Difference is that mnay of these addons are OLD and are not supported anymore and can be totally ripped after an update. Meanwyhile if garry implents them I (hope) he will update them so that they are fully working.
Also there are many addons that are used on every server(like PHX before and like smartsnap and wiremod). And very usefull addons like waterizer. Also some ppl say that wiremod can't be impletned due to many updates but I remember seeing a gm_svn updating module.

Hats are already in many servers and can be done using lua. They won't be added.
It will be something huge like a new gamemode, new tool set, in game map editor, or a physics-mesh welder so we don't need to use the current glitchy welds.

Read what I post. I'm not saying that it's impossible, but considering where it would go in the game, and considering how often it would be used an accepted overall, counteracted by the amount of effort needed to code it and update it into the game doesn't seem like a good balance. THAT'S why it simply won't work in an update. I'm just saying, but I'm not Garry.
You know that's funny because I remember Garry holding a contest with cash prizes for people to make minigames that would be shipped with GMod
Well shame it isnt a pawn piece rather than a queen, other wise we would all have this cracked; "Garrys adding porn to gmod!"
