That lighting is fairly impressive, however, couple problems with the image, there is some slight pixelation in the shadows, make sure to use the 'poster' command and when using Photoshop downscale the image to the size you want. The other thing is, when you're using assets for the ground, try to downscale the texture if the low resolution is too noticeable, basically, that concrete looks really stretched, and too blurry for what you want to go for, try downscaling the texture with the Material Creator, and maybe put some small concrete props like tiny rubble on it, to give it more depth.
i don't use gmod and true besides this was just intended as a stanky test pose, can't be fucked editing the shadows to look good lmao

The car is floating above the ground, and so are a lot of things, like that metal sheet on the left, those two gas cans in the middle, the sandbags seem to be defying physics, that guy on the left seems to be floating, and there is probably more. But aside from those problems, I really enjoy looking at those buildings, and the lighting complements the scene in my opinion.
sadly it was literally me putting this in 10 min and practicing the lighting.

https://i.imgur.com/EwU1Vwk.jpg I thought I could use a new background, so I slapped this together in an hour while listening to a podcast.

What are those foliage props? they look incredible.
Thats some nice ass terrain my dude.
That looks more like stone then dirty snow. I mean, looking at pictures of the real thing, there's often some white snow on the sides, showing the contrast between the muddy stuff and the untouched snow. Maybe try implementing some clean snow to show what it's supposed to be?
Here's a couple quick material blending techniques I tried out a while ago https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/183687/cc372e02-6ee2-4b25-8afc-be67509338ca/gm_black0304.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/183687/e9eb59e7-aa9c-4b2e-bde0-115bd7ada382/gm_black0328.jpg
i would suggest maybe using the color tool on the bricks to make them blend in a little better, their recesses should be a little paler if they're dusted with ice and snow for example: http://www.bowsandsequins.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/downtown-aspen-snow-cobblestone.png conversely it works really well on the sandy one because they're already the right color.
There's even easier, he can place one of the snow props between the bricks, those aren't 2D planes so it's guaranteed to look great.
CODWW2 pack and this pack aswell I think: Stuff 2

This is more amazing than 99% of the war poses out there.
Thanks. I've been consulting an actual artist for guidance and I've improved a lot over the last months.
The key here is that despite the scene being simple, it has some absolutely intense emotion to it. There's panic, desperation, fear, anger, almost the full spectrum of negative moods all over the shot. I'll need to try to do something like this
Was originally going to be a simple test of the 'Cradle' mount I made but it quickly got out of hand which is why the lighting is lacking (But when ISN'T it lacking in my scenebuilds?) Decided I'd post it because its still one of my favourite pieces I've made. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/111631/ee98e2c3-9213-4c20-9730-239aaee2d494/20181124174300_1.jpg
