Spacebuild 3 looks fantastic, just want to get that out of the way.
my big problem is this, compatability, I don't want to abandon the myriad awesome creations I've already built for SB2. I certainly don't want to abandon the communities I've been part of on SB2 servers.
I would be totally happy if either my SB2 creations worked in SB3, or alternately, I was able to have both Sb2 and SB3 installed at the same time (but not running simultaneously)
I've briefly experimented with placing the LS and RD files into the SB gamemode relevant to them, it broke both. so I gave up on that idea for the moment.
I want both SB2 and SB3 to work for me. whichever I find better will be used more and in time, I'll abandon the other. but for now, I want both. anyone know any way I can do this?
and don't go on at me with a rant about how much better SB3 is. because I've heard it before, and its not about that for me. its about the things I've already done, not the things I can do in future.
There will not be ls2 compability in ls3, as it will ruin whole performance fixes and everything they worked for.
Just remake your things. They are completely incompatible. It is like playing with 3d character in real world.
it's not hard to remake the things.
Hi, I want to know if the gamemode is discontinued because I see no update since 3 months i think ?
Hi
Not discontinued yet.
Delayed yes, haven't had much time to work on it for the last couple of months. (Working on my own game in XNA for a college project).
oh ok thanks for the reply :) and good luck for your game :P
what is your game going to be about?

Rebuild it, but this time use SB3.
I've had to recreate my ship 5 times because either my game crashed or the server did. So deal with not being able to use it in SB3.
If anyone is interested in playing SB3 join up at 69.162.110.83
I know a few servers running SB3 Beta.
I need RD3, but I think I just need the models cause I get errors spawning stuff.
So, I DL'd RD3 from glua.net, but do I only need to extract the models?

get it from the svn, u need LS3E for the entities.
I got LS3, RD3 and CAF from the SVN yesterday and from what I was able to mess with was working pretty smoothly. A couple things were missing but no biggie, they'll be there on release. ^_^ The biggest thing that got me was the new nodes, I was like "What the crap is this?!"

Yes, but I don't want to get an error saying I need SB3 in single-player.

IF you only play it only. Yes the only thing you need to extract from the various svn's are the models and materials. If you want to be able to use the Entities in Singleplayer to you will need to extra everything.
Hmm, didn't find a Life Support 3 thread and don't want to do a "HELPPA MEEEE" - thread. So, I'm trying to build a house wich can survive unlimited time in space. The problem I have is with the Water Creator (Need that one for my plants). When I try to activate it, press E- key on it. It starts for a sec then shuts down, it has the energy it needs, the hydrogen needs and the oxygen it needs. So what is the problem, I just couldn't seem to make it work. :S
Someone know the solution?

you need some where to store the water before it goes into your plants.
you need some where to store the water before it goes into your plants.
Well, yes I have a medium water storage, the real problem was the fact that the water generator doesn't start up, it just shuts down right off.

I'll try to find out what's wrong as soon as possible. And there are some other devs I'll talk to which should be able to check it out.
Anyone notice an issue in SB3 where if you apply grav plating to an object, it "falls" to the bottom of hte map in space... slowly, as if it didnt weight much? I'm just wondering if this is an SB3 issue or LS3...
Hey Guys could you possibly help me the spacebuild 3 models please all i get is the same "error" prop and i dunno where to get the models from
jayjab: Depends what you're after, i'd try SBEP (Spacebuild Enhancement Project) and PHX (Phoenix Storms 3) they're usually the props used in spacebuild.
I know this may sound a bit stupid, but where can I download SB3? I havn't got a clue what this SVN thing is, I'd just like a link to the download page. :)

Hi
What do you guys think of each of the suggested methods to reduce the amount of entities needed per network?

Multi-Use Generators

Each generator can be used for various options (that are closely together).

For example 1 generator to gather O2, CO2, H, N (Controllable by VGUI/Wire)

Multi-Storage devices

Only have group-like Storage devices. For example 1 for gasses, 1 for liquids, 1 for energy.

Can accept a certain volume of gasses.

Don't make Storage devices required.

For example Solar panel generates 10 energy, device needs 10 energy.

Device has enough power to keep running (no storage needed).

But if there is energy left it could still be stored...

No, instead make less resources

Still don't like, current method is familiar for everyone why change?

Multi-Storage devices

Yes *

Complicated

Don't make Storage devices required.

...

...

Yes, hell yes!

Edit:
Mostly i like the idea of making storage devices optional. Allows making solid constant resource usage stream devices.
What does "Extra Number" and "Extra Bool" do?

Any generator should be able to hold as much resource as its capeable of producing in an update.
IE, solar panel produces 10 energy a sec, should be able to store 10 energy.
Also, resource nodes should include a base amount of storage, say 200 energy, and 100 gases for a large node. Might not seem like a lot, but for smaller ships, this would be enough to eliminate the need for excess LS altogether.
Oh, and breaking it down to 4 storage types [solid, liquid, gas and energy] sounds like an awsome idea.
but we need to be able to set max storage for a given gas type. IE, 1% max Co2 storage, or the ability to vent only the specific gas type.
In fact, it might be better to keep both ways.
Quick question:
Does the air hydroponics work? I have placed some of them, hooked them up to a node. I got water for them, and compressed CO2 in canisters. But they do not generate oxygen. I tried this on a planet that had oxygen already, so there I hooked it up to a O2 canister. Nothing happened.
Tried it on a planet with 0% O2, but 92% CO2. Nothing happened.
Am I doing something wrong, or are the plants non-functional?

In short, there are 2 major things to do:
1. Making any generator store its gen amount per sec.
2. Turning nodes into resource nodes which can hold all kind of resources depending on their size.
I've downloaded Tortoise SVN, figured out how to make it work, and found the right SB3, LS3 etc download links, at the official site:
http://www.snakesvx.net/index.php/module_Wiki/title_Help_Info_SVN
The problem is that they're password protected! I've tried anonsvn for username and password (suggested here: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=639750), but that doesn't work.
Do I need to be a member of the site? Or is there a specific password I'm not aware of...

I think they don't compress it into canisters. You have to put a oxygen compressor next to it, I think.
