What do you mean? We could open a chat room or something, but I doubt everyone is online. jA_cOp and mahalis are offline.
... He's talking about a thread to put the reviews on and where people can see what they ranked the gamemodes. It is what was done in the old contests, unless I'm mistaken and they had that in the main thread not a separate one.
What do you mean? We could open a chat room or something, but I doubt everyone is online. jA_cOp and mahalis are offline.
We could all hop into some random IRC and totally ignore the current conversation.

I've asked jA_cOp for his ratings, and mahalis hasn't been on steam for a while. Oh, also, the results got put in a separate thread.
So far it's been terrible checking back every day to find nothing.
You didn't enter; you aren't judging; what on earth is your investment in this? Also, what do you think endlessly bitching in public about the way the contest is being run is doing to the likelihood of your running future contests? In any case, my apologies to everybody for not having judged these yet - I was out of town for the first half of the week and had some real-world work to do for the rest. I'll have 'em played and rated by tomorrow at the latest.
I was out of town for the first half of the week and had some real-world work to do for the rest.
find me, this is exactly what I was trying to tell you. Things happen, and it's nobody's fault, so just wait for all reviews to complete.
find me, this is exactly what I was trying to tell you. Why should I have to be involved in it to like to know what's going on? It's like saying I can't go to the races or some shit because I'm not actually racing or judging. When I'm not busy and there is nothing I can help or discuss in the lua forums I come here.
Has anyone TRIED any of them in single player? Most of them are horribly buggy.
Exactly why I also said to not have select judges vouche for the entire community on what game is good or not.
Please. One of the "community" votes last time got its results wildly skewed by dickheads voting with alts - and that was just theme selection. Individual judging is the way to go - maybe aided by community votes. We'll see in future contests.
Has anyone TRIED any of them in single player? Most of them are horribly buggy.
Yeah, all but one was meant to be multiplayer. They aren't supposed to be perfect, only enough to be playable and demonstrate the concept.
Please. I'll be patiently waiting for results, and when I have them all I'll make a thread with results.

Then I get some guy who want's to join in on the flame saying if I want a better gamemode contest then I should host it and I said why. Yea there are 2 completely things, I was only talking about 1 until the other people wanted to join in on something that didn't involve them. Also I suggested that too, if we are going to have select judges then also have a community vote to compare with and see how it turns out.

I'd like to say that I am having a few problems, mostly health wise, which is why I haven't been online lately. And it might not be until late next week for the winner to gain their prize from me.

You could make a voting system that only certain people can vote on? maybe?
You could make a voting system that only certain people can vote on? maybe?
Sounds like a very good idea..
Well, I'm just waiting for Rambo_6's review now.
I say bonkers to the community vote. I trust the judges more than the community.
Voting could have potential, but lets stick to hand-picked judges for now.
Alright, i'll PM my shit to greezemunky shortly so this contest can be over with.
Results have been posted.
Admittedly, even though the theme was interesting and made a few fun games, it would be better if another theme was used to make the games easier to created.
I still request the Hat-free gamemodes.
Guys I just came up with this idea for an RTS. It's called WM:RTS and I totally just started today, I swear. It's going to be awesome. On a serious note, poor AnnoyedTree had bad timing with just releasing his RTS. If only his timeline had shifted a little later. Some tips for contest submissions: -The archetypical rts is not ideal for this contest. It's not original, it's been done for Garry's Mod and it requires tons of time to make. Try making something more abstract or out there. The recent Omnivora was a good an example of a more unique RTS. -NPC's will lag you to hell, try making custom sents instead. The one exception to this would be if you made a hybrid RTS/FPS where you can do a lot of commanding, but still possess units or a commander. NPC's would fit into that. -Keep it simple or it'll end up being a year long project. I look forward to this contest more than any other. I really am interested to see what others do differentially from what's already been done and if they encounter the same problems.
If you break it down to the actual acronym, it could actually be simple. This does not need to be like the typical RTS game you play on an XBox. I added no twist this time and therefore you can mold the theme into almost anything. For instance, you could make each team have a small army of melons and you simply direct individual ones to locations or to attack other melons. It doesn't need to be complicated. You only need to display a concept that could be expanded on for us. These aren't meant to be complete.
I reserve Empires (the source mod) style RTS! IE: players as commanders (god figure) and as soldiers.
You should probably change the name of the thread or just make something so people understand there's a new contest going on. I couldn't fully understand why you guys suddenly started talking about RTS ideas in this thread.
I don't think I can change the title. Maybe mahalis could.
Why not just make a new thread? Or delete all the old posts in this one.
Why not just make a new thread? Or delete all the old posts in this one.
Second agreement with you :)
Amen to that. We also need more RTS's in which the developers respond.
