You can just put it there when you're submitting the final product.
This is stupid - if you're not developing in a git repository, why would you do so once you have a product? Just Dropbox it or something
This is stupid - if you're not developing in a git repository, why would you do so once you have a product? Just Dropbox it or something
Some people are not interested in keeping it public throughout development. GitHub was to keep it public, but if enough want to also use Dropbox that's fine. My goal is in the end to drop all entries into a public repo anyway.
Might want to update the op with the theme and other stuff.
Might want to update the op with the theme and other stuff.
I had, but I can make it more noticeable.
Can we get a list of things that will be graded?
Well, I still don't have nearly enough time to do this, but I might still try entering. I know some people are upset with the theme, but I think it's pretty good. Not a big fan of themes centered around the setting or artstyle, and there are a lot of ways you could go with this. So I'm thinking the best way to approach this is to just make a low effort DarkRP clone. :boxhide:
"things are not always as they appear" = deception. TTT could have been made with this theme in mind.
If you give any theme you can go back and pick something that fits it. There's nothing impressive or noteworthy about it.
If you give any theme you can go back and pick something that fits it. There's nothing impressive or noteworthy about it.
Aye, it all can come down to presentation. No matter the theme, it comes down to the interpretation and presentation of it
So I'm thinking the best way to approach this is to just make a low effort DarkRP clone. :boxhide:
Make it APPEAR like a low-effort DarkRP clone, but then shift into some fun original gamemode
If you give any theme you can go back and pick something that fits it. There's nothing impressive or noteworthy about it.
Settle down. The dude said that the theme is "sooooooo fucking big" that he has no ideas. I was just giving an example of a game that could have been created with this theme in mind.
Players can press ALT at any time to switch to autopilot, where they walk around just like the rest of the NPC's. If they press ALT near a group of bystanders like in this video, they will start to follow along with the group.
Assassins Creed multiplayer anyone?
Assassins Creed multiplayer anyone?
You got it! :) The gamemode is titled Assassins for now.
Code_gs is joining me and Meepen. Nice gamemode idea bobbleheadbob!
Probably not a good idea to post your gamemode progress for a competition..
Probably not a good idea to post your gamemode progress for a competition..
Should probably tell that to every game jam ever
Probably not a good idea to post your gamemode progress for a competition..
Oh no they're gonna steal my workz Gimme a break lol we're a community.
No reason not to enter, the only thing you need to do is say "this is my entry" :)
If I officially enter I'll neglect school and finals are coming up :v:
How about a Replace Awesomium contest? Garry's Mod has enough fandom gamemodes already.
Oh no they're gonna steal my workz Gimme a break lol we're a community.
A community c+p thieves and darkrp monopolies. - ayylmao page king (User was banned for this post ("Page king shit" - Novangel))
How about a Replace Awesomium contest?
This is not the place to bring this up. In other news! I just had an [edit: awesome] idea for my gamemode! :D
I just want to clarify because this is a make-or-break for me. I can derive from sandbox, right?
► No using already existing gamemodes as bases or submissions. With the exception of Sandbox, these involve such things as DarkRP, TTT, etc.
"With the exception of Sandbox"
To clarify since some people seem to be confused. * Sandbox * Base Yes, these are allowed to be derived from, since you obviously need something.
The wording is a bit confusing, I was 99% sure it was okay but wanted to get that last 1% of confidence :)
What, I can't use DarkRP as a base? All my ideas are ruined!
Welp. I'm completely stumped for ideas.. Anyone else? All I can think of is either some crazy map like in the movie Labyrinth, or visual tricks. All too advanced for me.
Could one of the judges/someone kindly compile a list of all the 3rd party code we're allowed to use? (perhaps put it in the op?)
Could one of the judges/someone kindly compile a list of all the 3rd party code we're allowed to use? (perhaps put it in the op?)
There are so many libs out there that it's unrealistic to make a comprehensive list. From what I have read, I would say that if it is a public library that is used for strictly utility function, it's okay to use. In other words, if your code is more prominent and present than someone else's.
A community c+p thieves and darkrp monopolies. - ayylmao page king
that's why you make a github so it dates when you started and if anyone else wants to actually for some reason steal your gamemode (that actually can make a gamemode, not the darkrp devs) then they'll most likely be disqualified. I don't worry much about darkrp devs cause they can't really make anything but jobs :v: Here's mine and paperlacks gm: https://github.com/SkidTeam/corrupt-combine We might have 1 more guy coming on (makes us 3 people) but most likely not. But this is where our progress will be, we'll post here and there too once we start getting visual features in to it, this is gonna be a fun competition.
