Why the fuck would people still think it's malicious even though there have been no complaints about problems with their Steam account/computer?

compwhiziitothema is finally banned :>, now, a file request: I would want the Stargate addon. SVN link is broken, so if the Stargate addon would be in G-addon, G-addon would be more popular. And, the real reason why i want Stargate to be in G-addon is that i've seen all those videos in youtube of it, and i'm a fan of Stargate shows... And... you get it :D. Stargate FTW!
This is not spam or trolling.

Yes unfortunately Avon has not (to the extent fo my knowledge) fixed teh Svn link yet,
HOWEVER!
Thanks to Gluan there is the most current svn possible is zip form available on teh Glua downlaods page (i.e. http://glua.net/downloads.php) under the name 'SG' (short for StarGate).
This is the best version i know of available via non-Svn.

I downloaded that a long time ago and it didn't work for me. However (PLEASE DON'T BAN ME), I downloaded a torrent with some addons, including stargate.. Don't ban me because I said this, I downloaded it, not you. But, if the SG addon would be in G-addon it would save me from downloading ~70 addons at once with torrrent! The SG addon is an SVN download. So, I can't upload it on garrysmod.org , it's against the rules. So I thought about G-addon, but when I came to this thread I remembered that it said "non-svn downloads"...
But, if PowerHouse would agree to upolad this SVN download then I would gladly send him ~200 MB of Stargate data ;) (has lots of things except the overloader).

So long as the actual GMod game was not included in the torrent then it was entirely legal, if GMod was included in that torrent, then naughty boy.
if GMod was included in that torrent, then naughty boy.
Well, if GMod was in there, then (assuming he already bought it off Steam) it wouldn't be ILLEGAL, due to some weirdness in the US laws (not sure which), but the mods wouldn't give two shits anyway and ban him.
Since GMod itself was not involved in the torrent, he's good.
This DOES have Malware in there. Webroot detected it the second I finished downloading it.
this is NOT malicious. the dude just wants to help people get the best addons out there. and i think we might need to get some more troll spray in here. anyone?

If you're going to update this, make it so you DO NOT type in the steam name, or else people WILL NOT download it, because it will be suspicious, all you need to do is type in the Garrysmod addons directory.

Again i state, the software does not NEED your steam name, it only ask for it to make teh process much faster for slow or new useres. i tried it useing teh steam name "myname", it can't check to make sure that this is a valid directory, it will just assume it is unless you tell it otherwise in the "do you have garrysmod installed in a non-default location", And for peopel who ahve half a clue what there doing you can set anny name in the User.ini, and you can set any directory in teh Dir.ini file; the User.ini is just your primitive account selection method, and the Dir is the location of your garrysmod. Though if you had Garrymod installed in your defualt location even the simpilist string interpreters could get yoru user name from the directory; But again its worthless to anyone withough you password witch this sotware will never ask for or atempt to aquire it in any way.

wow that was a short ban, teh first ban i got from facepunch lasted a year and i still don't even know what for xD
There isn't any need to ask the user for their gmod directory.
You can find the steam install path by getting the value "SteamPath" from the registry key "Software\Valve\Steam\". From there, you can tack on steamapps and browse through folders in that folder ( ignoring common ) for a garrysmod folder, and inserting those into a list. Most people should only have a single item from this if they are the only person using their computer, maybe two if they have the beta installed. Prompt the user to select one of the items or to enter a manual path themselves. Hey presto, got the steam path with possibly zero user input in best case scenario.
Don't use wget. Every language worth it's salt has sockets and can thus download data from a webserver regardless of the user's settings. You can google <language name> how to download a file and will easily find example code for nearly any language. .Net has the WebRequest ( and matching WebResponse ) classes that make this really simple.
xcopy is another thing that needs to go. You could look at any number of places for any number of solutions - you could use zlib or any other file compression library. And, since you are hosting the files on your website, you could go with whatever compression format your heart desires and you have the availability to decompress, such as 7z ( it's even open source ).
Having a program that ends up as long as you have stated it is code wise, and that requires the user to have wget and xcopy either in the same directory as the program or in the global PATH variable leaves a bad taste in one's mouth, and even shows up as false positives to many anti-virus programs.
I know the author probably doesn't read the thread, so this is more than likely a going to replied to with a witty "get out troll" reply, but it's actual advice. I would like to see this be a more robust program that doesn't depend on external programs and gets marked as dangerous.

No tahst not trolling as far as im concearned, i'll pass this along to the programmer, hes already begunn working on teh same application ina diferent lanugage due to limitations an what not. These are really nice ideas; niec to see someone who know what hes talking about for once.

the trial is free, power was noticeing the high badwidth useage of g-addon so he needed to bring in some extra money to be able to upgrade his shit.
Pks-Addon and teh rest are still free, but PKS-Addon only installes the ones the clan servers use. G-SVN and G-Map are still good; Your lucky theres even a free trial version (that dosen't expire); i had to really convince him on that.

I think its only in the 'real' version. The 'trial' version is the same one as the least release. The New one added 15 addons. I do apologise for the cost, i know nobody has even a dollar to spare, but i wanted to keep this shit free, atleast untill it had an improved code and interface. But it is only a dollar if you really want the latest stargate.
