So it's about time to try out the 64-bit builds. I hit some road-bumps on the macOS stuff, so the only builds available for now are clients for: Windows 32-bit, Windows 64-bit, Linux 64-bit. To try it out you need to enter the exclusive code 'z8MvH7F6OW3HExir' and select the 'x86-64' branch in Steam's beta branch selection. When you launch the game, you've got to select either 32-bit or 64-bit because the default option won't work. https://files.facepunch.com/willox/2018-07-23/b3GxXdbv.png It's a little bit outdated compared to the dev branch. I'm mostly interested in hearing about any issues people run in to that specifically don't already happen in GMod. I'm aware that AI is pretty fucked.

I just tested the 64 bit build and well it doesn't fall apart on start up, which is great. It seems to run quite well. It also seems to load much faster to main menu than the main version. One issue that I have found is: Entity:EmitSound() and sounds played from model animations are silent when they are using sound scripts. As I have developed a binary module, I tested it as well just out of curiosity. And well, binary modules are of course broken as they need to recompiled with the new headers and as 64 bit. It would be nice to get some x64 build informations/headers when the build goes live.
You can try using these headers (note the branch) GitHub. It's only got the Windows stuff in there. Just name the binaries what you normally would but with _win64.dll at the end.
An issue/maybe not an issue that I noticed: CSoundEmitterSystemBase::GetParametersForSound:  No such sound 'sound name here' shows in console after a sound from a script is not found and wants to be played. This happens on both 32 and 64 bit build, but not on the Dev branch or the regular branch. Also looks like custom type ContentIcons are fucked (they work fine on Dev and Regular, but seem not to on the 64 bit branch)
What about Source Dedicated Server? Any way to launch that in 64-bit mode yet?
Yeah, there wasn't a voice codec on the branch. I added one today. Was hoping to do SRCDS today, but I guess that can be tomorrow instead now.
Speaking of voice codecs, any chance we could get opus? I believe it's what CS:GO uses. My apologies if it's already been brought up before. :v Opus Codec

If 64-bit comes out, then we have already achieved the impossible. That means custom or updated shaders isn't just a pie in the sky either, right? ...right?
Custom shaders will not make all existing content look better. In order for a game to look better, the content needs to be re authored to take advantage of any shader changes.
I don't care about existing content, and I don't think I'm an asshole for that either. I'd like to make my own content for my own gamemodes, and others can do the same. People can (and probably will) update the maps that exist in the game and rerelease them on the workshop.
I can use parallax in my addon and gamemodes as well. I'll def use it.
We should start a list of graphical enhancements, shaders and what not that people want (while still possible within the set limitations). Starting with parallax.
I want render.ReadPixel to work correctly with all types of render targets (IMAGE_FORMAT Enumerations), does that count as graphical enhancement?

This spams the console when the developer ConVar set to 1 while using Voice Chat on 64-bit now: VoiceEncoder_Opus::Decompress failed (-1)
Was the bitrate changed with the introduction of opus? Voice sounds slightly different but not CS:GO or discord quality.
I will literally pay you to expose $includemodel to lua and implement parallax with lua exposure too.

Most of my hours are just me forgetting to exit out of Garry's Mod before going to school or bed
