Yeah, you have to recompile those qith a different vbsp toolset and angine version tools Vmf shares compabilities across bsp versions, but bsp versions dont
This is why we need the modified BSP version that has been talked about before. Something that can load multiple game versions at once. While I am not a coder, from what I do know, it seems this is possible.
I have to say that I'm very, very interested in this talk about seeing GMod finally support Portal 2, L4D2 and CSGO maps. They have arguably some of the best maps ever made on the Source engine and I feel we're so close to having them work properly since porting one is a matter of minutes.
Even if we get the ability to load those maps in GMod, any new .bsp features will not be present in GMod, such as new lighting, etc.
This is why we need the modified BSP version that has been talked about before.
Even if we get the ability to load those maps in GMod, any new .bsp features will not be present in GMod, such as new lighting, etc.
I really don't mind if we can't get that dynamic lighting, but what I'd love is the map itself. Seriously, that CSGO lighting isn't even that good. It's a small price to pay in comparison to being able to play the most beautiful maps ever made in Hammer.
Even if we get the ability to load those maps in GMod, any new .bsp features will not be present in GMod, such as new lighting, etc. This isn't how it works.
Then can you answer me this: What do you think is the feasibility of a system that would allow to load the newer maps while still being backwards compatible towards what we already have? How difficult would this be to do? How long would it take to implement? What do you think of the topic of increasing the capabilities of Gmod's engine version, mapping-wise?
Will game.MountGMA ever be removed or can we maybe get rid of its deprecation status? I'd like to use it in my own mounting solution.
Serverside that is.
At this point, not adding SteamAPI's web panel is ridiculous. More and more video providers are moving away from what our version of Awesomium (let alone the older HTML object in the game) supports and pretty soon media players and cinema servers will run out of available providers. We've ruled out (a recent version of) CEF because it would alienate Mac users but there's really no excuse for ISteamHTMLSurface. We know it supports every platform that Steam supports. Even for less demanding use cases, it's definitely got to be a lot faster and more efficient than what we have at present time.
We can argue about everything, we can get lots of agree and winner, but if we don't have a single word from developers, you know about what's going on, what's their opinion, it's like shouting at the wall
Next Update V7 needs to be titled "Awesonium replacement central" [editline]3rd February 2017[/editline] Seriously though unless its physically impossible I see no problem with ISteamHTMLSurface. A good example of a game that implements it is Tower Unite.
Robotboy you could at the very least provide us a response rather then make us twiddle our thumbs hoping that you saw this and care. I myself would like to be able to see the steam option implemented because no one gets screwed and better and more content can be created, I'd like to still be able to watch videos with friends on cinema.
Not sure what happened, but YouTube would seem to have stopped working with DHTML as of a couple of days ago. Still works with the HTML panel though (albeit rather badly).

Can we get a *proper* error function? Right now it is entirely shitted up. [lua] ] lua_run error("a") > error("a")... [ERROR] lua_run:1: a 1. error - [C]:-1 2. unknown - lua_run:1 ] lua_run error() > error()... [ERROR] lua_run:1: a 1. error - [C]:-1 2. unknown - lua_run:1 ] lua_run error("]meme") > error("]meme")... [ERROR] eme 1. error - [C]:-1 2. unknown - lua_run:1 [/lua]

Could we get PATCH method for HTTP?
Summary of options that haven't had a decent rebuttal or Gmod team rejection: - Keep Awesomium as is, but add ISteamHTMLSurface for developers to use. This is directly linked to the Steam Client's browser version (evidence) and would therefore always be up to date without Gmod having to update. The Gmod team could add it and then wouldn't need to worry about it again. (If this was done in Gmod 13's initial release instead of Awesomium, we wouldn't even be having this discussion) - Consider replacing Awesomium with the Awesomium developer's replacement (to be announced) - Replace Awesomium with CEF 3.2271.2019 (Chromium 41). It's not current but may work on OSX 32bit applications, and it's a lot newer than Chromium 18 / Awesomium)
Is that your signature now or something?
-snip-
I'm just twiddling my thumbs I won't post that list more than once a day (no spam), and I try to add something new to it each time. In the hope that a developer sees it. We can make web panels great again :xfiles:
I don't think posting it more is going to garner any sort of response you're looking for.
If you think they haven't seen it then your bring really optimistic, robotboy has posted here in the middle of the discussion, they know what's up and posting the same thing every day won't do anything but clog up the thread. I would rather not like to see this thread have a new post only to have it be your list on a daily basis.
I think it would help if we knew where the gmod devs stand generally. Right now I get the idea that they're fatigued, that they don't have the time and/or motivation to do bigger things. Also, Garry's involvement is currently a mystery, and all we know about that is from that one post and basically guessing.
[...]it looks like they've given up on the entire feature.
This feature aside there's little communication in general. Does anyone have any real idea what the GMod devs are doing right now? From the lack of information I'd guess they're doing very little, but for all I know they might all be working on the next version of GMod or something.
pls don't be likve volvo Any communication is better than no communication.
Given how they were asking for suggestions on a level editor, it seems they are working on gmod 2 or whatever they will be calling it.
Given how they were asking for suggestions on a level editor, it seems they are working on gmod 2 or whatever they will be calling it.
You mean Rust?
You mean Rust?
They said "Gmod like game" rust is not gmod like. If it was for rust they would straight up say rust
According to our twitter bot there is some developing activity now after about a month long silence.
There goes our hope. https://github.com/Facepunch/garrysmod-requests/issues/791#issuecomment-277773874
