Would you Gentlemen consider RunString/eval a shit way of going and creating dynamic helper functions? i.e. you want a table to have functions so you call AddHelpers(tbl) and it generates all of the helper functions for that table via RunString. I'm curious, in Ruby/Rails the eval method is extremely useful in that aspect.
In scripting, eval is one of those functions that has very little actual real-world purpose. Not only are there more structured/better suited ways to do most everything that you could use eval for, but eval is incredibly insecure and often times slow.
Took me the entire morning to do this [vid]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/251205348/ShareX/2016/09/2016-09-07_15-18-50.mp4[/vid] It saves messages locally, so there's no heavy load on server, you can see messages when players are offline Not big thing, but makes roleplaying and communication between 2 users a better task I'm using Whatsapp Web layout for this
Does it support multiple conversations with multiple players? [sp]My gMessage addon does[/sp] Oh yeah, I never really explained properly, but my addon does the exact same thing as this one, but with image support and emojis (and fake messages returned from bots) [editline]8th September 2016[/editline]
nope, but i internally called imessage
U WOT M8 [editline]8th September 2016[/editline] Also, the 'chats' tab would probably be better named 'conversations' or just 'messages' (iOS does this with the iPad version of iMessage)
How are you running multiple instances of Garry's Mod? I'd like to do this for gamemode testing.
sandboxie
sandboxie
the -multirun commandline argument
4:01 PM - Ducky Canard: sandboxie works tho 4:03 PM - Ducky Canard: but you need another steam account with garrysmod on it
sorry garrysmod costs an extra 2.50$

But those are for models(DB tables), so I suppose it makes more sense to use it in that situation. It's been a while since I coded in lua, so I forgot how dynamic your code can be without holding it's hand through things
Would appreciate some simple feedback (Heavy WIP and the loading screens aren't complete)
This isn't really feedback, a specific area you dislike would help
Of course it is. The menu sparkles are too much, and the lens flare effects in the background are distracting how they are. As for the GMod comment, I agree. The style that Source is done in doesn't really mix with the GTA splash art. It's like mixing TF2 assets in a CSGO map.
-snip-
It really bothers me when people take donations on assets that aren't theirs. Ignoring that point, your style is in pretty stark contrast to your , as stated on the steam group. Rather than redoing everything you have, you could try using custom screenshots that're less stylized. This offers two benefits: your gamemode now has at least one drop of originality, and users can know what to expect from the actual gameplay.

I've obviously overridden the default ui to fit the theme of my schema.
It really bothers me when people take donations on assets that aren't theirs.
I did state that the loading screenshots aren't complete, and only one of the screenshots isn't my own creation, the second blue-ish one is. The rest will be too. I used one from GTA to compare to my own. [editline]8th September 2016[/editline]
Of course it is.
Eh i dont like the look in gmod
could literally mean anything like the image is down-graded, etc. What I'm basically saying is vague feedback is as useless as stephen hawkings running shoes

I would imagine you could have done the same with a little brain power. Welcome to WAYWO, you get criticized here. Figure out how to use that rather than brush it off. What I'm basically saying is helplessness as a developer is as useless as Stevie Wonder's reading glasses.

I asked for specifics because I personally did not get what they meant. Maybe if you borrowed Stevie Wonders reading glasses you'd be able to see that clearly. What I'm basically saying is that being an asshole about it is as ineffective as Donald Trumps wall
Your hostility tells me you only asked for feedback because you're looking for confirmation of your own opinions and not because you actually want other people's opinions.
I'm hostile to people who do it first. And I've already taken note of feedback given, I'm just saying the first 2 weren't too specific for me to take note on.
Weaponsystem a la Borderlands update. - NPC's can now use the weapons. - Reload time- and magazine-stats have been fixed. (Can't speed up the reload time tho) - Now featuring 5 gun-elements with effects. - Supports custom weapons. - Lots of bugfixes. - Lost count of weapon possibilities. (Above 60.000 possibilities pr gun)
Trying to get my server as close to Gmod 12 as possible. Every little thing counts. I want to go back to the day this gamemode was around. Doing some work with the mic panels. I feel they are getting close, but they don't hit the mark. Any recommended changes?
Make the color box a bit transparent and maybe add a gray tone to it.
I can't remember the Gmod 12 ones being transparent.
No
Fair enough... although now Exho's gPhone messaging code does the exact same thing you did
Fair enough... although now Exho's gPhone messaging code does the exact same thing you did
What the same style, or the a microphone panel replacement?
What the same style, or the a microphone panel replacement?
The fact they both didn't include conversations with more than one player, and they both would've used the net library in the exact same way [sp]The easy, pain free way[/sp]
I made this.. thing.. today. -video of car thing- An idea it could be used for: simulating a police response in a bank robbery gamemode. When the alarm is pulled, a police car spawns at the police station and drives to the bank. A bunch of police NPCs spawn next to the car and try to kill the players. Thoughts?
I'm sure you already know this and are planning on changing it, but maybe try smoothing out the turning? At the very least lerp the angle. It would be cool if it had a more natural curve, but that would probably involve complex maths.
Fair enough... although now Exho's gPhone messaging code does the exact same thing you did

What the same style, or the a microphone panel replacement?

The fact they both didn't include conversations with more than one player, and they both would've used the net library in the exact same way [sp]The easy, pain free way[/sp]
I think you two are talking about different things. Satoshi thinks that MPan was discussing his mic panel, when in fact he's discussing gonzo's messaging thing.
So, I've added control docking to my UI system that basically replicates Derma's one (Derma window is for comparison): [t]http://i.imgur.com/AyUJhZk.png[/t]
"Replicates" or "is similar, but better"? Derma docking suck huge dock...
Probably the 2nd one.
Derma docking would be better if it just told you the proper size of the docked panel. And no, that one trick does not work.
