Then just post your idea in encrypted form along with the public key.
Here is the SHA256 hash of a description of my dumbass idea. 4ef5b4818f314a129f6fd205f9749928ad818c8ec5ea4bd2c04f0e992a70b8d5 Fortunately my idea is too stupid for anyone to try copying, and I'm still not sure if I'll have time to enter, but I'm really just jumping on the bandwagon at this point.
Hm, I might as well make my gamemode idea public. I'd love to hear your guy's thoughts. My game follows the internal struggles of a superior being as his persists to make valid arguments only to be bombarded with dumb ratings. These dumb ratings by his peers diminish the protagonists' power level if internalized. Fighting the ratings with his wit is the only way to survive, but of course there is a twist.
I'm sorry
Don't worry, I didn't internalize it.

Fighting the ratings with his wit is the only way to survive, but of course there is a twist, he decides to stop being negative and either stops posting or says something positive instead. I think this is a good edit.

In my defense it was either going to be this or one of like 5 linkin park songs.
I'm gonna make something that's actually fun to play. Isn't that what everyone should be doing?
lol some of you people are just too dramatic like calm down and make something fun
lol some of you people are just too dramatic like calm down and make something fun
That's now how they work, don't you see?
It's called a competition because we are competing. All the people that say they are doing it only for "a good time" are either unaware of how competitions work or are pandering. Either way, I simply pointed out the fact that the judging system was unorganized, I'm sorry for making you guys butthurt. I will attempt to keep your fragile feelings in mind next time I want to ensure the legitimacy and fairness of a competition with a $2000 prize pool. I would also like to see exactly how things will be judged, I'd prefer to see a system, where each judge has a total score, of say 50, with 1-10 points for general design, 1-10 for no errors/bugs, 1-10 for originality, 1-10 for how polished it is, 1-10 replayability. (Just as a gist, categories should be refined) (Then for the final score, just add all the judges points together for a gamemode, or average them out.) This would narrow down how its being judged which helps make the competitors feel better and know what to expect, and would help to remove any bias for or against a gamemode that a judge may have. They should also give a remark as to why they are scoring X to each category.
Entered last year, so I'm tempted to enter again this year!

There's a huge difference between asking legitimate questions, and trying to start something. The prize pool is an incentive to get people to participate, but the main goal of the competition is to bring some new gamemodes and innovation to Garry's Mod. If they had no interest in Garry's Mod, I doubt they would spend so much time developing a gamemode. You assume that the judging system was unorganized, yet I haven't shied away from answering any of your questions, nor have I been ignoring any suggestions. If you wanted changes, then you were welcome to suggest them, other than sitting and claiming they're garbage. All I can say is that I think you need to loosen up a bit.

The only people that have been antagonized are the ones that took it upon themselves to react with bias rather than look at the whole picture logically. The prize pool is a reward for winning a competition. New gamemodes and inspiration is a result of the competition. When you did respond, you responded with:
In regards to how we're going to base judging, my main goal was to have each judge rate the gamemode on a scale of 1-100. They'll post comments as well to why they scored it as such. Primarily, we're going to be looking at how the theme is incorporated into the gamemode, whether or not it has any Lua errors, and how enjoyable the gamemode is/how well it flows together.
Which even your own judge said was idiotic, as it is. I have suggested multiple times ways in which you could improve the situation, rather than accepting valid suggestions and criticism your judges and members of this community would like to to disprove facts. All I can say is that it obvious that you've gained your popularity and notoriety from developing, not holding competitions.

I don't really understand why you think you're not doing anything wrong there. I think it's also important to keep in mind that a good portion of the discussions between judges has been going on between the Discord, and seeing that the competition ends in a month, we've been taking into account peoples' feedback. I haven't personally seen any of your suggestions, as most of your posts have been flaming at other people.
All I can say is that it obvious that you've gained your popularity and notoriety from developing, not holding competitions.
This makes me not want to take you seriously, and I am trying to. There was no need to post this snarky comment. You don't know my history with hosting events.

I feel like a strict categorical system kind of insults the intellegence of the judges and the competitors TBH. There are a LOT of different things to judge a gamemode on, and I feel like scores could end up a little biased in favor of things that don't really matter if you start reducing it to categories.

A holistic approach to scoring should be used. Something like Metacritic's metascore. EDIT: If the judges want to use a rubric that's fine but they shouldn't be confined to it. If something has 60/10 fun factor but 1/10 replayability why should their whole gamemode be placed lower than something with 7 and 7?
So, after discussing it with the other judges and trying to get feedback from you guys, we have our grading guide. After a bit of confusion, and some ingenuity by Author; The judges have come to an agreement on how it should be done. We felt that, while the methods described by Parakeet and Bobble aren't horrible, they don't work out too well for something like this. We were more inclined to have a more structured grading guide to make sure everyone got fair treatment. This also makes it much easier to explain to someone why they got X overall score versus having to explain all the different ways each judge graded it. These are the categories: * Experience - How was the overall experience whilst playing? * Replay-ability - Is this a gamemode that's only fun the first few times, or will it keep people coming back? * Innovation - Was this just another TTT/DarkRP clone, or is there something about the gamemode that's never, or rarely, been done before? * Back-End - Is there an easy way to abuse gameplay? Did your gun error every time we tried to shoot? Your code doesn't need to be pretty, but it needs to work! * Theme - How well did you incorporate the theme? Is it just a little nod like a super well hidden room, or is the theme centric to the gamemode itself? Obviously if anyone has any questions, ideas, or concerns, I will gladly hear them out. We still have a month until the competition ends, so any changes can still be made.
[t]http://u.zeaga.me/qp70h.png[/t]
As you can see we're all in agreement :v:
:snip:
I noticed that presentation isn't a category. A gamemode shouldn't be judged by how pretty the derma is, so maybe this is a good thing, but maybe it should still be taken into account somehow? [editline]4th December 2016[/editline] or does presentation fall into the back-end category?

If you're making a simple HUD that's just text in the corner, and calling it done... Well, that's probably not gonna sit too well.
I posted these in discord, and haven't gotten a solid "ok" from the judges there, let's try it here. I would like to use these 3rd party bits of code: pON (https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1367349) PAC3/AnimBoneLib (https://github.com/CapsAdmin/pac3) Falco's functional library thing (https://github.com/FPtje/DarkRP/blob/master/gamemode/libraries/fn.lua) MySQLite (https://github.com/FPtje/MySQLite/blob/master/mysqlite.lua) To be honest, I'm pretty deep in already, if it turns out I can't use any of these, I'll probably have to drop out as I won't be able to write a replacement in time.
