Support leakers/cheaters that actively work against something like gmodstore by stealing money from content creators, just to stir up drama and get attention for your website. Insult the people that might move from gmodstore to crident by endorsing leakers, I'm no business major but I don't think insulting your competitors users will make them want to transition to your site at all. Give up trying to hide anything and ultimately just saying you're trying to bleed as much money as you can from a dying game with a tight-knit community, at the expense of the people who are supporting it. Go total damage control and backpedal on all of it in a pathetically desperate attempt to save your reputation. Now that's some 8000IQ marketing.
We never endorsed leakers, that's part of the misrepresentation coming from gmodstore. You wont find a single point we've endorsed leakers ourselves. A site we endoresed was running a leak site - which became a bigger part of their brand during the period we had the banner on our site. Due to their affiliation with a leak site, we've removed the banner. I don't say this to make an excuse though, because I totally think we could have handled the situation better - and I don't deny that there are legitimate concerns & issues around the entire situation. I plan to make a longer-form post later today, for those interested. I'll go through our intention, what went wrong, how we're responsible & how we're going to try & work to make things better. I understand some might not be interested in things getting better. But all I can do is move forward, and try to improve. We've always said we understand the concerns about the leak site, even if it might not have been apparent in this thread. We probably should have acted quicker when the leak site became a larger part of the site we were backlinking.
Even if you didn't know that Citizenhack was running a leak site, you supported a community that doesn't give a single shit about Garry's Mod or the content creators in it, how could you not imagine something was going to go wrong. not to mention this is literally on the front page of Citizenhack's website https://4st.me/2JdeS.png I also have never been on the gmodstore forums in my life, you seem pretty quick to play victim and blame it on the big guy. You yourself said you stir up drama for personal gain, the more toxic drama you can flood the gmodstore forums with, the more publicity, right? I guess I can understand giving cheaters/leakers/whatever a special discount to deter them from leaking stuff from your website. But I can't help but feel like your intention was just to stir up drama for publicity. You already admitted your intention was to make money and that you're a "business man". You legitimately don't care about this community and you just want to make a quick buck.
That hasn't been there long, and that's what I mean when I say "which became a bigger part of their brand during the period we had the banner on our site". I don't know where you got this from, but that never happened. The rest of your statement makes some fair points. I'm not just brushing them off, but I don't know if now is the best time for me to respond.
I don't know where you got this from, but that never happened. Sorry I worded that very wrong, what I meant was that one of the only reasons I can think of for giving cheaters a discount on a site targeted by leakers is to try and reduce the amount of leaks. Since they'd get addons cheaper than regular users. But from the looks of this thread you just did it for attention.
Oh I see. Once it was bought to our attention that there was concern around the leak site, this was an idea we had - and we threw around some ideas, but nothing came to fruition. Initially the leak thing wasn't even on the table for us.
He literally said that he didn't endorse the leaking site, now you're bringing back up? Linking codefodder and citizenhack is totally irrelevant. You can't automatically assume that he endorses the leaking sector, just because he has links with citizenhack.
While the part about endorsing a people who cheat who also happen to leak is not directly equivalent to endorsing leaking, he was made aware on day one from my screenshots (at least 2 days before this thread was made) that the group also did leaking.
It's the same people. Endorsing them at all is a symbol of support for what they do. Besides, why are you acting like it's not a bad thing that a hack was endorsed in the first place? The leak site they also run was the icing on the cake, the situation was already very not good. Drizzy made a blog post on Crident's page about it, so at least he's owned up.
the blog post seemed somewhat heart-felt, but I couldn't help but chuckle at gorilla-outrage marketing techniques In my opinion, time is the only thing that will regain my trust in Crident. If they can actually show that they want to help the GMod community and not just scalp money off of it, I'd be perfectly fine with them. But that'll take time. I mean if you think about it, the "gorilla-outrage marketing techniques" worked lmao
While everybody deserves a chance for redemption, I'm quite skeptical as I should be. I wouldn't put my money on one of their many schemes blowing up in their face suddenly changing their entire business strategy, marketing style and overall overview on how they operate. Only time will tell if he truly changed for the better. We will see I suppose.
To be honest I never had any luck with Gmodstore and personally I would prefer a better alternative. Gmod store is all about... Well... DarkRP store as the major sells are made for the DarkRP server owners and nobody ... I mean nobody in Gmodstore cares that you addon is well coded, they will only bother with it when it is DarkRP related and other than that if it's not, will get rejected because it is too "SPECIFIC". If that was the case why don't they call it DarkRP store for change. It will better suited for its majorly-accepted internal content there. What I hate about Gmodstore is that it is consumer-based lacking of innovation. Sure they sell a lot of content, but is it worth to pay for weapon pack and DarkRP modes only ... I mean why they do not sell different addons for change. Who cares if they are too "SPECIFIC" and not DarkRP related ! I will always support another site that it is NOT DarkRP to the bone. So good job with that ;)
We sell things for darkrp, because most of the servers that make money are darkrp.
Well one thing I can tell you is that we don't have plans to deny scripts that are too specific in Crident Store. We plan to let the market decide what they want to buy
Sir, you just got your self a new watso watso Telling me that my addon is just "hoverballs" alternative is very wrong. If you had some time to look at it ( and I can guarantee you had ), you must have seen the vast customizable amount of control theory I've put in there, so comparing my addon to the hoverballs is like saying that a space shuttle is a paper plane. And I can ague about that all day If I must. Don't get me wrong, but the control theory is kind of a big deal when you want to do "magic". And yes it will look like magic for someone who is not familiar with that and have only seen the end result of the control loop. Here is one exaple if you are not sure what I am talking about. This is just my thesis, but there are other videos like that in youtube ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y9tdiITTCE
Wait...why is my script now on codefodder???!?!?!
Em I do not run any of these sites. I do not know
"Muh quality control" When your users are too autistic to decide what they want themselves
