All I can think of with this theme is prop hunt :v:
Same, going back to the drawing board.
The theme for this competition is... Things are not always as they appear.
How loosely is the theme weighted? Can it just be small abilities or something, or does it have to be a major part of the core concept? I had a gamemode idea which doesn't really have that theme, but I could probably add some abilities that have to do with deception, just wondering how heavily that will influence its judging.
Oh man, I've got NO idea. Here's hoping one will pop up in the next couple of days.
May I use a function from ULib with proper attribution?

Im one of those people that knows how to do stuff but doesnt have ideas so... This... "Theme" (which i wouldnt call it like that) is sooooooo fucking big, that i have no ideas nor i think i will

Themes are good when they are vague enough to allow for creativity, but "Things are not all that they seem to be" isn't vague at all.
So I heard we need to use github to work on the gamemodes, can we make our own team or is there gonna be one huge place for them? (cause if it's the second option that's kinda too late)
I just got like 5 ideas, and i'm a gray rock at creativity
In my opinion, the themes always suck. I'm going to try and get behind it however.
I have to agree. If you look at previous themes in things such as GameJam, they use similar concepts. Your whole game mode does not have to be based around this theme, and I believe this is where you guys are getting frustrated. Implement it however you feel.
i've always found specific themes suck, such a vague one like this seems cool.
It's not terrible considering it doesn't have to be a core part of the game. However my gamemode is already, not what it seems to be. This is because I never incorporate the theme. Can this count?

Are we allowed to use pre-existing weapon bases such as CW2 or do we have to make them ourselves?
Good luck everyone! I will most likely be secretly participating on my own but i will not enter. I have faith that people here can make great things and i look forward to what everyone comes up with :)
So can I for example make a shooting gamemode with a secret easter egg room, where the door is a hidden part of the wall? that would fit the theme?
You are more than welcome to implement it like that, but when it comes to grading the gamemodes your implementation of the theme will be taken into account. So for example if you were to do something that came across as put in last second, or it was poorly implemented, then you would lose points. The theme was vague as to give everyone their own opportunity to interpret it, and how they want to create something based around it.
Was there something about github?
Was there something about github?
All entries must be public source, so GitHub is the easiest for submissions.
All entries must be public source, so GitHub is the easiest for submissions.
Do I have to push every change I make to github or can I just put it there when I have a real product?
Do I have to push every change I make to github or can I just put it there when I have a real product?
You can just put it there when you're submitting the final product.

TTT could have been made with this theme in mind. What about.. "Pretend to be an X and infiltrate a group of Xs".
"things are not always as they appear" = deception. TTT could have been made with this theme in mind. What about.. "Pretend to be an X and infiltrate a group of Xs".
Surely that's too specific and might ruin creative freedom?
It's just one interpretation of a broad theme.
Ya'll just upset you can't slap this theme on your existing gamemode ideas. The point is to come up with something new in a short amount of time. I've got mine already.
Ya'll just upset you can't slap this theme on your existing gamemode ideas.
There isn't anything you couldn't make fit that theme. Some people just lack creativity unfortunately.
Should we post progress here or in the general WAYWO?
Should we post progress here or in the general WAYWO?
You can post progress here, or there if you want to post any progress at all.
Players can press ALT at any time to switch to autopilot, where they walk around just like the rest of the NPC's. If they press ALT near a group of bystanders like in this video, they will start to follow along with the group.

It reminds me a lot of Contagion, where when you are a Zombie you can blend in with the horde to not get singled out.
