Then they have two versions to manage, considering that only two people are working on the game that would be big pain in the ass.
I don't see any changes that'd have to be made to the Awesomium version -- I'd give it two more weeks for them to release a new version before I say just switch or let all HTML die.
None of you are really thinking of this from a business standpoint. Garrys can't just let a couple thousand users buy his game then be like "too bad", release an update that makes the game not work for them, and act like everything is okay yet he just fucked over all those clients. He needs to keep those users in mind even if they are a pain in the ass and holding back progress.
Uhh, yes he can. EA does it all time. You can no longer play Darkspore. It's gone forever. I paid for it and now I can't play it. Tough shit says EA. There are tons of games that companies shut down all the time.
So the argument has devolved into "EA/x shit company does it so Facepunch should too!"?
Nice one.

Edited; now we're talking about cinema/playx/HTMLfuncs users instead of mac ones.

Let's be honest here, the mac version is broken atm anyway. Any server you join, it crashes. It always lags too. This is really stupid to not give 99.99% of the GMod players a performance boost and new features because of that small minority. So many games say that they support Macs, but when you actually play them on Macs it's all broken and laggy. There is no reason to hold back GMod because of them.

Off-topic, but this is a serious problem and Ross Scott (Freeman's Mind) recently started a YouTube channel documenting games that are being "killed".

On topic: I think it's fair to say that right now, there's nothing to be done about CEF. There are 2 possible plausible solutions that I see, but they're both conditional:
* Use [post=50570043]the new version of Awesomium[/post] to be released in the next few days because it's just around the corner guys!
* Make gmod a 64 bit application on mac. I don't know how hard this would be, but I don't believe it's impossible. Still, I'm sure Willox has already looked into this option before deeming it too time consuming or too <something>.
So yeah, 64 bit is not going to happen and Awesomium is entirely out of anyone's control from Facepunch. This leaves us with the only course of action available at this moment: do nothing.

Willox' Mod

"What's the 'W' stand for?"
"Wumbo."
Been getting a bunch of silent crashes to desktop lately after level changes. Here is a dump of the most recent:

This should explain why you are crashing. It's a filesystem crash. Can't tell you more because I don't know what binaries you are using. Try joining the server after launching the game, without the +connect launch parameter.

Dev branch, and the crash happens after I join the server (from server list, never +connect), and then change the map. I don't believe it's ever happen on my first connect to the server.
Also, the map is loaded from a workshop addon. So I suppose that line you bolded is acceptable?
I was working on something on a vanilla server with a single addon and I get the same problem Revenge does as well as I do in his server. It's happened for as long as I can remember and it's pretty much just a silent force close while the server is changing map. I've seen a good lot of people drop out of my server before due to it as well.
If you want to catch it I'd suggest to start up a mapcycle file with some basic maps and simply let it change for a hour or so in the background. We both get it at random while dev'ing as mapchanges are very frequent because lua refresh causes far more problems than it's worth unless you're working on like entities or something.
Spawnmenu changes are all committed to Dev branch, with the respective vgui panel changes.
I urge you to test your addons that might use the DHorizontalDivider, DIconLayout, DTileLayout, DCollapsibleCategory to make sure I didn't fuck up anything.
I did test ULX, DarkRP and NutScript but I might have missed something.

Ha! Thanks for doing my work for me. I appreciate it :v:
Willox, a GMod developer, recently shared his thoughts on the CEF debate. This should clear up a few things for you all.

Yeah multicore rendering is stupid and nobody wanted it anyway, amirite?
Yeah multicore rendering is stupid and nobody wanted it anyway, amirite?
I wasn't saying multicore rendering was stupid, what i meant is he could continue it.
Still, it doesnt matter.
[editline]25th June 2016[/editline]
Also, RobotBoy, didnt you say we could connect from dev branch to live branch servers?

I think he said prerelease
Why has pre-release not been announced via Steam Announcements?

Also, will the next update include the new backgrounds? They don't seem to be in pre-release, but I can't think of any reason to delay them. They are beautiful.

It is true they are in dev but not pre-release. Pre-release hasn't been synced for a while.
Pre-release is a way for us to release minor updates, usually hotfixes, without having to release the major updates, which are on Dev, even though admiteddly, Willox did push MCore and P2P into prerelease.
The idea is to not force server owners restart and update their servers every month, so we can do changes that do not "change networking" so to speak through pre-release branch updates more frequently, and more heavier updates that do change networking stuff more rarely.

Surely pre-release is also to test big changes one or two weeks before going live?

If it's for that then why not push those changes as an optional update
If it's for that then why not push those changes as an optional update
Clients don't get optional updates
:what:
If it's for that then why not push those changes as an optional update
You can opt in at any time.
Surely pre-release is also to test big changes one or two weeks before going live?
Well, obviously. The reason it wasn't "announced" yet is because we do not have a release date yet. Last time I asked, Willox wanted to commit something but hasn't at that time.
you do realise it's a wiki, and anyone can edit it including you, right?
I thought NPC schedules were broken?
I thought NPC schedules were broken?
They should have been working since the January update when ai.GetScheduleID and ai.GetTaskID were fixed.
You do realize that I did not make Lua api and don't have source engine sources?
Well playing around with it, it seems you should be using
[lua]local sched = ai_schedule.New( string scheduleName );sched:AddTask( string taskName, int taskEnum );[/lua]
Works fine for me like that
EDIT:
actually no i'm horribly wrong
