So, the only arguments I've heard today to support spoofing the player count is as follows:
"blame the gmod devs not the ones abusing the exploit"
"others are doing it so i can also do it why are you blaming me!!"
"wow ur just jealous we get more players than u!!"
"why are you only targeting us and not the >>2<< other servers also doing this!!"
Now, all these reasons are fucking idiotic and if anyone has any good arguments to actually support their actions (exploiting a vulnerability to gain popularity and more players/earn more money) that doesn't go against any of the arguments that were just listed then please do share them, as I'd love to hear what kind of bullshit someone can spit up at this point.

It's a sad thing to see Garry's Mod turned into this.
A good community with a great playerbase is not created with redirect servers but with [I]good[/I] content.
Redirect servers definitely shouldn't be allowed. Why else have a [ping] column in a server browser if servers will spoof it anyway?

Im just going to put my two cents in, it's unfair that they can be at the top if another server provides the exact same experience and that server is closer to the player.

Nobody here has a problem with Superior being popular, I think. I know I don't, and I hate their server.
Everyone has a problem with them spoofing playercounts on an objectively fake server to dupe the Australian playerbase, and so far we haven't had an 'official' response from the staff about what the action plan is to get it handled. That's my impression of what most people here are pissed about.
Alright so I will blacklist their duplicate server IPs right now.
If I will see any attempts to bypass the blacklist, I will ban your real server's IP and host name.
This includes everyone. Not just SUP and the other 2.
This brings me no joy, but it seems that people fail to understand that this is not OK.
Consider this your last warning.
To anyone saying I should just ban their real servers right now, while I definitely do agree that this behavior is unacceptable, [b]I also don't want to hurt real players of those servers/this game[/b].

Really though, been following this on and off all day and took them down when you said your warning. Didn't know if it was serious or not but figured it wasn't worth it.

Redirect servers are legit considering the bullshit region restrictions and TEAM_GARRY's lack of setting up own master servers to fix it or even getting Valve to opt gmod out of it. Just another in a long line of poor decision making at TEAM_GARRY HQ.

If they somehow get around even your second ban, I would make the normal server browser require VAC. It would seem they can't enable it on redirect servers.

I'm going to be dead honest here. In StonedPenguins case, his main server SHOULD be banned right now. This isn't the first time he's been warned. It isn't the second time. Hell it isn't even the third time. He's been given chance after chance after chance, and each time its either been a slap on the wrist or absolutely no repercussion, followed closely by him disregarding what he's been told/what he's told us and doing it again!
What's to stop him doing this all over again in 3 months and pretending like it isn't a crime?

1. TEAM_GARRY is more like TEAM_ROBOTBOY
2. Issues regarding GEO-IP were fixed in october 2016.
3. Redirect servers are NEVER legit, ESPECIALLY when you are taking players from literally across the globe. (At this distance, where the player would have upwards of 250ms latency, there would be nothing but disadvantages and region locking would be completely justified. In situations where the latency is between 50-100ms, I cant understand hiding the server.)
4. I don't know how else to describe your issue about insane lag at 40 players, other than extremely exaggerated. Even the least optimized server I've gone onto, on my shitty pc, managed to hold an average 30fps. Your FPS will start to drop when files start trying to be referred to that aren't on your computer (such as when you refuse to download any content).

It isn't a crime, actually. Believe it or not, there's no law in any country on this planet that outlaw mirror servers for a video game. Robotboy made his intentions and warnings clear this time around, so there should be no confusion going forward in the future.
