I would rather we stick with this than restart on my idea completley. That's just me though.
Keep the idea on hats. Although it's a broad item which we [i]think[/i] can't be used for much is great idea.
It can be used for a lot. You could be collecting hats, trading hats, shooting hats, putting stuff in hats, etc. The possibilities are endless!
Stick with hats, I already have a gamemode in the oven!
Im posting this to say I will not enter the contest. This is so that I can use and see iRzilla's side scroller script. Its only for legal stuff, so... just don't let me enter.
Oh, also while the contests are going on, we will be choosing judges. It will be mahalis, some number of chosen members, and I. Not sure how many yet. We don't want to risk a tie so it will be either one other judge, or two others to keep a nice odd number. Although, last time it was four judges.
So would it be accpetable to use hats as a power up, along with normal gameplay?

Just remember, it doesn't need to be full-blown. Just present a game that has a clear concept and is functional enough to play and enjoy. Then it's judged. Whichever is most fun is more likely to be the winner. Once the contest is over, the people who entered it in time will have their gamemode threads moved to the gamemode release section where you can continue work on it and release new versions(or at least that's how it worked last time). Perhaps we can move it to the normal gamemode section, but we can figure that out later.

Also @CrashLemon, the hats can be used as hats, just that can't be the only thing. It can't be super-duper-awesome-side-scrolling-gamemode with added hats.

You may use hats as hats, but we will not accept your super-duper-awesome-side-scrolling-gamemode is you just slapped some hats on all the player's heads or add it as a small side-category of the game. If hats define classes like soldiers, rocketeer, etc... ( writing names out of my head ) is it fine?
Does up count as a side? i.e. Can I side scroll up?

Yeah, absolutely. It's not too original, but if that's all you can come up with, it satisfies the requirement.
Question: By Side Scrolling,does it have to be a "Side-View onto the Player", like in the youtube video ? Or is the kind of Side-Scrolling like in RTS games also allowed?
I'm suprised there's no threads up yet. I've just got my base map done and working on the camera view shit now.
