[QUOTE=sheridanm;20068149]im not 10 years old [highlight]what are you some fucked up dumb gorilla[/highlight] (sorry if that offended anyone) but your [highlight]fucking flaming me[/highlight] So [highlight]STFU[/highlight] and stop posting your being rude and yes macs do get better gprahics cards and more ram my grandma has a mac book 5 with 4Gb of ram, 2.53Ghz and 256MB of nvidia graphics and [highlight]she doesn't need that computer I do[/highlight] becuase she isn't going to use it for gaming she's only going to use it for internet and word processing [highlight]grow a fucking brain mate[/highlight][/QUOTE] Post made my day. Anyway, you need a new PC. Even a cheap £450 one would do, but your specs are terrible currently.
[QUOTE=sheridanm;20068491]you know about the soft shadows thanks I've been trying to find a decent graphics card that can handle soft shadows[/QUOTE] The soft shadows feature isn't enabled any more afaik.
[QUOTE=Num Lock;20068426]...I don't know where you get your information. ATi cards and nVidia cards are both just as "compatible" with Source. Infact ATi cards had an exclusive feature called soft shadows at one point before [B]nVidia users bitched about it and got it removed.[/B][/QUOTE]
is that from New Zealand because down here we get good tech but not as much as japan :o
Ninja'd [editline]11:12PM[/editline] It ships world wide. Only restricted in some places.
[QUOTE=sheridanm;20068528]is that from New Zealand because down here we get good tech but not as much as japan :o[/QUOTE] J.. Japan? Newegg is an American website and the Japanese don't get way better computer hardware than the rest of the world. Infact, nVidia and Intel are based in America and ATi are based in Canada.
oh thats bad news it's just I could only experience gmod better in a gaming lounge that had good computers and you only pay when you get off (accept for xbox 360) and when you get off after and hour it's only around $6 NZ how cool is that [editline]12:14PM[/editline] im saying japan gets better tech than New Zeland
Not very cool at all, why go out to a public space to play games when you can play them in the comfort of your home whenever you want? You also couldn't download mods, etc there.
but they had faster computers anyway thats when I was staying at my grandmas in Nelson (I live in Wellington) and since I couldn't go on the internet at her place me and my brother went to a internet and gaming cafe (where gmod was)
:geno: I'm just gonna be frank here and say you really need to read up more about what you're getting yourself into.
If you think xp is shit, get 2gb of ram and install windows 7. You won't regret it, even because there's no support of updates for windows 2000, and few programs run on it.
what? JIAC is that some kind of flame or threat or weird child molsestering warning from you is it your weird skiopathic mind that lead you to this post you don't know what your saying and I do Know what im getting into you fucking noob [editline]12:24PM[/editline] kukiric thanks I have never tried windows 7 on my computer if I will I need a better one but thanks at least your advice is better than JIAC the wierd noob that mislead me
when you use wine, always start it like: WINEDEBUG=-all wine Steam.exe That hides the debug info and makes wine run WAY faster. Also, I start gmod with: "-width 1280 -height 1024 -dxlevel 81 -novid +r_hunkalloclightmaps 0"
2Gb of ram will be good but only till I can work with my new job at a internet and gaming lounge that doesn't exist yet.

[QUOTE=sheridanm;20068813]what? JIAC is that some kind of flame or threat or weird child molsestering warning from you is it your weird skiopathic mind that lead you to this post you don't know what your saying and I do Know what im getting into you fucking noob[/QUOTE] He's saying that you clearly don't know anything about computers and yet you're acting like you do, you need to read up before you start talking technical. His words, not mine. Also: :bang:
Open Terminal, change directory to where steam is cd .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Steam then run "WINEDEBUG=-all wine Steam.exe"
yeah thats why I put up this thread anyway since this is my thread can I please put up a little advertising about my game company website it's just that no one will help me with blender (3d modelling program used for more than modelling) [editline]12:32PM[/editline] thanks philxyz I always had counted on you oh I forgot to put up my wine version it's 1.1.37 [editline]12:33PM[/editline] hey there was just a new update with gmod
[QUOTE=sheridanm;20069069]since this is my thread can I please put up a little advertising about my game company website it's just that no one will help me with blender (3d modelling program used for more than modelling)[/QUOTE] I wouldn't if I were you.
ohh [editline]12:39PM[/editline] thanks for the update Num Lock your the one of the ones that helped me and also If you go on my user channel you'll see my website thats my game studios enjoy looking at that since I have no one that would work with me since the game creation is a team thing not a company your fired type of bullshit [editline]12:41PM[/editline] why would you rate me as dumb I haven't had a decent computer yet and I am getting used to gmod [editline]12:43PM[/editline] Philxyz was the only one to give advice about software not hardware you guys better know something about wine [editline]12:49PM[/editline] now people are trying to piss me off by rating all my posts as dumb x1 it doesn't effect me your just a dumbass for not knowing about wine but Philxyz is the king of gmod and wine he knows more about how to run wine better with gmod with you but if you do know about wine I dont give a shit Philxyz has been a friend in this post while you guys have been rating me as dumb instead of giving me more hints and tips [editline]12:52PM[/editline] the HAX avatar is informing you that im a Das bo Schitt fan because I think that the gmod idiot box is hilarious.
Dr.Hax is a shit meme. It killed ze series.
how? he's still in the series [editline]01:08PM[/editline] wow thanks to philxyz the jalopy lag has gone
Just a note, your motherboard might not support PCIe x16, so maybe the nvidia 8400gs PCI version maybe work better in your situation, or the AGP 3850 for the best performance on a old motherboard. Have a look on ebay for some cheap deals on graphics cards as I can guess that your pc is old, and wouldnt be able to take newer cards and dont want to spend loads.
thanks [editline]01:28PM[/editline] Philxyz do you know how to change the video settings in gmod whenever I do it crashes the whole game
Open steam, right click garry's mod, hit properties, set launch options: -dxlevel 81 That's about all I can suggest :S Edit, remove -autoconfig first, -autoconfig might be your problem.
actually I forgot to put autoconfig in there so I'll try autoconfig first then i'll disable it [editline]02:17PM[/editline] no it still wont change the video settings it just crashes on me Idk why but it does Edit: is there a way to change the video settings via launch options or source console?
You need to do it manually pre-launch with the command line or nothing at all. Worst case, you can start it with -dev and see if you can change them that way.
