
According to that; they should cover it for sellers... Call them out on it by calling them on the phone. Google Gethuman Paypal!!!

Yes, but that is only for Business Accounts, or Businesses if I am not wrong, a generic account wouldn't be covered, however the buyer isn't covered on digital purchases/goods either, so the only thing they CAN do is chargeback to their credit card.

I do have a business account; but that wouldn't have helped me with the tangible goods charge-back case I won...
Hmm, since they did a charge-back through their credit-card, and because PayPal isn't technically a "bank", the credit-card company may not take PayPal seriously. Call the major credit-card companies, or if you know the card-company then call them directly and open a fraud investigation case against the buyer; they have to open an investigation and allow you to communicate directly instead of relying on PayPal... This should get results; if not, call the executive office of the card company directly. Be respectful and professional when speaking with them. Let them know what happened, let them know that the digital goods have been delivered and a refund can not be granted because of the fact that they received the goods.
CoderHire should have a very strict TOS or EULA / Terms of Purchase which states that refunds may not be given if they have downloaded the product. Additionally I'm sure CoderHire logs all downloads. Because of this, you should have no problem proving the client downloaded the content.
When speaking with the card-company, also inquire about how many previous fraud claims were opened on the card, and if the card has been canceled or any police reports filed regarding the claims. If they allow people to continuously charge-back without issuing them a new card, then they can be held liable because there is a legal clause in which the card-company can be held liable if they did nothing to prevent credit-card fraud from continuing such as by not issuing a new card when fraud is claimed. This legal clause is an umbrella and can apply to pretty much everything when someone does nothing to limit the loss ( example: continuing to provide a service even though someone is severely past due -- meaning they get a maximum which is up to the judge in court if they sue and anything over that is their fault for not stopping services sooner )..
I'll have to look up the exact name, but it could be a term you can toss in the fire if the card company didn't cancel the card when a fraud claim hits especially if they have multiple claims.

i was affected by the credit card chargeback too but tbh 30$ just isn't worth this trouble for me
A question, how can i know if someone did a chargeback, because i'm sure that i had more money...
A question, how can i know if someone did a chargeback, because i'm sure that i had more money...
You'll receive an email, and it will show up when you log in to PayPal. Something like "You have unanswered claims that require your action". It's pretty obvious when you log in.
i was affected by the credit card chargeback too but tbh 30$ just isn't worth this trouble for me
Unfortunately, we don't all make the kind of revenue you do; So that $30 can hurt.
I'm really curious what happens to the people who spend $100 or more to make gamemodes. Like, do they get finished, are servers put up?
Maybe they do and I don't notice since most of them are RP related which I don't really pay much attention to

90% of the servers are "custom" darkrp, it's hard to spot anything new..
