Gmod simply can't run on consoles, for two reasons. 1. Gmod uses Direct3d to render, unless garry wrote an entire OpenGL renderer it wouldn't work on ps3 or wii
The source engine has already been ported to PS3. PS3 uses OpenGL.
2. Gmod uses too much memory, the Xbox only has 512 mb of memory, I have never seen Gmod use less than that.
Valid point, but I'm sure optimisation could help that.
You know Gmod is made out of 100% C++, and garry can't rip out the source for the portal guns [sp]unless he uses a c++ dll decompiler, which I can't find[/sp]
wat Garry said GMod is mainly Lua.
wat Garry said GMod is mainly Lua.
That guy has no fucking idea what he's talking about.
That guy has no fucking idea what he's talking about.
Nope not at all... /no sarcasm intended
We shouldn't be worrying about this big update, whatever it is, we should only expect things to get better, and even though there is no solid evidence to support than garry's mod will be ported to consoles, it would not be a bad thing, whatever we do on garry's mod now wont be messed up by somebody playing on a console having a taste of it. I have a feeling that Garry and his little mod are about to take the next step and become more than a mod, a game. And I can't wait for it.

GMod crashes all the time, they simply don't allow that.
So Garry, how big is the next update? (I'm talking about the HDD)
I think i've figured it out. Garry is going to let people charge for content released on toybox.
If I’ve been quiet for a while that’s because I’m working on a GMod Update. I’ve got lots to post about it. Lots of little things I coded that I would like to let people know about. But I’m not going to. I just want to get on with it in secret. So it’s a total surprise when I drop it. The update didn’t start off this ambitious. There’s a lot of things in GMod I’m not happy with, that I would like to change – but never dared to mess with because of the backlash from people that have got used to it being that way. I figured while I’m making some big changes I might as well change those things too. So it’s growing. By the day.
(Somewhat) fresh from Garry's blog, looks like he's going balls to the wall with this update. I'm OK with this.
Gmod simply can't run on consoles, for two reasons. 1. Gmod uses Direct3d to render, unless garry wrote an entire OpenGL renderer it wouldn't work on ps3 or wii
Gmod is already on mac, running perfectly on opengl.
I think i've figured it out. Garry is going to let people charge for content released on toybox.
If only. I finally got 400,000 downloads for my models on the toybox if I got money out of that I would be so happy.
I think i've figured it out. Garry is going to let people charge for content released on toybox.
GMod goes F2P and Toybox gets renamed Toy-conomy and adds SWEP/SENT/Model trading and limited toybag slots. And crates.
Or people could just learn to make their own..
I've always wanted some sort of rewind system like in LBP or like an undo last action thing so if I fuck something up I can go back to fix it.
I don't think the update will be until next month.
I've always wanted some sort of rewind system like in LBP or like an undo last action thing so if I fuck something up I can go back to fix it.
There is? Press Z after have done something :)
Their is a mod to rewind time. But it is buggy and does not work correctly any more. All props will fly move back including players. All exploded items rebuild themselves but the remains of the explosion do not go away. http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=99757
He's right, they're very strict about what gets released onto xbox. GMod crashes all the time, they simply don't allow that.
It's Microsoft. It used to be called Mirosoft, until they had to add the C for crashing.
There is? Press Z after have done something :)
Like undo the remover tool or undo an undo
Like undo the remover tool or undo an undo
Oh... Sorry :s Shouldn't there be any tools on gmod.org about this?
Just a small question, will all the background stuff be the same as last, not like you need anything special for it?
Sounds interesting. I only got into Gmod recently, so a big update wouldn't be too big a change for me.
Im hoping in one of the new menu backgrounds they have gnome chompski.
there should be a addon-checker thing, that would tell you if an addon is incompatible/old and wont work. Like a database of non-working addons. *hopeful sigh* dumbs incoming.
There's a lot of simple things that exist as addons that really should be built into the game. Like the Weight and Buoyancy tools.
There's a lot of simple things that exist as addons that really should be built into the game. Like the Weight and Buoyancy tools.
I prefer to choose the addons I need rather than having a ton of pre-installed useless stuff.
I prefer to choose the addons I need rather than having a ton of pre-installed useless stuff.
You may say that but you need the ability to change weight for big build project and buoyancy.
You may say that but you need the ability to change weight for big build project and buoyancy.
real pros use carefully placed vending machines for buoyancy
You may say that but you need the ability to change weight for big build project and buoyancy.
Then I would download what I need. Basically those who need such addons already have them, and it's not like if it was difficult to download and install an addon.

But Garry must of felt it belonged in gmod so he added it. Yes it is easy but if it is needed or wanted add it.
