Ding ding, revengeance is the proper term, the last monstrosity needed to be redeemed.

Some day ago I was annoyed by the fact how coding a user interface for EGP is just darn repetitive and painful (in conclusion), friend and I were on a server watching another guy fighting with coding EGP so hard... especially, if working on more complicated GUI.
Yesterday, I had enough of motivation to do something about it. And I constructed an idea for creating the designer for it. VS2019 was just released some day ago (shout out to VS2019).
What I decided to do is to reuse Visual Studio designer, and generate E2 code on the output...
It is pretty much alpha version, but, it works pretty much enough (for now).

I have a few more features on todo list, top two of them being:
Realtime sync visual studio designer with serverside E2 chip (while playing on any wire server).
Animations ( frames ) support
Now enjoying to create EGP user interfaces in a matter of seconds!

Apparently my old account was eaten so here i am again.
Have a 7.5 ton scout mech running my own E2s . Currently armed with a short 75mm as a placeholder, have to make it a new turret.
Everything, from the turret (~50us in operation) to the legs (80-140us depending on the server) use holograms for movement, it runs VERY light on servers and has a single constraint (the weld gate).

The Mitsubishi Type 90 Kyū-maru.
Anyone know of a functioning prop-to-holo tool? Been looking for one since a few players on my server have requested it, but it seems that shadowscion's doesn't show up when added and this one doesn't function properly (you can't select anything).
I'm going to be honest, building on tank models in pac is no different from putting tracing paper on on an picture
So if there's some part of a car/tank/plane etc. that's hard as all hell to do out of props, but fairly easy using PAC/holos, you'd rather people make it ugly or with a large amount of props instead? If there's something you can save lots of props on by stretching some holos into something that fits you'd bet I'm gonna do that over jamming 5 props together to make it relatively resemble what I'm going for.
I like using holos with my tanks because it simplifies my armor profile, and weird shapes are a cinch because you can scale holos. I admit though it can be abused to make it look like there's armor where there isn't. Also arguably I've done less clipping since I started using holos because I could just scale a model to fit a shape instead of clipping a bunch of smaller props to fit that shape. I think that as long as you pay attention to keeping your build simple and not lagging the piss out of people you should be able to do whatever the hell you want.
You don't need to use a lot of visclip when building off of models/pics, that is if you know how to build. It's quite the opposite, when you build off a model you don't try to worry the shape because you already have it. You build as close to the model/pic as you can with as little props and clips as possible.
GitHub
Yeeeah but most people don't do that, they just kind of copy the model verbatim without being clever with props to optimize it a bit. Why not just use the model if you're going to replicate it, and instead use props to add things that are missing (like the interior, or the armor)
karbine what happens when you find a shape that is 100% impossible to model in props without using 50 and ruining the armor profile of the tank
if you're using 50 props for armor, you're doing it wrong
building high prop is fine, but it's not good for multiplayer. it hurts framerates too much. be considerate to others
High prop on tanks sucks regardless the model. Lots of small props are inefficient in terms of armor except for interior use.
"I'm going to be honest, building on tank models in pac/holo is no different from putting tracing paper on a picture"
so you just basically said don't use a lot of props for MP, but if you use holos to be more efficient you are not a skilled builder.
bruh
I didn't say anything of the sort

You should call it the barrel roll. Because that's what it's gonna do when it has to defend its sides.
the amount of situations where an acf battle actually requires protecting ones sides are like one in a million because 90% of fights are 1v1 slugfests
Until that one dude shows up where all he does is just constantly drive past you at mach 10.

T-80 light tank. Buy now and get terrible turret rotation included at no extra charge.
i thought that was my one at first before i realised you actually put the turret in the right place
you're dodging my question i'm saying how do you model a piece on the tank that is completely impossible to model in garry's mod props without using holos do you ignore it or use a shit ton of props to make a shape very close to it
Third addition to my E2 chassis cars, a freehanded Fiat 500/600 ripoff. Slow, but good for doing stunts because it can still jump and spin like the previous ones.

The fighting over the tank building is silly, but I do agree with Karbine, you don't need to use so much detail on a tank (when intended to be used in multiplayer) 'proptimising' is something that you should do religiously, there's nothing worse than having a tank battle and your frames drop to 15 and your camera starts dying.
finally got around to doing a new silverado

I made a little armoured car, it's pretty cute.
These are some WIP pictures (i have since finished it, but this is the WIP thread after all...) of it. It ended up mounting a 20mm anti tank rifle (slow firerate, pisspoor armour penetration) for lighter targets and a 60mm mortar for long range high angle trolling.
To go with the 60mm mortar it also mounts an artillery computer E2 (angle/drop table based, for low usage) which allows both high and and low angle point-and-click fire. (automatically adjusts for range and elevation) Also has a holographic turret to be nice to the servers, though it is illegal in most places.
It is always equally fun to see how people react to being wailed on by 60mm mortar shells coming in from stright above without any tracers or obvious source. Most just panic and drive around aimlessly.
