I'm pretty sure now it can be done if the light_environment has a targetname (bypass the internal VBSP restrictions so coders can actually, you know, target it). AFAIK this didn't use to happen years ago, but 2.5 years later and still nada.
I'm no programmer so forgive me, but I'm pretty sure I've isolated it to GMod rather than VRAD. Beyond that I've no idea how to do further testing. I'd be happy to submit this to the Git if preferable. Ta.

aStonedPenguin has once again setup redirect servers in the Asia Pacific region, specifically NSW Australia. These are once again unlabeled, and once again automatically redirect the player without warning or prompt. To prove it, I had to pull out a secret alt account, as Stoned had banned all my other accounts for "Malicious Activity" (if blowing the whistle on your actions that have actively been prohibited by developers more than once is malicious, then I guess I'm guilty as charged.)
What I find most ironic is that this has occurred less than a week after his old servers were blacklisted by Robotboy, and after he specifically said (on page 33 of this thread, less than 2 weeks ago)...

aStonedPenguin is currently banned from Facepunch for matters unrelated to this, and will continue to be banned for a few more weeks. I'm unsure about his friend KingOfBeasts, however at this point there isn't a single thing they can say to defend their actions. Their servers operate on new IP addresses, which proves that this is a [U]very deliberate attempt to bypass the blacklist[/U].

Nah, I doublechecked OBS settings, I was using my livestream settings, which are designed for 320p (so my shitty 1mbps upload speed doesn't choke and die), even though I thought I switched to my recording settings.

But in addition to that, there's the fact that the last time someone impersonated his servers, he kicked up such a stink that it could have dwarfed the closure of leakforums. IIRC The Commander had changed his Underdone RPG servers to look like a SUP server, and we didn't hear the end of it from Stoned and King

The thing is, if it's not asp it's up to him to issue a C&D to the operator for ICANN fraud. It's his IP/Company/Branding, it's his responsibility to ensure its administration is done correctly

Yeah, I'm not disagreeing about them being his. The ban thing I have no idea about, but it's very simple and cheap to make a fake redirect server from a $3/m VPS.
Other than it making stoned look bad, it benefits him as much as a redirect server he owns would, why would he complain?

Well, I've tried that GitHub thing someone posted here, tried to spoof my local server to see what's going on, but seems like it didn't work on server list, ALTHOUGH it worked for steam server browser
What do I mean, anyone HERE that were part of this conversation , warnings, etc, and were against sup, had a working version of spoofing just like astoned pinguin has?

Just editing the A2S_INFO isn't going to work on the masterlist. The reason it works on the steam browser is because it only relies on A2S_INFO. I'm not going to release any info on it however as I can see it just creating a shit storm.
I was just talking to Commander about this, and I personally think that this is getting to the point where linking servers to a steam account might actually be something worth considering.
Granted, this is currently still a fringe case. 1 community, out of tens of thousands, abusing their resources to do something they shouldn't be doing. However should the problem become more widespread, linking servers to steam accounts and banning either [U]steam accounts that haven't been verified/secured with steam guard/linked a mobile and don't own gmod[/U] or just generally abusive servers and their assigned accounts, would be a quite effective solution.
Granted, someone with the money could easily buy a phone and SIM card, register a throwaway phone number, buy gmod on a new account, and assign their servers to that account. But its just something I was thinking about, and thought I'd share.
So long as there isn't an arbitrary cap on how many servers can be associated? Not a bad idea. I think there's already functionality for it in SRCDS, garry's mod servers just use an anonymous gameserver ID.
Then again, 10 bucks nets you a smurf steam account with gmod, so it's as easy to bypass as buying another VPS

True. However I thought when you get banned in that way from hosting SRCDS instances, the phone number associated with the account get's marked with the ban, thus any other accounts that use that phone number get banned too.
But yes, there shouldn't be any such cap on how many servers you can host, only have it be used as a way of identifying a person who is hosting a server maliciously.
Offtopic but I'm off to bed, someone PM me when and if Stoned or one of his friends comes by to call us all names and hurt our feelings.

"Players are never reconnected" is a blatant lie proven to be so by my videos, that show me connect to a server, then instantly be reconnected to another server. And at the end of the day, no matter how you do it, you are still redirecting the player to somewhere that isn't where they elected to connect.
The best analogy I can come up with is: You flag down a taxi to take you to a nearby pizza shop. But instead of going to the nearest pizza shop (like you asked), he takes you to his preferred one 6 towns over. Nevermind that you have a coupon for the local one and not this one, or that you have friends waiting for you at the nearby one, he takes you to his one, knowing full well that will cost you more in taxi fares.
Using this analogy, KingofBeast is essentially saying that it's ok for the taxi driver to drive an extra 10km, as they are both the same pizza chain, they both make the same pizzas fresh and there's no difference by having it at a different location. He ignores the time it takes to get there, the cost to travel that distance, and the fact that you expect to speak to people you'd recognize there instead of complete strangers. SUP and it's devs (plus cult following) do not see the impact made by making the player play with people who have vastly different pings, have vastly different social backgrounds and moral standpoints, are entirely different nationalities, exist in completely different timezones, etc. Or they choose to ignore this impact.
But ultimately, we find ourselves again facing the unbreakable facts: Robotboy said (paraphrased) "stop or else I'll blacklist your main server." and here we have SUP disregarding that entirely and bypassing the blacklists. They may think they are clever by renaming it. But at the end of the day, they keep doing what they've said themselves to be nothing but malicious, and they've done it with no regard for what the greater community thinks, including the developers themselves.
There is [B]NO[/B] justification you can give for your actions KingofBeast and StonedPenguin.
