Why? This is really good and promising. Tell me what material texture you used btw, also what's the ground? I really like this stuff and would love to make something with that terrain.

That's sad to hear. Since your scenes are always very real life looking with superb lighting and colours.

So I got tired of my poses not being the best, so I took my time with this one and followed Vioxtar's guide To the T. It's not good since this is the first I cranked out so I need yalls criticism, thank you. https://i.ibb.co/sQYCXBd/canadians.jpg
what happened to the forum? haven't been here in like 5 years everything has changed. and apparently my old account is gonzo?
Garry nuked the forums and then loads of people left
You should be able to apply your Z-Depths through using the "Screen" blending mode, and if it isn't quite as noticeable as you want you can just duplicate the layer, if that's not a fix could you detail what was happening when trying to apply them.
If I'm not too insufferable to listen to (and you can handle the unscriptedness) go ahead and check out the video tutorials I made. They're more up to date with how things are done nowadays and goes over some details that it looks like you've overlooked (The sky in your zdepth needs to be white instead of black and generally you only really need one or two) plus its got an updated link to the set of tools Viox and Neatnit made for scenebuilding. It's not that Vioxs is bad (they're far far from it) but it can be alot more difficult to follow (and it don't have that sweet sweet lightbounce magic)
Done did another test, going to start practicing on smaller builds before trying to tackle wider and larger shots. So I went easy and did a quick one with a Tarkov character. https://i.ibb.co/7nK1b3k/Labs.jpg

You're shadows look off, set you're settings something similar to the following picture in the HeavyLight category: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/183687/5db504d6-a18e-4227-a487-0ad4a62319ac/image.png (While I'm not certain whether or not those are the best settings you can use, they seem to work for me, also you'll want to tweak them depending on what kind of light source you want to be producing these shadows, I generally follow those for the sun, but if it's a projector light, you may want to set the Surface Radius to something much smaller, more like 5 or so.) Only change the Surface Shape Resolution in the Gameplay category just underneath if you want to see a simple version of what you're shadows will look like when rendered, it looks like that's what you're doing already, except you are rendering it, don't render anything using that Gameplay category, just forget unless you want a cheap representation of you're final shadows. Once you're happy with you're settings, then render a poster using "poster_soft #", change # to whatever.
Thanks man! ive only started to take gmod art seriously and recently discovered soft lamps, i'll be sure to try those settings bud, thank you for your help!
