Snow looks awesome man!
soft lamps
короче, берешь сначала землю от КРЕЙЗИ КНАЙФА, потом берешь снег из бф (где-то был тред релизов), комбинируешь это и спамишь спамишь спамишь пока не будет выглядеть заебис
Really? Do you have mat_fullbright still on or something, because, look I get you're trying to make an overcast or foggy pic where the sunlight doesn't really come through but try not to make it too flat like that, otherwise the lighting just looks awkward in my opinion.
nah i just suck at lighting
Well here's a few tips: If you're doing sunlight, have your lamp be particularly close to the props, lower the FOV and up the brightness of the lamp In the console, type 'r_projectedtexture_filter 0' or if that messes up your shadows, then instead of 0 put 0.1 or the such, this will sharpen your shadows, but it will pixelate them, don't put them too close to the camera. Use another lamp or a light entity for the colour of your shadows, if you're using a lamp then have it be facing the same way of the camera, or your sun lamp, either one should work, and if you're using a light entity, don't put it too close to the props in your scene, it cancels out the light from your soft lamp. You might also have to put multiple lamps in your scene to achieve the effect you imagine, 3 - 5 lamps for a relatively small scene, maybe 5 - 7 lamps for a large scene, never be too afraid to experiment with lighting and leave your comfort zone with it, doing so can really help with improving lighting in your scenes. Here's my advice: Go in GM_Black, build a quick scene and go crazy with lighting, just mess with it as much as you can, I did this, and it really helped get me out of my previous stage with lighting. Obviously there's a lot more to lighting than the lamps, but for now, just worry about that.
I wanted to quickly show my first ever scenebuild, as in my personal opinion, it turned out really well for a starter scene: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/183687/c6df46bd-a390-4daa-bf45-9fa215778d08/deserted___ran_away_by_blightbite-dc59wga.jpeg Tell me what you guys think of it.

Hello, I hope someone remembers me here https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/932686374712065022/1A2FFDF4BB388399FA0D6C874C9136465019722B/
Here's a few quick tests for my next planned scene https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/183687/4dd0654e-9660-4d1f-9423-c5b2121ab91e/gm_black0004.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/183687/9a467d55-43be-4414-a531-a323f54154df/gm_black0006.jpg

Too much fish eye effect. Zoom in and step away with the camera. Colors are good though. Check out Vioxtar's pic for a good reference of how to do this better : https://www.deviantart.com/vioxtar/art/Out-of-Map-Bounds-607771630
I mean that was my first ever scene, back then I had no clue of the fish eye effect problem.
Here's a test on flamethrower/fire effects in GMod scenes, planning to do something with Gmod Thrusters: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/183687/5f9fcf73-b848-4014-bdf1-188e4950878c/a_flamethrowertest.jpg If there's anything you think I can improve on the formation of the fire tell me, would love to improve on this
so is that a particle, photoshopped or what? the shadow is a nice touch
Entirely photoshopped, shadow of course included.
dont forget the light coming out of the fire, the shadow (created from the sun or your primary light) should leave room for the fire's own light (dimmer and not as intense as the sun, but it should still fill the shadow a bit) https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/710/9472e735-ccbd-4dcf-9fc1-d21d83c89775/image.png The flame patterns should also be smaller and the overall fire spit should be divided into two parts (clearly visible in the pic), the part where the burning fuel still has momentum and is essentially a growing jet of fire going sideways, and the part where all the fuel is mostly burnt and now all thats left is a big fire ball, which leaves behind a good bunch of smoke and darker, redder fire going upwards
Seeing as how the fire and the shadow is photoshopped, I'm trying to figure out how to properly integrate the lighting from the fire itself, bit hard though because it always ends up looking artificial, so I ended up scrapping it. But aside from that, thanks for the help, gonna try to improve on it.

I really wish more original Deus Ex stuff was ported to Garry's Mod.

Here's one more that I found in my Imgur albums that I liked, it's also old but I remember I felt pretty good with it when I finished it. If everything goes well, I should be able to get my PC back on December https://i.imgur.com/I2OnnNY.jpg
