It isn't a crime, actually. Believe it or not, there's no law in any country on this planet that outlaw mirror servers for a video game. Robotboy made his intentions and warnings clear this time around, so there should be no confusion going forward in the future.
When I used the term crime, I didn't mean it that literally. When I said "pretending like it isn't a crime", if you wish to take it 100% literally, read it as "pretending like he did nothing wrong"
I'm going to be dead honest here. In StonedPenguins case, his main server SHOULD be banned right now. This isn't the first time he's been warned. It isn't the second time. Hell it isn't even the third time. He's been given chance after chance after chance, and each time its either been a slap on the wrist or absolutely no repercussion, followed closely by him disregarding what he's been told/what he's told us and doing it again!
What's to stop him doing this all over again in 3 months and pretending like it isn't a crime?
EDIT: *pretending like he did nothing wrong?* because apparently I have to be taken so literally that a minor figure of speech cannot be interpreted in it's context by the reader.
He might be stupid enough to do it again in three months, but he'd have to take stupidity to a next level to think people wouldn't notice it this time.

At least some action is taken. Now this shit discussion can stop, yes?
A bit late response but for me these "communities" shouldn't be called that anymore. They are full grown businesses who want to be number 1 and get the most money they can. This makes it much harder for people that want to start a server since they need to compete as an individual against companies who have access to much more things.

The fact that servers have the ability to make money doesn't mean they can't be all about their community as well. There's no unseen advantage in that. An individual can create just as much content as we do. After all we're just individuals too.
Alright so I will blacklist their duplicate server IPs right now.
If I will see any attempts to bypass the blacklist, I will ban your real server's IP and host name.
This includes everyone. Not just SUP and the other 2.
This brings me no joy, but it seems that people fail to understand that this is not OK.
Consider this your last warning.
To anyone saying I should just ban their real servers right now, while I definitely do agree that this behavior is unacceptable, I also don't want to hurt real players of those servers/this game.
Hopefully after this stoned will get rid of the redirect servers.

You get your advantage from using misleading redirects. When you do that, you become a conglomerate, not an individual.
I wish too hard if you just could rate late and dumb at the same time...
Would it be possible to port the fixes from the nu-browser to the legacy browser as well regarding geo-ip? I know many players use it, especially because it's the only way to currently add a favourite server :v:
especially because it's the only way to currently add a favourite server :v:
We really need a way to add servers to our favourites and browse them without using the legacy browser.

So why not both!
There's still a mirror server of UrbanGamers showing up that seems to have a geolocation restriction 45.32.194.135

Ok, so news for the next update.
http://wiki.garrysmod.com/changelist/prerelease/
These are the changes that will be going into the next update so far.
Now for the date. Currently we are thinking about 17th of April.
Reasoning behind this is that first of all, there are a lot of changes this time around, unintentionally. Secondly there's a 2 week break coming soon and we wouldn't want to release a big update that has potential to break ( hopefully not ) things while people are on their holidays.

Sorry, main server was off all day yesterday and I forgot to even touch the redirects, they are all off now.
What is the intended purpose of the new global state stuff?
Also, this would be a swell addition to the update :)

Read the linked pages on that pages, and pages linked on those linked pages.
[sp]:v:[/sp]
As for that, there will be no more PRs accepted into the next update.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but could anyone tell me why I keep seeing my NPC's do these animations?

Same as env_global except you can read the states not just set them.
Oh, it's really weird how it doesn't report the player list. Removed your IP. Sorry about that.
No servers with more than around 64 players report the player list. I'm assuming it's something silly like split packet replies not being handled correctly.
I've also noticed that the steam query window doesn't support more than 128 players anyways and will always say "Server is not responding." Just check out Rust servers if you want to see this.

Mine almost never correctly reports the player list anyway, so I just firewalled A2S_PLAYER. It's not like I care about my gametracker ranking.
please dont mistake it for a proxy server, ive never done that
Also for the people suggesting to block "connect" console command, note that you can also trigger a redirect by popping up a webpage with a steam:// auto-redirect

Guys, there's only one way to truly fix the proxy server problem.
We must delete Steam

delete darkrp
I really wish A2S_INFO would work on servers with more than 64 players... but this is a Valve problem.
Edit: oshit pageking
delete awesomium
Whelp, time to paste this again.
Some options could be:
* Add Coherent UI. If Facepunch already has a subscription it could be a reduced cost or free (see "I have several projects in development" here)
* Find out if it is possible for ISteamHTMLSurface to isolate Gmod's session from Steam/overlay's session. If not, could Valve add it? Garry/Facepunch must have contacts they could ask at Valve.
* Wait for the Awesomium creator's new project (a replacement for Awesomium) to be released. (see this tweet). The developer works on classic Valve Time though so may never happen.
* Use CEF 3.2271.2019 (Chromium 41) as a replacement for Awesomium. As far as I can see, this version will work for OSX users (due to it being compatible with 32bit processes). It's not the latest version but it's a lot newer than Chromium 18 / Awesomium (and should have improved performance), and would buy us some time for a better replacement in a couple years.
I thought this was a game about physics. What's everyone's obsession over loading webpages ingame?
[editline]26th March 2017[/editline]
Ability to load models/textures from raw data would be way better

Saying that GMod is a physics game is SOOO 2008 :smug:.
It's a shame we can only have one feature in the game at a time.
I'm not saying it's not a priority, I'm saying imo it's not a high priority. I'd rather development that gets done go toward gameplay things.

Entire gamemodes and features rely on web integration. For how long it has been pushed off, I would say it should be one of the highest priorities at this point in time.
