I have a lot of explaining to do tomorrow with my girlfriend. How am I going to explain who the girl in the photo is.. and hell, how will I explain where I got the hair from. The girl I can explain, she'll never believe the hair part.
Who wants to use a marketplace with a Bootstrap template? And not to mention its horrible.
Templates are well suited for admin panels/personal sites, not a damn commercial site. It makes you look unprofessional when you didn't do the design yourself

Whats with this "Do it yourself" attitude here? PLENTY OF WEBSITES are made by Designers. Plenty of professional ones too mind you.(Schools, businesses, etc)
Your comment is horrible, but wait let me actually explain why. You just say something is shit without providing any useful feedback, people customize templates all the time to fit there needs. People hire designers to do what they do best. Is navigation confusing? Is the overall color aesthetics not pleasing? Is there an issue with branding?
Like i understand, learning skills such that go along with designing and creating a website is great. But to critique something and just say "You didn't make it yourself, templates are bad, the website is bad" is horrible advice.
To be fair, not everyone is a designer at heart. I'd much rather spend time working on the back end of a website, than fiddling with CSS and everything else to get it just right.
That's why typically in companies like mine, we hire people whose job is to focus on that aspect (front end, back end, etc.)

The problem isn't just visual, though. I think the bigger problem is that there's a general arrogance and ignorance to his entire project. On all levels it's bad:
1.) Business and Marketing: Misunderstanding of taxes, lack of familiarity with company policies (Minecraft and Steam), blatant lies about partnerships
2.) Web development: Non-existent understanding of security (which is a big no-no, might as well end the project if you can't take care of this, seriously), seeming unfamiliarity with web development past throwing up Wordpress with plugins
3.) Web design: Unable to come up with an original design from scratch, merely tinkers with templates that are designed for another purpose and feel terribly cluttered
Really, it just doesn't seem like he understands anything. And that would be totally fine if he wasn't embarking on a project. I've only fooled around with programming in my free time with basic understanding of programming languages. There's no way in hell I'd feel comfortable handling people's credit card information. Fucking that up could be legitimately criminal, and here this guy has decided to dive in as if the only thing that can happen is people speak ill of the project, although I question if he even anticipated that.
This should have started as a non-serious project that handles money far, far down the line. He should be starting tutorials on how to develop a back-end for simple mock websites with something like Ruby how-to's. He should start with Intro to Marketing classes. He should be Googling the basics of web design. And that's why I legitimately think this website should be taken down immediately - it's not because I hate the guy or anything. It's coming from a place of panic - I can see the trainwreck waiting to happen. Some might argue the train has already hit, but I think there's a greater potential for things to fuck up, and it's all because he's handling information regarding people's money.
this site is a fucking disaster, close it thx
On another level -- I get you guys want to be a ScriptFodder competitor. You guys have this ambition to take this site somewhere. But maybe think about the fact of just keeping it as a free script source for now. Keep it up, but allow free submissions only. Take the year to build up your user database, fix issues, take user-feedback, and expand your knowledge of security, web design, etc (and gain a reputation to show people, alright, we aren't going to just go down after a few months).
Then, in a years time, re-evaluate where you are at and then see if you guys are in a position to start focusing on a paid model and of course, this also depends on what you've learned in the past year and the ability to take care of any and all issues that arise, especially taxes (legality) and security (your life support). Use the free site as your learning grounds, get a feel for the atmosphere. While you're free, you don't have to deal with the taxes, people bypassing your site to get paid mods for free (which would REALLY piss a developer off), and it'll give you a feel for whether or not you want to/are ready to actually be a competitor.
what a circle jerk
I don't understand why you guys give this thread the time of day. Why not just let it drop down to the second page and rot? you're just craving for drama.
We all agree that the site is not being handled properly, even remotely. Is it so important to repeat it so many times? it's falling on deaf ears.
Because on most of page 1-2 he was at least decent looking but at the end of page 2 and page 3 & 4 he's been a cunt.
Ok this time I broke usernames and now I'm Dr. Api :o

You are really dev? SQL inject? XSS? No validation of user input. Little to no knowledge on how anything works. All my other points are already listed above in wauterboi's post.
Before setting up websites some English courses would be appropriate.
