Is there a way to make it persistable?
absolutely, otherwise it would be rather tedious to keep setting materials and properties over and over again.
currently working on implementing presets for maps

I love tools like this because you can take the code and put it in basically anything that might make use of it. It's a perfect demo of a useful idea. Well done! :)

It would help if we knew what the job of the UI elements were and the purpose of the game mode so as to suggest other optional for good utility UI elements. (an RP gamemode and DM gamemode both can have very different HUD info be useful)

I'm not a fan of the, uhh, everything, the general style. But to be a bit more specific: what is the purpose of the flag on the bottom right? It looks really out of place, and why is it square? Why do you have so much empty space to the right of the health bar which still has the wooden background?
Also, if you use plain white text (top of the screen, under what I assume is an experience bar), it's going to be really hard/impossible to read if the player is looking at something bright. You should give it an outline.

AFAIK, you can only replace the complete texture by overriding the $basetexture. But there might be another way to do it.

3d2d, derma and icons does not seem like a good idea

Slowly working on this again. So far I've rewritten it to be like 1000 times less convoluted, as well as integrating Metamist's editor.

When you add a child to a parent, you should have a tick box that allows it to automatically go to position (0, 0, 0). I can see it getting tedious if I have to keep doing that for everything.

Good point, I should probably add that to my editor. I never really finished the editor so it’s petty bare bones in the current state that unrezt is using it in :)

It's rude and inappropriate but, taken as what he probably meant, he might have a point. grunewald, if you still have it, please post your code! You've probably made the same rookie mistake that 99% of us made the first time working with GUI.
