Hi. It's been 2 year from i stopped making stuffs on gmod, but i decided to come back and enjoy gmod again. after i moved my house, i got new router but setting page seems same as before, So i tried to make server again as i did back in time. but i might forgot something. this is how i did (Windows 10, Wi-Fi environment with laptop) ・Download SteamCMD ・login as anonymous ・update apps 4020, 232330(css) and mount it ・and modifying server.cfg file ・Port Forwarding ・Forwarding ・LAN 192.168.0.X TCP/UDP 27015 - 27030 ・WAN 0.0.0.0 TCP/UDP 27015 - 27030 ・Port-Trigger ・TriggerPort 27015 - 27030 ・ForwardingPort 27015 - 27030 ・DMZ setting ・192.168.0.X ・Unsetting UPnP ・Firewall setting ・Adding TCP/UDP acception for the port 27015 - 27030 after setting all of these, i started srcds and got these messages. Changing gamemode to DarkRP (darkrp) Network: IP 192.168.XX.XX, mode MP, dedicated Yes, ports 27015 SV / 27005 CL PREP OK also this Connection to Steam servers successful.    Public IP is XX.XXX.XX.XX. Assigned anonymous gameserver Steam ID [A-1:XXXXXXXX(XXXXXX)]. VAC secure mode is activated. which means server is now successfully opened on the public. but when i tried to join my own server using Public IP written in srcds, i'm keep getting ] connect  XX.XXX.XX.XX WARNING: Port 27015 was unavailable - bound to port 27016 instead WARNING: Port 27020 was unavailable - bound to port 27021 instead Network: IP 192.168.XX.XX, mode MP, dedicated No, ports 27016 SV / 27006 CL Connecting to XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Connection failed after 6 retries. ] connect  XX.XXX.XX.XX Connecting to XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Retrying XX.XXX.XX.XX... Connection failed after 6 retries. the reason why i'm using Public IP to join my server is, i'm trying to teach my friend who is new to gmod lua, so i'm making the server only for 2 people, so i had to test can i join via Public IP not local. if i can't join then it means he can't join too. What i Tried was : changing port range adding +clientport 27006 to gmod launch option in steam library Turning on UPnP setting What did i miss? thus I think this is happening because i'm on Wi-fi not LAN cabled. but well.. idk.. i have no clue why is this happening. any ideas? thus, is it possible to run srcds as p2p just like opening server with gmod? so i could just invite him via steam. any suggestions are welcomed.
While there doesn't seem to be any reason you couldn't connect via your public ip to the server, you might just want to connect via localhost. Is your friend able to connect to the server? If not your router could be missconfigured, or if you got a new ISP they could block port forwarding altogether
oh yeah, forgot to write that my friend can't join too sorry for the lack of the information. My friend has to join the server so i can teach him, also if i can join via Public IP then i can test servers for the future projects (who knows, i might make public servers again except Gmod isn't a big thing in japan) Hmm, even if there's problem with router then.. how can i check is it missconfigured or not :/ also yeah, got a new ISP so there's possibility of they're blocking this. edit: o wait what someone just joined outta nowhere lmao solved.
