We still can't create clientside entities. Is this ever going to work? this is such an important feature...
What's wrong with it? ents.CreateClientProp, ClientsideModel?
I am certainly not talking about props or some clientside models. I am talking about full fledged clientside entities.
What do you exactly need
Clientside SENTs would be a good start.
What are the boundaries about creating a library purely by lua that mimics an entity in serverside with just a table for point_entities, ClientSideModel/ents.CreateClientSideProp for anim entities This is purely a gimmick and i've asked for gimmicks in the past and got a lot of "You can already do that with lua if..."
SENT hooks are not called on engine clientside entities, so you can't receive animation events or override default physics and collision behaviour.
Take a look at my "module", as it gives basic functionality about creating sents in cs realm, it's true, there are lots of stuff missing or really engine specific, but it's not like you can keep detouring and detouring until you find the right spot about what do you really want I've been developing for gmod during almost 6 years...If you can't do something, you're thinking it incorrectly or the amount of work required to perform that task is purely bs
That solves none of the problems I listed above, and your module draws the entities incorrectly since you are rendering them after all opaque and translucent geometry. There comes a point where doing something purely in Lua becomes too inefficient or impractical, and this would be a case, especially since there's already a system in the engine for purely clientside entities.
Oh my god, I've just told you this a pseudo code and that if you keep doing and adapting this piece of code into what do you think is perfect... As my profile picture you'll get what do you want and cover your needings, maybe not as the most practical thing that you can think, but hey, the most crazy ideas allows you to break any boundary inside Garry's Mod!

yeah but i want to force my players to use it i don't really understand why we just don't create a temp "DHTMLChromium",and don't say me "cause when chromium is pushed by default we have an alias" cause we have ply:Username,ply:Nick and ply:GetName

This will need to happen if they can't enable flash or video APIs in chromium. For fucks sake, just add PPAPI flash to the chromium branch @Willox

5 weeks, 3 days. Although there have been a couple of commits on the Chromium branch since last week, which is good because it's some progress, the core issues have still yet to be addressed.

Willox responded to my email from a few weeks ago and told me that PPAPI flash is back! It's on the chromium branch right now. Say what you want about flash, but cutting support for it would be a regression, especially without the HTML5 codecs to replace it. It would be great to have those too, but with this change we can start getting people to switch to the chromium branch. Thanks!
I'm wondering if there is any information on how to switch to that branch? I'm currently making a DHTML based VGUI framework and would like to test it out. Also will players be able to join a chromium branch server or vice versa?
Right click the game in your steam library, the option is there somewhere. And yes, servers/clients are compatible with each other

It'd be nice to just get it on main, but I understand that they may wish to leave it in "beta" for a while. I can just get people to switch branch. BTW, one of my users had chromium not work for him at all. He couldn't see loading screens or anything. The problem was that his steamapps folder was a directly junction, upon undoing that it worked. No real idea why here.
some server kick you if you are on Chromium branch cause lua files differs from main branch default i don't really get why we just don't create a "DHTMLChromium"
I don't really want to sound like a piece of shit, but are we really expecting someone to exploit a vulnerability from awesomium so we just move on?
Even then, they would just fix it and still don't switch to chromium. Atleast willox is again working on it. So we maybe can expect an update with chromium in the future.
